You are so complete in the care and "growth" and "branching" of the ficus. Very succinct. Appreciate this so much. Subscribed and thumbs up. Will be referring to this many times.

The best video on the fig tree that I've seen. Now excuse me, I'll be notching!
@juanmacias4854 Жыл бұрын
Good video, but disagree on watering. On my first Fig plant I followed the said advice above and nearly lost it to too much watering. What I found through trial and error, is that the plant loves a lot of water but likes to dry out. As such I water mine profusely outside, soak it for about 5 minutes with water running out the bottom. Why, this takes out all the salts in the soil. I then let it drain for 15 to 3 minutes, take it inside and put it into its decorative pot. There it sits growing and looking beautiful for about a month. At the month cycle I test the soil, if it's still registering moist, I let it go another week. Once it registers to the dry side (water meter), I repeat the watering process. My first Fig has grown to over 7 feet and has grown 3 additional branches. Hope this helps.

Great video that explains so much more details than other videos I have watched ! But I have one more question that is it a good ideal to plant fiddle leaf in a self watering pot ? Will it be too much moisture to it ? Looking forward to your response, thank you for the helpful video !
@Mlspky Жыл бұрын
I’ve found self watering pots cause roots to stay too wet. It keeps soil at the bottom too wet and soil near the top not wet enough. It’s best to top water so ALL the soil gets watered thoroughly and can wash all the minerals and salts out.

Will notching work on a rubber plant? Tried to propagate plant with water and dirt and failed miserably! I don't want to cut more off the plant. Thanks for all the great info. Unless you go to a plant nursery, people at big box stores know nothing about plant care.

I wanna get the chance to thank you for every video, I have ficus lyrata it's small and young. I got it last winter, when it didn't put any new leaves till late spring, then it was hard worker 😉. Again this winter it put 2 new leaves but they are extremely small and full of these oedema.. they are almost totally red. Shall they grow bigger?! And how to activate having bigger leaves in general? Thanks once again, waiting for your explanations. Best wishes 🙂

By the way I have the baby type of lyrata, so I know that the leaves are relatively smaller than the one you are showing, but I meant the ones produced in winter are smaller than the others
