Much love to PMD and keeping the legend and vibe of the "Golden Era" alive. You and E the Green-Eyed Bandit were the FUNK truth. Before "Frampton Comes Alive" and his talk box. Joe Perry of Aerosmith was one of the first on "Sweet Emotion" and "Walk This Way" Live. Both 1975 or 76.Of course Stevie Wonder. EPMD was the realest from the East to incorporate Funk.Keep Grinding

Before Peter frampton ,Stevie Wonder used the talk box in like '72 on his album then when he wrote for Rufus in'74. But it was used since like the '30s in blues etc. These guys frampton, wonder and Troutman are just the ones who made it famous.

Me being 47 and going with my pop to Bk to see my cousins back in the 80's, it always amazed me how different the slang and the accents were in Now Y. I'm from Philly so we were only like an hour away but listening to the rap back then and being in Bk it was like you were on another planet. Then we took the A Train from Bed-Stuy (Throop and Fulton and that McDonald'sis still there!!) to Far Rockaway.....mannnnn. This was like 1988. I love New York! I haven't been back since I went to Tony Touch's Peacekeeper album release party. Shout out to him and all the rappers who showed me and Dj Touchtone mad love. Shout out to EPMD!

I don't care what anyone says...the best came out of Long Island...otherwise known as Strong Island. Do your homework! Long Island started so much shit in the game that it doesn't even get credit for. Even the artists that don't claim Long Island but are from Long Island be creative as fuck! Y'all gonna respect Long Island one or another...style robbing muthafuckas!!!!!!

16:51 - Man, that's not about you guys. "...Get a flick of the stiff dead-shot to get swift, but I'm the wrong brother to dance with. 'Cos I don't need a partner to swing. Keep your eyes on the Cool J ring" That's still directed at MC Hammer. He doesn't mean a rap duo partner. Hammer is known for dancing, LL say's 'I don't need a partner to swing'. Swing is a dance which you do with a partner, but L is talking swinging punches. The bit when L says "You know the L.L.'s back in town. And all the want-to-be sheriffs is gettin' shot down." I would have thought was about Kool Mo Dee since he made a choon called "Wild Wild West", but he already served him in the first verse so why continue halfway through the 2nd?? Bit confused with that one.

Jay SouthPhil You stole my thunder, i was thinking the same you were, i was 18 at the time and really didn't comprehend lyrics or the true meaning behind most of them until i was older, disses weren't really subliminal in the golden age era, if you dissed someone you called them by name and didn't take the jay-biggie sneak diss route, but the LL-epmd diss went straight over my head. I thought till the break of dawn was only aimed at my boy ice t.
