I bought one small (not bambino though) last September. The roots where really small. When I researched online i realised that my country, Iceland, is maybe not the best place for this plant but I put it in my brightest window (under a radiator). In the beginning of January it started to grow a new leaf!! I was so surprised 😃 No grow light (and we are talking about only 3-5 hours a daylight in December. ) The new leaf is standing upright and growing and my ficus is just perfect even though there is almost no sun at this time of year I’m really proud and can’t wait for the summer!!

I had a 1ft tall bambino that left outside under the rain and sun (more than 30c here), I fed it with sheep manure but it was mostly ignored. It grew into 4 feet tall and branched 4 new stems at once! I was ecstatic, I repotted it in a big pot and moved its location. Then it died! If I had watched your video earlier, I’d have saved my bambino 😭. Great detailed content!

People say the bambinos grow slower than the regular fiddle figs with my regular fiddle fig has grown maybe an inch in the last year and my Bambino that I’ve only had for a month has grown 4 inches in one month . So maybe I just got one with good genetics. But it’s growing like a weed!! Sorry about your bambino. Pinch the bud off at the beginning of spring and you should get about 3 new ones each time. Then you don’t have to prune and lose height.

Non-Swedish weather checking in here. I have one growing in my yard, under another, much larger tree. I've never done anything for it for as long as I've lived here, and it seems happy enough. Although, being outdoors in a windy city, its leaves have a few holes and other signs of damage here and there.

@Potty Mouthed Planter darn! I don't eat bananas 😒 I used to, but their high sugar content is a turn-off for me, so, I stopped buying them. They are high in phosphorous -supposedly good for us to eat for that reason - and I wonder if maybe the phosphorous is one reason the Fig leaves like the banana peel, as well. I'm thinking I may get a few really over-ripe ones to use for wiping the peel on my Fig tree leaves (about once a month) and I now have 2 of them 😅. Glad I watched this...I'm new to the Fig tree community, and was just about ready to spring for some of that figleaf shine spray😒 - now I know better👍

Love ur video. Ficus Lyrata is one of the first batch plants I got, in my case it glow well close to southwest window( 4hours sunshine after noon) without applying fertilizer.I didn't even move it in hot summer when it's 38-40 degree, it might leave a little dark dot in leaf but almost ignorable. This plant is not fragile and I feel it's quite adaptable to environment, I had my air condition on in summer and winter, and sometimes I forgot to water. I did notice the bottom leaves got brown a bit in winter, but overall it's healthy. It only stop glowing when the pot is too small for it.So do remember to change pot, it grows fast.

I had a fiddle leaf about thirty years ago and I gave it away. Just bought another one with two shoots about five feet tall for about 49.99. I saw the local grocery store has the bambino ones about a foot tall for 9.99. I waited a couple of weeks before I watered it. I prefer taking my plants outside and watering the leaves with a hose. I have a tray with wheels so I can move the plant outside for its waterings. Since I live in Scottsdale, the house gets cooler than the plant would like, however, I do spray the plant with water each day and wipe the dust off the leaves at least once per week. So far so good after about five weeks. When I repot, I like to use clay pots so the water wicks out of the plant quicker. I might try the banana trick on one of the lower leaves. There was slight browning on a couple of the lower leaves when I bought the plant. Hard to tell with these plants if they are happy or not. Thanks for the tips guys.

So spraying the plant with water every day would help the plant with the lack of humidity in the house? I bought mine yesterday and even though the video is very informative I feel so scared. This is my first time taking of this plant as I can see it is very sensitive and delicate. I have this tip to get very shining leaves. I take the egg white and a cotton ball and rub it the leaves and you get a beautiful shine leaves. And I did it yesterday after buying the ficus Lyrata plant. Please let me know if the spray with water is ok because I don’t have a good place for it and the humidity is low inside the house. Thanks
