not just nostalgia, it was categorically better because the story made sense, the systems were built around that story and there was actual continuity with it, now you have a dead character narrating an intro that has no relevance to anything you do in game, a new character that was just made up on the spot to fill the gap of the people who filmed and voiced all the cgi cutscenes in red war.

Then curse of osiris would be on mucury (which would be new and "fun" to them) so it wouldn't be a problem, then warmind would introduce mars and more "story" which would still be more compelling then walk around the cosmodrome for 2 hours.

I think the main problem with it is that if you have been playing since d1 theres been a consistent story for over 6 years. Then in d2 up until now there was a consistent story even if you didn’t play d1. But now there isn’t really a story. I really hope it's not. As a paying player, I do think the the new light experience is severely lacking and they need more. The raid can help with that so I hope they don't lock it behind a paywall. At least, the raid should be difficult with the weapons that new light players can obtain.

Same. Also all the specific loot from that dlc's is useless now. Same goes for the dungeon loot, there is no reason to play them now. You only get sunset stuff. At this point they could make it free to play, so newbys can atleast enjoy some good content to get them into the game.

A few of my friends and I bought Forsaken expecting to be able to do exotic quests, only to find they were removed. The story had some interesting bits, but a GOOD chunk of it was just a grindfest and not super fun. If Forsaken was any good I was thinking about buying the other expansions. But... Like I have no clue what the point was to Forsaken in the first place. I feel like it was a waste.

@@Blueroyal3 We did do the Wish-Ender quest, and it is a decent dungeon. We were still expecting a bit more from it. A trial run to see if the content was worth it. We purchased it on half price. But the content doesn't match the value. I'm hoping Bungie does better in the future, and the expansions aren't so expensive for such a low amount of content, or content they're just going to remove.

But i did end up buying beyond light and forsaken later along with the season pass for the 2 seasons i have played so far. overall as a new player i would give the pve an 8 and the pvp a 4 or 5 out of 10.

The f2p experience was actually decent before beyond light considering you had leviathan raids and the prophecy dungeon you could do but with the addition of beyond and the removal of ¾ of the older content the game right now for f2p is just public events,bounties,strikes and free roam as well as crucible if you dont mind being screwed by stasis and gambit but no one likes gambit

Khvostov is not only a better introduction to exotics for new lights, but a lot of veterans like myself would love to see it return and it could possibly be a good weapon in pvp since you can switch between firing modes and rpms (600 rpms are still good and it can return as the only auto that can shoot at 900 rpm)

Bungie deciding it's going to kill core activities and turn all world loot into one engram is why playlist activities suck. D2 went F2P in the kind of time frame that games of previous generations would drop down to $20-30. DCV and sunsetting has killed Destiny. Removing content to sell it back to players is killing destiny. Thousands of player payed money for what was originally part of F2P. That's gone for everyone.

Its not only bad, its also lazy from bungie's part. The animations on shaw are clearly worse than the rest of npcs, the questline is repetitive and shallow. There's no real sense of introduction to destiny, instead it feels like another list of things to tick out. Bungie should bring back subclass leveling for new players. And subclass trees shouldn't be part of an expansion. The demo version of d1 has more shit

@@MATT-660 I once heard a great solution for tuning invasion with heavy without killing off Heavy Scavenger builds for ad clear. When you cross the portal, your excess ammo is taken away until you return. Of course the ammo would be tuned to each weapon type. For example, I would be down with 2 rockets in an invasion if the frequency of invasions isn't oppressive. The issue would be Exotics like Xeno, because if it follows a strict half clip example, other LMGs would range from okay to sub-optimal in usefulness for invasion but Xeno would still have 6 or 7 shots, not really changing anything about it's potential oppression. It's a lot of work for Bungie, but QoL changes won't matter if the sandbox is a frustrating experience to go through

Real talk I played f2p before beyond light, for about 3 months and still had a blast, you had access to like 4 raids, multiple exotic quests, literally start the game with like 20 quests to do, the forges, access to literally everything that wasn’t strictly DLC

I have to say, when I first booted up the game I had no idea what was going on or what to do. Tons of stuff that looked fun were locked behind dlc or I had to get through public events so I never got that great of an experience. I deleted the game but after a couple months my friend who learned I tried it out begged me to try it again with a couple of his buddies and they explained everything so well that they are the reason I still play this game every now and then. Bungie's ludicrous storytelling and annoying content is by far the big reason that new players will be turned off. My friends were the ones who got me into it, not the game itself

Honestly, and I say this as a F2P myself, I don’t think destiny should have stayed free to play. I think they should have put it for free for like, a month, with zero restrictions on what you could do whatsoever, and after that month, you have to pay for the game in order to play it again. That way, it gets people interested in the game more, and they still secure the revenue. That way, there wouldn’t be a need to change functionality of the game loop in order to get F2P’s to buy the full game. That’s a large part, from what I can gather, of why vendors don’t refresh like they did before. Because that would make it so too little loot would be exclusive to paying players. So the solution was to essentially water down the reward from the core experience, (Strikes, Crucible, Gambit, and Bounties), which hurts the game for everyone, including paying customers.

I'm a year one D2 player that played up until the release of Forsaken because I couldn't afford it. I continued playing even without Forsaken because there were still many activities to do in the game, so I imagine the F2P experience before BL to have been similar. I recently got back into D2 and I was even considering purchasing Forsaken and Shadowkeep for all the content that I'd seen within them, but now it doesn't even seem worth it. I've heard great things about Forsaken in particular and wanted to try out the new supers and now I can't even go back and experience the Red War again. I'm honestly disappointed because although I never played D1, D2 quickly became one of my favorite games. It's sad to see how a game that's created so many memories for me has fallen like this.
