And what makes it even funnier is that there was barely any reason to compete about these subjects. The culture's and welfare systems are so similar! If I wasn't from Finland and didn't have my bias, the distinctive landscapes of Norway would give it an edge in my books.

While I definitely agree far too many elders struggle being younger myself I also see a lot of young people who struggle and don't get what they need. People where both in a house hold work but will probably never be able to get to actually own their own home (also in other places than Oslo). I sadly think we're moving faster towards a much bigger class divide in Norway and no one seem to be talking about it.

There's much more to Sweden.. Nature: Up north we got some of the oldest mountains in the world, gives almost an empty, apocalyptic feel which is super cool. Lots of reindeers and Sami there. During winters it's super dark and for a short period the sun never rises. You can also see Northern lights then. During summers it's super bright and during midsummer the sun never sets so you have midnight sun. down south we have many large archipelagos. Sweden has the most islands of any country in the world with over 260000 islands. Allemansrätten means you can go anywhere in nature without being afraid that you're trespassing on someones land. Even if you're on private land you can forage and camp. Stockholm is sometimes called the Venice of the north. Built on several islands and divided between the lake Mälaren and the Baltic sea. She nailed that it has a ton of nature, with lots of parks. You can visit Djurgården which is an island only minutes from the city which is almost untouched nature with some old buildings from the 1700s. Stockholm is also one of few old cities untouched by ww2 and has many very old buildings (some from the 1500s). She also forgot to mention the very long maternity (and paternity) leave that parents get in Sweden when having children. Means you gets over a year of paid leave from your work to take care of you child. Healthcare is free until you're 18, then afterwards it's very subsidized. You rarely pay more than $20 for a doctors appointment, even if you'd maybe have to get an x-ray or do certain tests. Also if you have to visit a hospital many times in a year, you get a free card which makes all hospital visits free for a year. sorry I just had to defend my country :) Finland and Norway are great too of course

Three very similar countries. Different landscapes where Sweden has a bigger variety, Norway the most breathtaking views and Finland the multitude of lakes. For welfare, social life et c I think a Korean would find all three very similar. And we are close like siblings, including Denmark.
Ай бұрын
When looking closer, the variety in Norway I would say is pretty much on par with Sweden. For instance, in the north part of south Norway, close to the border with Sweden, there are almost desert looking, stony (lots of loose stones all over), steppe-like areas with wide landscapes. Near Stavanger, some places look almost like a mix of Denmark, Scotland and even England. And we have some island archipelago areas, a bit like Sweden. Forests like Finland and Sweden, and highland "tundra steppes" like in Finnmark and Hardangervidda. Alaska looking places, in areas near glaciers. And more. Our marine life in our "actual real ocean" is also at times insane, people catch weird fish that are from 250 to 400 kg and stuff, and whales and dolphins, even *giant turtles* have been spotted in Norwegian waters. There are even a few (cold water) coral reefs. Etc.

Many of the arguments here applies to all Three countries. High taxes, Sami People, beautiful landscapes, many many lakes. There are many similarities. But also differences. I'm a Swede and I want to say Sweden is the best of the three, but I can't. Because there are things wich is better in Norway and Finland. For me it is very much a tossup, it's basically what a person prefers that will make the choice of wich of theese three countries you want to live in.

Finland was ranked the best country by World economic Forum conference in Switzerland Davos in 2019 and was also ranked the happiest country seven times in a row by World happiness index report and UN in 2018-2024. The reasons are approximately the same. Finland is at the top in almost every category.

I am biased of course, cause I'm Norwegian, but aside from industry (where Sweden used to be really innovative), I can't see what Sweden has to offer, that Norway don't. The other way around, there are some stuff like the mountains and Svalbard or even Antarctica (granted you have to have the right education to inhabit the research station there). We feel there is not much difference in the culture, although I'd say the Swedish have more high culture and Finland has a really interesting language. The Sami people inhabit all three countries. Economically Norway is the safest, but the taxes are also enormous. Finland has nice wintery stuff, like Ice Hotels and Sauna culture, but we have apporpriated alot of that. If I didn't live in Norway, Sweden would be high on my list, right behind Switzerland.

Things that Sweden has to offer that Norway doesnt includes Allemansrätten, like the lady in the video said, which gives you a lot more freedom, even more than she mentioned. I also think fika and the culture, the traditions in Sweden are unique and great, and I feel like foreigners would love them. Also Swedes are more reserved and keep to themselves, dlnt really like to initiate clnversations that much, but are very nice once you start a conversation, which I feel like people would enjoy. Also southern Sweden is a bit hotter than Norway which people could like, other then that they are kncredibly similar and have a lot in common to offer

Well in a way she is correct. Finland has a system that allows you to get money from city/ state if you don't have enough to live but most poor people don't know about it (which is rare) or are so egoistic that they don't want to get "free" money from sossu. I'm from relatively poor family and not for a moment i felt that we were poor. My parents took me to a movies few times a year. Most people who claim they don't have enough money to spend on their children for movies or something, themselfs usually drink alcohol or smoke. True poor people are very very very rare in Finland. Of course these days things are somewhat more difficult than in the 90's or 2000 but not much.

