The thought crossed my mind while watching the video of how some people say they would believe in God if they saw a miracle, perhaps turning water into wine, healing the sick etc, don't we all experience the greatest miracle of all when we see and experience first hand the creation of new life? This video series about hatching the chicks has been so fascinating, thanks for taking the time to share.

Yes! And he gave a very elegant argument for the existence of a Creator: There can not be an "information-based system" (like a computer program), without a Computer Programmer. Beautifully said by Simeon.

Very informational! Thank you! I've watched for a couple years on a youtube channel a guy who raises ducks and they're almost the same a chicken, ready to go from the moment they hatch. I like how you pointed out that a chick is born knowing everything they need to know to live, and if they are missing something, they die. Very straight to the point.

I like the sand idea. I use sand for the bedding as well, it helps the manure harden, won't float in the water dish, grit, heats up like a heating mat to warm the chicks and doesn't get in the way of their food. I have used sawdust because I can get it for free but I prefer the sand, so many good reasons to use it. Enjoying your videos.

I love the fact that you don't kill the baby roosters. Similar programmes are starting here in Austria, too, and apprently, the young roosters sell pretty well. I myself like them for making chicken broth, as they are smaller than hens.

If I'm not wrong on the date but last year I had over 40 baby chicks hatch. Unfortunately and devastating only 10 lasted to survive. I could not understand why they were dying. Fresh water and plenty of food was available. The environment was perfect and the area was clean. If a disease were to get to them that might be my only reasoning. Quite unfortunate but now we've hatched 10 and waiting on a dozen more very soon. I actually placed a rooster with the little ones and it's crazy that he didn't kill them and actually acts like their mother. I have a video and all but I think it's the smartest one out of the other roosters. Takes care of the hens too! I had to cage him because of the fights he loses and leaves him still standing but bleeding and bruised (recently). A couple years back I found him behind an object hiding. Bleeding everywhere and like the brave little rooster he is he still stood. I had to treat him but I couldn't be there the entire time so I questioned whether it'd be okay to leave him with the newborn chicks. I left him in there for awhile and I stood nearby for a few hours and checking in on him but the most beautiful thing out that is he does no harm to the little ones. Ironic that when they grow(mainly the roosters) they'll fight him even if he cared for them. I wish I could grow another rooster like it but it's a rare one.

Wonderful video! You have me interested in getting Bresse chickens. I found 2 or 3 breeders who sell (American) Bresse chicks. Wow they cost about $10 a chick. But i really want tp get Bresse> Mal sehen.... Questions 1. Is it not necessary to dip each chicks beak into the water? 2. How much space is needed per chick? We plan on getting a couple dozen chicks and we will keep them inside in our laundry room in some kind of container boxes with the warming light. I'm worried we won't have enough space for the right size box or boxes. Living here in Colorado (zone 5) the winter may be too cold. Those chocks are adorable! It's so great that you're sharing your farm & family life with the world. Thanks for that. You're a natural in front of the camera and behind! Thanks to your wife for helping you make this possible too!

Using red lights (other than the infrared) in a brooder helps prevent the chicks from pecking at each other as they grow in confinement. With a white light, if one chick gets a sore, the other chicks will peck it to death.
@rakoon6788 жыл бұрын
Hi, I would like you to do a video on the whole stages of hatching. In a previous video you mentioned that Bresse eggs have to be about 63.5g which was quite new to me. Maybe you can tell us more about certain weight concerns for different heritage chickens. Also I once read, that Bresse need a more moist atmosphere to develop in the egg stage. I have had relative little success by hatching Bresse eggs and I was just about giving up until I saw this video. You definitely have a good hatch rate.

@JustinC9058 жыл бұрын
Awesome. Did you get a 100% hatch rate from the candle lighting and incubation? How many are you keeping? Amazes me that they know how to eat/ drink right away, so you don't have to waste any time using any type of process to feed them. I guess if one is hungry enough, they'll pick at anything until they digest it. Would this be the 2nd stage of inoculation on basis of mortality? First possibly being early hatchlings, or is there any type of staging like that? I'd imagine that you have to watch out for disease/ weakness, etc. at this point since they are quite vulnerable. Sounds like a nice little business: incubating chicks to sell. :) Best of luck! They already look super healthy.

What is your hatchability rate in your incubator that you're using here? I have one wooden incubator and it's a old one, probably made in the 1960s. It does not have a electric turner In it, the eggs are turned by hand, but I am going to try to get someone to add a electric turnner to it and trust then it does a better job hatching. I have two styrofoam incubators with egg turners and both have a fan, but still I can't seem to get that high hatch rate as you. Can you give me some information on what your humidity should be from the beginning of setting the eggs through the time of hatching? I've read and heard all different answers and I am confused. Your advice is greatly appreciated. Do they still make the wooden incubator that you are using? If so I would like to buy one. I know you said you got it from Germany if I'm not mistaking, and if I could get a phone number and address I would like to purchase one. I'm glad your incubator has worked well for you. I'm still looking for more of your videos they are full of information. I live in America in a small town called Quapaw,Oklahoma. And you are from Sweden? My friend we are many, many miles apart, what would we do without the internet? Lol.
