I used to work in a music shop and one of the guys in Dismember used to get his guitars setup and fixed by me before/after tours. One time he came in with a HHM-2 that had a busted pot. (For like the fifth time since they didn't use gates back then, just stomping it on and off between breaks) Anyways... Since i knew what the settings was i asked him if it wasn't simpler to just remove all of the pots and solder "straight through" "Shure why not.. I'm not turning those suckers anyways" We ended up with a HM-2 with no knobs what so ever... and since all the nobs "steal" a little even att full throttle that one ended up being the "Turbo-HM-2" Later he told me he used it on "Where Iron Crosses Grow" since it had a little more of everything.

One if my ex-girlfriends is from Gothenburg. In fact, she moved back there, eventually. I remember hanging out with her & her mom when I was younger. I was on acid & they spoke in Swedish. It freaked me out, because I thought they were speaking backwards. 😂 Crazy trip. I wonder what Ola thinks of Hexenhaus. They weren’t death metal, but Mike Wead’s rhythm guitar work with that band was a MAJOR influence on my rhythm playing. I listened to “Tribute to Insanity” & “Edge of Eternity” a lot when I started playing thrash metal (before that I played punk).

i think everybody sets every amp to sound as they personaly like...not the way the amp is ment to be set up...for example i like bass 7.8, mids 6.5, treble 4.5 OR bass 7, mids 4, treble 4....in every amp try...then if is not sounding how i like it...i start analyzing the amp: is it focused in lows, mids or highs? and then start dialing again

Sacrilege to purists, But If you turn the "Dist" all the way down and use the gain from the amp, you can bring some of the amps character in while retaining that "buzzsaw" sound. I'd love to see what tonal sculpting could be achieved using the HM-2 that way with the Randal Satan.

If I remember correctly Mika from Rotten Sound dials the dist back on his HM-2. All those modern bands that use the HM-2 make small alterations to that all-10 setting. I also found you can also get a neat octave down effect if you set the high knob to some low value.

You can easily grab a couple from Ebay or such for 40 - 50 USD. It's not really a rare pedal :) Boss made a ton of them in the 80s and it was very popular then in hair metal(!).

5.40 in video, Ola playing raw chugging thrash riffs with the Boss HM-2, pure GOLD, this is exactly the type of riffing I like playing best with this cult pedal, as well as many other old school metal guitarists in the 80's when this pedal existed for some years before the Swedish death metal scene 🤘

I paused this video, went to educate myself on entombed, now 1 hour later, I'm back as an entombed fan. They're really unique, each song has something a little quirky about it aether it be a load of reverb on the vocals or an unusual drum beat etc. Very nice!