As a Finn I have lived in Norway, but also travelled a lot in Sweden and in Denmark. I haven't been to Iceland, unfortunately. To be totally honest, I think Norway and Sweden are equally as lovely. Personally I am not that fond of high mountains. I visited Stavanger (visit only summer time) and it is really pretty city. It has really beautiful and dramatic sceneries. One to be mention is Pulpit Rock in norwegian "Preikestolen." If you like hiking and don't have a fear of hights, I've heard that is worth visiting. (I do like hiking, but high places freak me out, so even the wild horses would not have drag me there🤢). Instead I am very fond of lakes (I am originally from the lake district of Finland, maybe that's why) so if you have the chance, get a rental car from Stockholm and go and see the big lakes Vänern and Vättern. Lapland it is worth visiting for several reasons; during the height of summer in nordic countries, you can see the sun at the local time of midnight, which means it never gets dark. Rent a cabine (further away from tourist areas, that is if you want to experience total silence) and hopefully by the lake and if it has sauna (in Sweden they might have in some cabines, it is not as common as here in Finland) anyway heat the sauna and along with it enjoy swimming in the lake, the silence, clear air and the midnightsummer. After you would feel refreshed and invigorated and would have good night sleep. And in the winter time, if you feel brave enough you can try also ice-swimming. Aurora Borealis (meaning the Northern Lights) painting the sky with different shades of green, frozen marsh and snow flakes. Finally I am sorry, but I take the liberty to advertise taking the overnight cruise from Stockholm to Helsinki during summertime. Why? The archipelago is incredible beautiful and if daylight and the weather conditions allows it is worth taking. I wouldn't be fair if I didn't mention also Denmark here. The Capital Copenhagen is beautiful and it's Tivoli (the world's secondly oldest amusement park) is worth visiting💕.

To elaborate on Swedish welfare: Healthcare is free until you turn 20, dental was free until the year you turned 23 (current government has decided to change it to 18). For medications you only ever pay $500, and then you get 365 days of free medication before you start paying again. If you get hospitalised, the maximum amount you will pay for staying in hospital is also $500, regardless of what treatment you need. If you're unemployed, you have the right to a few things, so each month you send in your expenses and the government will provide you just enough to get by, unless of course you have unemployment insurance, in which case you get 80% of what your salary was, for up to a full year. Students get paid $300 per month to study, and then you can take out a loan for $900 per month. This loan has an interest rate of 0.16% and payments are based on last year's income. You also don't have to pay anything back for the first two years after you're done studying. Placing your child in daycare is subsidised and there is a maximum amount that any person will pay in case they have multiple children in daycare. Parental leave is a total of 14 months and can be decided between the parents, but also grandparents. If you need extended sick leave, you have 364 days to recover before you have to leave your job, this because the government pays your sick leave after the first 7 days of being away. By law, you are entitled to 4 weeks consecutive vacation and an additional 5th week each year. If you do not utilise your 5th week ever in a period of 5 years, you can be forced to utilise them. If you have children, you have an additional 6th week each year. Of course, many, if not all of these, also go for Norway, Finland, Denmark and Iceland. All this is just to say that paying taxes isn't a bad thing, so long as the government can be trusted to put it towards the betterment for everyone's living situation.

The city I live in has one central mosque and one smaller mosque (not sure if either is shia or sunni). Halal products are also easily available in pretty much all cities, the closest halal supermarket to me personally is 1.5km away. Children who's parents speak a foreign language also have the right to "home language" classes, so they can be taught their parents native language. Children also have the right to access a safe and private area to pray during school hours, and all school meals can be, and shall be made/adjusted to the child's dietary restrictions, regardless of reason. People who flee to Sweden and seek refuge, if allowed to stay, can apply for "establishment funding" which is money the government gives the person so that they can start renting, start attending Swedish language courses while also purchasing necessary items. There are also many integration programmes that help those who arrive in Sweden under less favorable conditions to find work and gain independence. Accomodations for religious clothing/attire in schools or at work are mandatory, even in hospital or other medical scenes, except for long sleeves, but a hijab is perfectly fine to wear, the hospital I worked in even had hair+neck covers workers could use and return just like regular scrubs. Another thing for children in regards to refuge is the school law. So long as the child (person under 18) attends school, they have the right to stay in Sweden. Reason I bring up refuge so much is because majority of our Muslim population came here as refugees, or their parents or grandparents did so, alot of our laws that protect people with a foreign ethnicity or different religion, are laws designed to protect refugees. My country isn't perfect, but every chance I and many of my generation get, we do what we can with our vote to make sure that everyone can feel safe and welcome.

@noisemaker-f3x If you are completely covered, besides face and hands, I would advise you against living in any Scandinavian country. Reason being is that people there need to expose large areas of their skin (as much as possible) to the sun during the brief summer months, to make up for the long dark winter months (Nov- March) and in general, rainy and windy days all year around. If you can't do that for religious reasons, then over the years, you will have some serious health issues. In addition, if your ramadan ends up in June/July, then your time frame for eating is VERY short.

Everything they said can be found in all three countries basically. What Sweden and Finland lacks are fjords and what Norway lacks are thousands of lakes and dense forest like in Sweden and Finland. Also these three countries have almost 700000 islands all together. About the Polar Bears.. I am positive 99.9% of Norwegians have never seen one in the wild since they can only be found on the very very remote island of Svalbard near the Arctics. And lastly we have high taxes but we also have a good salary with a lot of benefits in the society (including Denmark) that many countries lacks.

Norway is easily best. I mean Sweden politics are a literal nightmare and there are a lot of criminals there. Finland is isolated and most Finnish people are poor. If you really look into Norwegian documentaries about society, nature, cultures etc. you will find that Norway is truly the best option out of most countries today, especially if you stand for equality and peace. Also in a few years when global temperatures are high, Norway is gonna be a perfect temperature.
