During their first attempt no spirit was released because Agatha purposefully messed it up. Notice she says Mother, Maiden, Crone instead of Maiden, Mother, Crone. You have to be precise in spellcasting. The second time she does it correctly and it works. P.S.: You also skipped a very important line that seemed silly at that time. "Ages 3 and up".

I liked this episode because it gives us a view into why Agatha behaves the way she does - what Jac Schaefer termed her “source trauma.” The trial was successful in that it did punish Agatha. Her card is the Three of Swords, and she got that: facing her mother, seeing most of the coven turn on her, only to lose control and kill the one member who chose to protect her, hearing her son’s voice imploring her to stop. So the door opens. And she’s rejected and judged by Billy. That’s when she throws the walls up and, as you said, calls his bluff. This episode marks a change in Agatha & Billy’s interactions. I didn’t read Rio’s reaction as pleased, but actually understanding how hard the trial had hit Agatha. I think she reads her well. Lilia: “I hated this the first time!” “Knight of Wands” Agatha: “It’s not a verb.”

I’d like to think that Agatha was either born of dark magic or has had this ability to be a power vacuum since birth. It makes her mother’s line hit a lot harder in that context. Maybe she was even bound or forbidden from using or being around magic in the fear she couldn’t control it, or worse yet, seek it out intentionally. Also like to think that for her, absorbing magic is kind of like a drug, and Agatha is kind of like a reformed junkie relapsing after a small taste.

Tissues... you WILL need tissues at some point in the "back 4 episodes". The writers take no prisoners over the last eps, and there will be something that triggers you. The acting is amazing, and if costumes and makeup don't get Emmy nominations... you'll see. I know it will be impossible, but try not to analyze too much. (at least during the episode) The sheer beauty of the performances, the writing, and the design deserve to be ogled... THEN analyze My theory on Agatha's "power suck" is it's like a classic Vampire. They CAN control their "feeding", but they need to learn it, and fight their natural survival instincts. Agatha has probably never been hit by magic from someone NOT trying to kill her before Alice, so why would she ever have needed to learn? Also, starving vampire and a juicy bloodbag? Don't stand in their way!

28:48 WandaVision introduced us to our first unconfirmed mutant, Wanda. Agatha confirmed that Wanda was born a witch. Wanda and Vision's children are mutants. Are Wanda and Agatha really that different? Wanda entered the MCU as a villain, but she became a hero and was last seen as a villain, but was she really? Let's be clear, she did kill anyone who wouldn't give her what she wanted, which was her children or the means to get her children. Agatha did sort of the same thing with the Darkhold. Her coven came between her and her book, and she decided they had to go. Wanda had what she wanted, Chaos Magic, and she tried to do away with Wanda too. Both Agatha and Wanda are driven women. Agatha this time around, however, is different. We've seen a softer side of her. Is this because she no longer has the Darkhold? Did the Darkhold bring out the worst in those who possessed? Agatha is still Agatha, but we're seeing a softer side of her that wasn't present when she was in WandaVision. Agatha told the others that she couldn't stop draining Alice's power. Previous episodes and series have shown us that it isn't something Agatha activates, it seems to have a life of its own. Is Agatha a mutant too? Is her power a mutant ability? Agatha's ability seems to be a mix between Rogue and Jean Grey's Phoenix Force power. Similar to Rogue's in that she cannot stop once magical contact has been made, and similar to Jean's in that it has a life of its own. Is this why Evanora thinks Agatha was born evil? Did Evanora have a magical delivery? Did baby Agatha drain the midwife dry? That would certainly make a mother think her child was born evil, especially if that child was only killing their kind, which is what Agatha does. Agatha being a mutant also fits with the other mutants introduced in this soon-to-be trilogy. I can't wait to see your next reaction. Everything is ramping up. Prepare yourselves =)

Neither Wanda, nor her children, nor her brother have been even hinted at being mutants in MCU. Right now it's all just speculation. The only mutant in MCU at this point is Ms Marvel. Your speculations about Datkhold are complete fantasies right now as well.

I don't think Agatha was ever taught how to use her power, so I don't think she is lying here when she says she couldn't control it. (It's not like her Mom was interested in helping her live with it.) But we have seen her take power from someone without killing them: Wanda. Presumably Wanda just had so much power, Agatha never finished absorbing it all. But it does raise the question, if Agatha just found someone with that much power (Billy?) could she live on just absorbing from them without killing anyone as she has been doing her own whole life?
