Swarms of 'fish flies' blanket Manitoba town

Come to North Bay, Ontario. We call them Shadflies (I think fishflies are much smaller). There are billions and billions and billions. Every step is snap crackle pop, and 50 get crushed (in the most bare areas). Last about 2 weeks, bad every 7 years. I've seem them several feet deep in places here. I'd say you guys had it good. lol

More like drifts of bugs (under lamp posts), mostly avoidable - but that stink! Fortunately, they are good for the environment.

These are Mayflies. It's good that the title put the name in quotes, but it's still bad that their actual name wasn't at all mentioned. Fish flies is a name frequently used for a different type of insect.

+flip92 no it's just that there's nothing here really, every time a band goes on tour they always go to Toronto because Toronto is basically the New York of Canada. It's like a 4 1/2 drive away but no one ever comes to Ottawa and it's sad :(((
