The real Wiesel was developed for the German paratroopers as an air drop support vehicle. There are two basic versions: one with the 20mm cannon, one with an ATGM launcher and four missiles on board. They are very light, barely under three tons, and narrow. No, they aren't armored heavily, so can't take any vehicular return fire. But that's not their purpose. They can get to positions that are inaccessible by almost any other vehicle. They can drive through forests or even along slopes without a high chance of tracks popping off. They are so low they can hide behind a Ford box truck or even some higher fences. With their fairly high speeds on and off road they can pop out of hiding, fire a salvo or a missile, and get back under cover again before return fire can be contemplated. They are always smiled at as ridiculous by regular tanker troops. Right up the point where they have to face these little weasels in troop exercises. So cheap yet so effective. The engine is also a standard car engine which is easily repaired with off-the-shelf parts, or even exchanged by a competent mechanics crew in around 15 minutes.

This gives me fond memories of the time myself, driving an R3 when it was 5.0 or 5.7 or whatever, and 2 other rando guys ALSO in R3's jumped a T-34-85. No coordination at all, I started harassing him and next thing I knew 2 more R3's had joined me. Felt like a super villian.

The Wiesel 1A4 and the mig-23bn (gun-pods, stealth-round, pre nerf) is the most fun I ever had in the game continuously, even against heavys, just taking out tracks and scurrying away is such a joy and both are absolute underdog highlights on the german tech-tree imo. ...well the mig-23bn not so much anymore

2:18 it actually isnt stabilized but the gun vertical traverse is fast enough to give the illusion it is at lower speed. It isnt on par with the XM800T ability to boom and zoom tho.

The Wiesel has Hyena syndrome. Alone it's pretty rough to deal with, fast, hard to hit, but it's bark is worse than it's bite and it can't take a lot of punishment. But you get three or four of them? Menace.
