That's totally not the reason why. German is also a Germanic language (as you can tell from the name) and our kids can't speak English like that. The northern countries teach earlier and they also don't dub their films which helps with learning the sound and rhythm of the languageas well as with vocab because you can always read translations in the subtitles. Germans dub everything and our English comprehension lacks therefore enormously compared to northern countries. @@diegoaespitia

I'm not Swedish but if there was a coordinated government campaign telling people in my country to prepare for war I would think that the government knows something that I don't, I would be quite worried and I think mass panic would ensue. Also, if preparing for war means stockpiling food and knowing where a shelter is I'd say the preparation is so obvious as to warrant it a non discussion. The people who need to prepare for war are soldiers. Civilians are just sitting ducks who hope to be able to ride it out alive.

I was a child in the 60s, the height of the Cold War. The talk and media coverage of the Russians/Soviets launching nuked and invasions didn’t seem to bother me by day, but it must have got into my consciousness anyway. Almost every nightmare I had was about Russians invading, then trying to get into every home with guns, including my own. I think these discussions about preparedness should openly include children, who might actually worry more than some adults about the possibility of war. We were excluded from such discussions, adults were “afraid to scare us”, in the 60s, but still absorbed so much anxiety from public talk, media, etc. Children are just younger humans, like older humans, they want and need to know the truth about the world. Plus, adult family members aren’t there every minute to protect their children personally, the vast majority of children are at school a great deal of their time. They must be taught what to do to protect themselves as best they can. I’m so glad Sweden will be joining NATO.

The truth about the world? The fact is, people usually kill to gain freedom, or to keep people from having it. I'm unable to guarantee peace if Western society considers economic sanctions a precursor to war. The West is threatened by economic competition. Best defense Sweden has against CPPP is Finland.

Yes, the North part of Sweden. That's why Sweden and Finland has a defence agreement for many years. Sweden would help Finland if they were invaded. But the south part are not protected by Finland.

Sure, that's how it is for every country. If a country is closer to a country at war then of course they will go through the neighbouring country themself. But it's not like Sweden can't defend themself like finalnd. Sure finland has a lot more reserves, but nothing else. That's the only thing Sweden is lacking compared to Finland. In all other parts Sweden is superior against the finish military in all ways possible. Defence budget, army, navy, air force etc.

With all the problems Sweden has at home, domestically , Swedes all of the sudden prepare for the war with Russia? Looks like Sweden is going to next Ukraine 🤡🤷‍♂️

It's just about being prepared in case Russia will go to war with Europe. Sweden is about to join NATO. But we have already been preparing and stocking up on some emergency food and water etc since the war in Ukraine, it's nothing new. It's just information about how to survive for a few days or more just in case there will be a war.

I live in Sweden and can say that this hysteria is enormous. people see Russians in every bush and think that war will come at any moment... prepping has become so extreme that many goods are out of stock in stores.. such as emergency radios, water canisters, gas stoves camping products..🤣 And a bunker in Sweden 740 square meters was for sale and the bidding was up to 11.5 million SEK... people going insane..

Wow! I'm in Canada and most people are very much asleep! It's almost scary how few people even know about what's going on, let alone willing too talk about it.

@@ChenTeWu can't really compare your situation to mine... there is no indication that Russia is going to invade here.. but people have been brainwashed so hard by the media and the government.. just say the word Russian and people piss themselves. People has become completely mentally ill of Russian paranoia.

You’ll wish you were one of those “insane” people that prepared for the very real possibility Russia has another autistic episode like in Ukraine.

"Reading, writing, and arithmetic aren't the only things these children in Sweden are learning...". If they are learning reading, writing, and arithmetic, they are already learning more than kids in most English speaking countries these days! And they can speak at least two languages. A huge number of English speaking kids I come across these days can barely speak English. What has happened to the English-speaking West is appalling.
