Absolutely we should! Majority of causalities would occur just because there was nowhere close enough to get underground. I think we need bomb shelters everywhere in big cities, but at least we do have cave systems and such here in the Appalachian Mountains. I'm thankful I live out in the boonies. Lol!

It's likely meant to give people hope that the state will maintain control, and that they will survive. More likely starving to death, disease, and battlefield/collateral death is what will actually befall many, many people if serious war breaks out. Using propaganda to blur the image of war is how they get populations to go along with fighting a war, so that those at the top stay in power.

As a 43yo Swede seeing a lot of videos about this pamphlet, I want to clarify this is my 6th during my lifetime. You are only referensing the info in them but others have made such a huge deal out of it. We do get them with a few years in between, updated with new info as new threats or situations change. F ex the introduction of cyber threats or the fact that we now are in NATO etc. This is in no way something that indicates that we are expecting WWIII or "preparing for war". We have always been under the threat of Russia as are many other countries close to Russia so we have always drilled these things into our citizens. They are our only feasable threat. That is why all our military gear is primarily specifically designed to counter Russian designs and to work in arctic conditions rather than designing them "well rounded" to work anywhere in the world. Americans have in the cold war been fearful of being nuked by them, but never really been under a threat of actual invasion. There hasn't been anyone that could realistically pose a threat of invasion to the US in basically a century. And not only talking about military strenght but just the sheer logistics of tackling the huge ass moat that are the oceans sourrounding the US. You also don't have any neighbors of note that are authoritarian and long for empires. Unfortunately the bliss of this and the polarization in the US has led many Americans to even see Russia as something good, as a good example of "traditional christian family values" and repeat their propaganda about Ukraine not realising the risk of Americans dying by Russians actually increases if they win in Ukraine. You don't know, you never fought a war against them, you never been under occupation by them and truly know their mindset and how much of a fascist state they are, oppressing even their own. And you can clearly see what happens to states that fall under their influence or under their rule. They are all oppressive fascist states subordinate to Moscow. Because it is easier to outsource the oppression to someone else so you only need to threaten and opress that leader. We also test and sound our alarm system the first wednesday of the month at 3pm for the last 50 years. So we are used to that as well. Seen some videos of foreigners reporting it as "something terrible just happened in Sweden". No it's just normality for us.

@@hiltonhillhomestead I don't think that anyone want to depopulate the US, but the elite do prioritize things that might not include your survival. If you want to see a prepared county, have a look at Finland! When the Soviet Union was dismantled, Sweden and Finland had the same preparedness. Finland kept building shelters and backups for the backups while Sweden abandoned everything and actually used 8 million gas masks as fuel in power plants. Sweden is more than 60 years behind Finland and hence have a long way and HUGE expense to even get what we had in the 1960's. Check out "Finland, underground cities". They have underground shopping malls with parking garage, that can become bomb shelters in seconds, and the food, medication, water, ventilation.. is always fully stocked and running at 100,0%

Yeah. Meaning that for example foreign exchange students, newly arrived asylum seekers, someone from the EU (or other western country) living just a few months in Sweden for work - ALL have to fight (or at least do civilian work crucial for the war effort) and will be denied approval to leave the country. I do however think that Sweden will be lenient with this rule and probably let non citizens leave. Even in wartime it is pretty impossible to legally require non citizens to take that responsibility and trap them in Sweden, and in some cases you maybe don’t want foreigners in your military or other crucial sectors during a war.

The pamphlet is the modern version of the information in the official phone books distributed in Sweden during the Cold War. Much of it is the same, and there was a very similar pamphlet released some years ago when it was realized that "the eternal peace" (1991-2014) was over. A couple of generations of people and politicians had been lulled into believing that nothing bad was going to happen in our neighborhood, so there was a feeling of complacency that was definitely shattered on 24 February 2022. I'm 59, and a volunteer in our National Defense Force. In case of a crisis or war, our unit is tasked with protecting important infrastructure. The state of preparedness is a shadow of what it was during the Cold War, though, when we had stockpiles, from fuel to coffee and tobacco, that would last half a year even if we were completely cut off from the rest of the world. It is good that people realize that what's happening to the Ukrainians could happen to you.

There is a civil defence program in the US, it's not so much active since WW2, but they do have a website and you can sign up. Farmers, child care providers, ect. all helped here at home during WW2, they had a whole series of badges/patches depending on what each person did. Helping watch children while women worked, teaching people how to start and maintain their victory gardens... Lots of people did as much at home as the people on the front lines did. I hope if things get to that point people will step up but there isn't the same sense of community these days. People are far more self-serving, but fingers crossed that changes if things go south.

I'm Swedish. It's quite flabberghasting to see the surprise around the world. When the pamphlet arrived, I browsed it through and noticed there was really nothing new. I find it too politically correct actually, not really being up front with all threats that people actually discuss from time to time. The first version of this pamphlet arrived in 1943 and has been updated since then, every now and then. It used to be in the phone books that were automatically sent out to all households once upon a time. It's nothing new. It's nothing special. We're used. We've had 40+ wars with the Russians since the first time we attacked them several hundreds of years ago. Hell, even the word "enemy" is interchangeable with "Russian" in Swedish. Last time we fought, Sweden lost Finland, in the early 1800's. Being quite old, I remember the cold war and the constant threat of nuclear war as a kid. The current times almost feel... normal, kind of, sadly.

