Very helpful, I just recently 1):discovered at age 60 I actually have wavy/curly hair after growing it out this year after decades of super short hair, and 2) after watching these YT videos purchased several Curl Smith products, a microfiber towel, correct comb/brush and a diffuser. Then I had my hair trimmed and shaped. Only two weeks of practice before traveling next week (W/the travel sizes of CS) to a postponed wedding. Thank you for getting me set up for my big trip!!

I LOVE my lash extensions! I’ve had them close to a year now. I feel like I have makeup on when I don’t. I was one that wouldn’t let anyone but my family see me without makeup (my hang up, I admit), but now I find myself going out with a bare face. They gave me confidence! And my lashes underneath are just fine. 😉 I hope you enjoy yours, Courtney. (Psst: for those of us who are “older,” it helps with minimizing hooded eyes. 😉)

Easy & simple, that's what I like. I've started the cgj about 6 months now. I understand why it's called a journey. I'm still finding out what works & what doesn't work 4 me. I'm still finding that my hair isn't wet enough & I'm not applying the enough gel. I usually wash, deep condish /condish & apply the leave-in, while I'm in the shower. Then I need 2 give my back a break, so I get out of the shower, plop my hair, dry off, get dressed & whatnot, then I unplop, rewet my hair, apply curl cream, mouse & gel, scrunching & squishing, defuse some & air dry the rest, then when it's fully dry, I'll use some type of oil to SOTC. I really need to check out SM products. Thx Courtney.

Your hair never seems to get frizzy as the days go on. My hair is so weird because by day 3/4, I actually seem to somehow get curlier, but I start to get frizz. Literally no matter which products or techniques. I'm in FL, so humidity is life, but I know you deal with humidity too. But your hair just seems immune from frizz!
@florenciafernandez84473 жыл бұрын
Have you tried cutting out glycerin? I'm a fellow Floridian and after I stopped using products with glycerin I stopped having frizz! I might just be sensitive to glycerin but it might be worth a shot 😊
@jennifermunoz73753 жыл бұрын
Floridan here too !! My hair lasts for about 3 days then day 4 and 5 is stringy. My hair doesnt seems to react to humidity only the one after rain , when I go out after or before it rains my hair goes POOF it lacks definition. I recommend using products without glycerin so your hair doesnt absorb much water from the air.
@VengefulAngeI3 жыл бұрын
@@florenciafernandez8447 Yep. I also have tried every occlusive under the sun. Believe me when I tell you I've tried it all. Some things work a little better than others, but really it's just a matter of how much it frizzes by day 3 or 4, not IF it frizzes. It's the heat/ humidity combo. On cooler days, I've actually faired really well even in rain - it will literally reactivate everything and end up looking great. But the steaminess if summer just kills my hair. My newest thing is I don't break the cast AT ALL, which seems to work better than anything else.... But still not great 😣
@rachellep25813 жыл бұрын
It is her hairs natural texture. Her cuticle layer is tight low porosity. this is why her hair is always so shinny and smooth. You can literally see her hairs softness with your eyes lol. Products can not change your hairs texture this drastically. Working in salon I know this hair type very well. However its more commonly seen in straighter hair types. Their usual only complaint is how flat their hair is. They are the types to usually love a good texture or beach spray. They also usually get highlights to purposely damage the hair a little for more texture and volume. It's almost impossible in its virgin state to have what I consider real frizz lol.

Also, my washday hair looks like your third day hair. Any ideas of what can cause a lack of curl defining and bounce?

As for soaking up products - how can you tell if your skin is soaking up a product? While scrunching, if I can feel that the product is disappearing ie can't feel it on either my hands or my hair (and it hasn't ended up on the floor), then the hair soaked it up. As for porosity - there are different methods to determine that and Courtney has addressed that in her videos. As for definition and bounce - Courtney has addressed even that in her videos. Get ready for som binge watching 😉

I'd love to use Curlsmith, but most of their products contain ingredients that I personally don't want on my body anymore, such as phenoxyethanol which is toxic to your liver, your fertility, your skin, it's production is also really bad for the environment... And it's not the only ingredient they use that is not so good. I use the INCI beauty app to check that. On the other hand, they use a lot of plant extracts and have great ideas for curly people... It's so sad 😭 I really wish they went for a cleaner recipe because their products look really amazing. Hey! The Bible verse idea is also fun (even if I'm not religious) it's cool :)
