Agatha did not perform divination. She is known for her commitment to knowledge; that's how she almost defeated Wanda in Wandavision (and might have had she kept her trap shut and not taught Wanda about runes and how she takes magic). She was using the practical magic and insight she learned on The Road from her coven (Alice's protection circle, Jen's moonlight and water healing, and Lilia's warning). That scene was a reminder that Agatha has never relied on raw power alone. Rather, she has always sought and applied knowledge to survive. It was also a callback to something she learned from each of her coven members.

A costume detail that I absolutely love, that I never would’ve noticed without the behind the scenes, is Billy’s hood. The outside of his cloak is the same fabric as Wanda’s suit, and the inside is the same as Vision’s cape.
@JumbarideАй бұрын
The costume designer is brilliant. While it's a bummer that most people will never know the amount of detail he put into every costume and the stories they tell, the audience will definitely benefit from the ways his designs enhanced each actor's performance. The entire cast commented on how many of the intricate designs were only known to them but pulled them into character by making them feel magically empowered and protected. Thank you for your comment.

@djarinriduur Do you know what Rio is holding in her left hand when she reveals herself as Death to Lilia?
@djarinriduurАй бұрын
@@Jumbaride It’s a flower, I believe. Though I don’t remember which one. I read somewhere that they had the idea that Rio would just always be spontaneously making flowers. That’s why she’s almost always holding one.

Love your channel. The connection between Agatha and Billy is more than death. A part of her seems to have bonded with him when she was his babysitter. Remember the emotion when she said," it's good to see you again...Billy." She seemed very sincere.

The reason why thy 4th name was s black heart was because Lilia didn't know Billy's name because of the sigil. The boyfriend wrote, 'You are my 🖤,' with the black heart. Rio was a red herring. If she was it, Lilia could have easily written her name.
@JumbarideАй бұрын
Exactly. Agatha further supported our assertion when she responded to Jen's confusion about Rio being unafraid of the trial by saying Rio was a "tourist" on The Road. Rio was never part of the coven; the black heart was Billy, and Rio was just an outside observer waiting to collect bodies.
@HenryLoenwindАй бұрын

31:22 NOPE. The doctor does bind her - he uses a spell he bought from Agatha. Agatha was NOT there when Jen was bound and had no idea she was responsible.
@HenryLoenwindАй бұрын
Indeed. We can see the realisation on Agatha's face when she hears Boston. We already knew that it happened in Boston, but when Jen was telling her story to the others, Agatha was tending Teen. This means she only knows half of the story, and that is that some man who had no magic bound Jen in a mysterious way. Jen never suspected that binding was a witch's spell. Had she, and had she told Agatha, Agatha might have connected the dots earlier.
@waywardlyfe3092Ай бұрын
Rewatch the series with the knowledge that Billy manifested the road and it’s so obvious from the start! And it’s obvious that Agatha knew all along! When rio says “he’s not yours” she’s referring to her job, reminding Agatha that her job is to keep the sacred balance, an “abomination” like Billy shouldn’t exist and it’s within her obligation to restore the balance. There’s more emotional context to it, which in hindsight makes sense as to why Agatha reacted the way she did. Also love the details that everything on the road is influenced by witchy and horror pop culture in Billy/William’s room. Every poster, every small and irrelevant decor detail, had some significance in the show. Rio cutting the backdrop was just that. A clue that not only can death traverse time and space, but can also see through all the fakeness,the BS. kind of a power move to Agatha, that you can’t deceive death. No matter how convincing you are. The next ep is such a roller coaster. So many more questions, but a nice bookend to the overall series. I really enjoyed what they did with the show, and really hope we get to see a bit more witchiness in the mcu future

The end credits after this episode change to make it clear that everything on the road is taken from Billy’s room and research. It was a nice touch. I actually noticed it after episode five, but they finally connect all the dots in the end credits of this episode.

Jac Shaeffer said that the mental addition that Billy queried about "Is this how Nicky died"' was a post production decision.....so if you watch that whole scene "muted", you would get the true effect.....She changed her mind...on her own.....!!!!!

It's interesting that at the end, they gave Rio a voice that's both male and female at the same time, since he doesn't have a gender, nice reaction!!!
@JumbarideАй бұрын
Since "he" doesn't have a gender? Interesting slip you made there... lol Death (often referred to as Mistress Death or Lady Death) is a cosmic being and the personification of death itself. It can assume many forms of any gender but most often a cloaked skeleton or a woman. Also, Rio Vidal (The Original Green Witch) was a woman before becoming Death according to Marvel. I'd love to get more backstory on her.
@emilyk5168Ай бұрын
Death does NOT have a gender, just a form she uses to present herself (or himself) to humans. I definitely hold to the theory that Rio is Nicky 's father.
@kazetoameАй бұрын
It wasn’t Rio’s trial, she wasn’t the coven’s green witch, it was Billy. When Lilia wrote down the names, she couldn’t write down either of Billy or William, it was just a black heart. Billy is the black heart, which Boyf called him in the text to Billy, right before Billy broke into Agatha’s house.

Trent, were you suggesting that Billy influenced Agatha into sacrificing herself? Because I didn't get that at all. Agatha is a villain (and I love that they're not trying to convince us that she isn't), but I absolutely love that she consistently shows her humanity and heart where her son -- or someone she associates with her son -- is concerned; it's a rare but unconditional maternal instinct for her. (Maybe I misunderstood what you were saying.) Anyhow, I adored this episode. Katherine Hahn and Aubrey Plaza had their big, witchy showdown, but I really have to recognize how brilliant both Joe Locke and Sasheer Zamata were in the trial scene; talk about emotion! Great moments in this episode, for sure, and I'm eager to see how you feel about the finale.
@zimvader25Ай бұрын
She’s not a villain, Disney is literally trying to grow up and move away from the black and white good vs evil trope, she’s just shaped by her past as we learned in wandavison AND in these past couple of episodes, she was betrayed and mistreated by her mother and her coven. So she’s learned to just look out for herself and eliminate all the perceived threats before they, in her mind, inevitably turn on her: i.e all witches. “The best defense is a good offense” type of mentality. She’s not really out to rule humanity or anything of the sort. Even her neighbors saw her as the one who saved them by breaking wandas hold on them, which is why they all looked out for her while her mind was trapped.

34:01 Billy was slipping at that point. The trials weren’t clear for one person anymore. Also in that last one after Jen leaves, Agatha is not lying to Billy when she says she won’t drain him if he gives her magic. You can tell bc her tone and expression matches all times when she is serious - she looks and acts differently when she lies. She even keeps the tone and expression as she rolls right into offering Billy help Instead

I do think it was Rio’s trial. It was very much about death/rebirth for each of them - Jen getting her powers back, a rebirth of sorts, Billy bringing Tommy back, and Agatha growing the dandelion. Rio doesn’t have to be physically present for the trial because she is always present spiritually, ideologically, metaphorically, etc. Death and life in constant flow. I also like that it kind of implies that Rio is part of the coven after all, but so is Billy. Love your insights into Agatha as well! She’s such a complex asshole of a witch, I love her. :)