14:45 The reason for this is NOT that the government care about your pet. They don´t. The reason is that people have been staying behind to care for there pet even when the situation was to dangerous and they got killed. So this is really about saving humans, not pets. The pet food also have a secondary usage... that.. well. they might not want to write. Human food. eating pet food is heck of a lot better than starving. And even if it never goes that far, if you have no pet food, some owners may give them of the stock of human foods, that .. well we really can´t afford. Its worth saying that i´m from Sweden and i sufficiently old to remember the cold war. Those pamphlets was sent out ever year during the cold war, and sometimes also posters, that was put up somewhere they where out of sight, but you saw them every day (like inside of the door to the where you have your clothes) My dad had his war service assigned to his normal workplace.... Or... in reality, it probobly was the opposite. He was assigned to that place first, then he got a job there becasue he was assigned hence could be there on place if a war broke out suddenly. I probobly cant go into details, but the bomb shelter of that workplace was larger, and like a lot larger than the actual workplace. Probably like 5 times larger.

The Swedes have their civil defence systems wired tight. Always have. In North America, we've gotten slack because we figure our relative remoteness from other countries, plus the US nuclear umbrella, renders us more or less immune to attack. And in fairness, it would be a massive and likely prohibitive logistical undertaking for any country to invade the North American continent and hold any amount of territory for anything more than the short term. The interesting thing about the booklet Sweden issued is that it doesn't just cover the issue of how to prepare for, and survive a nuclear attack, but it also covers how to deal with conventional warfare - as in, the Russians are invading Sweden and engaging in urban combat.

Sweden does not have a second amendment style approach to civilian firearms however - which is the best crisis management and civilian protection the U.S. gives its citizens. Owning a gun is like 100x more difficult in Sweden than America - even if Sweden compared to most European countries have among the most relaxed restrictions on owning firearms (after Switzerland), but in order to own one legally you need a hunting license (even if you don’t plan on hunting), background/mental health checks and store your guns in 3 different armed boxes where every dismantled part is separated from the other. But I am thankful for the more active role Sweden’s government have in informing about prepping and civil defense, being blunt that prepping is a personal responsibility and people shouldn’t expect to be saved by our otherwise pretty relaxed nanny state for several weeks or months (or that the state won’t provide you with food and survival tools using taxpayer money - you need to buy it yourself), alongside with millions of still well maintained and accesible public fallout shelters able to withstand nuclear blasts. Almost every apartment building have a fallout shelter and in major cities like Stockholm the entire metro system and underground parking garages are designed to withstand nuclear blasts and be quickly transformed to be mega shelters. So essentially the entire Swedish urban population fits in to the fallout shelters in case of nuclear war and most people in cities live no more than 5 minutes away from a public shelter.

😁🇸🇪🌞 One flabbergasted and mesmerized swede here; I got my hard copy of that pamphlet in my mailbox yesterday. As about 5 million other swedish households will get within the coming two weeks. Another 6 million copies will be sent out to digital mailboxes, here in Sweden. So that every single swede will get informed. However! Right now I'm pretty convinced it won't stop there. Since this "swedish pamphlet" is now breaking the internet, big time - it's everywhere, gdi, every single channel is talking about it! 😳 - I wouldn't be surprised if some 100 - 200 million copies of this pdf-broschure (in any preferred language) will be downloaded from our poor swedish website. 😖 Imagine, this very small, yellow broschure becoming the most well known swedish "export product" since... what, ABBA? Since IKEA? Since smörgåsbord? Since meatballs? 😯 Since surströmming? Nooo! Not bigger than surströmming, of course. (🐟, sour, fermented fish). Not possible. Surströmming? Never heard of surströmming? The absolutely most effective, devastating biological/chemical weaponry the swedes have ever come up with! 💥😄 It WILL defeat any of our enemies, that's for sure! I can't really tell if "surströmming" is mentioned in the yellow pamphlet, but please, trust me... Putin, Xi and Kim better beware! 🥳 The swedes are not playing around. 🇸🇪 Love y'all from Sweden! ❤

The people we let in are a bigger threat than China or russia. Cause they are already destroying this country.

You should look into either buying/ building a tornado shelter for your current homestead. Even if you decide to sell out an relocate to another part of the country, it should increase your resale value of your homestead. I know, I use to use them when I lived an worked in the Midwest alot every spring. Even made sure some of the campgrounds had them when I lived in an Rv to, almost a no brainer in the spring an summer in the Midwest. I literally hate NBC gear, but the alternative is alot worse, just make sure you can drink water from a canteen when wearing a gas mask, you will sweat alot in a mopp suit jus sayin. Thx for the vid Magic

Civil defense is a vital part of American security. Every citizen needs to know the dangers and what to do or where to go in case of crisis.

If you want to see something similar, Poland has released similar kind of pamphlet, which you may check out. I can even give you a link if you tell me (not giving it in the comment itself, because YT may remove the whole comment)
