This is a great animation. And for those who say you shouldn’t show this to your kids, I think it can still teach them a valuable lesson- that life isn’t fair all the time, and that they’re going to have to live in a world that constantly challenges them to endure and try harder in the face of doing what they love.

At first I felt sad for the ending. Then I realized the real meaning of “sweet cocoon” was something that you get easily by stealing other’s efforts. The fat lazy caterpillar didn’t try to built its own cocoon step by step. Instead, she took someone else’s cocoon which obviously didn’t fit her and yet she still tried to make it her own. I think the ending was trying to imply that even if you succeed from taking short cuts, the success won’t last for long because it doesn’t really belong to you.

I figured this was how it was gonna go. Showing the bird shadow in the beginning is actually called "foreshadowing." This reminds of the video on KZbin of a guy finding a mouse in his trash can. He feeds it and then takes it out to the woods and lets it go, but out of nowhere a hawks sweeps down and grabs the mouse.

The ending is pretty funny. Some people are saying it wasn't a happy ending, I think it was neither a happy nor a bad ending, to generalize the meaning I think it's about how all that work we put into something can turn out to be for nothing, but then we'll just move on with our lives.

Толстая ленивая гусеница не пыталась шаг за шагом построить свой собственный кокон. Вместо этого она взяла чужой кокон, который явно ей не подходил, и все же попыталась сделать его своим. Я думаю, что финал пытался показать, что даже если вам удастся сделать короткий путь, успех не будет длиться долго, потому что он на самом деле не принадлежит вам.

The way the sun shines through the insects' semi-transparent bodies, the facial movements of the characters, the amazingly detailed textures, the lush setting complete with subtle background animations...seriously, this looks like either Dreamworks or Pixar made it!

Instead, more often, it really is by the understanding of the grand design of it, always beautiful, but survival in it is ugly and harsh. Beautiful storyline great animation I was laughing all the way through and I knew where it was going to end because this was a comedy and a comedy always has a pratfall in the end and of course her pratfall was showing off to the boys her beautiful new wings and of course doing it right in front of the sun where this bird would be able to fly by and grab her it's perfect execution it would have been a movie with you and beings in it but oh my gosh it might hurt my child's mind I hate to tell you this but my kids thought it was hilarious because they see nature all the time and don't protect my kids from things that really happened and this was a cartoon they see worse than this on the cartoons they watch cheese gosh get a life if you think your kids are going to be and those of you who have been your adults get a life this was one of the best cute little shorts in a while I've seen an animation thank you very much

Minh thành Đặng I thought it was a very happy ending. The caterpillar achieved its goal of becoming a butterfly and the bird achieved its goal of getting a great, although small, snack. Life in the wild, by standard, is not long. It’s kill and be killed anywhere in nature all the time and if you’re not killing you’re going to die of starvation. Even the caterpillar kills parts of plants by eating them. Going by the laws of nature, death in some fashion was a fitting ending. Often for people living in regular society live their lives and complete their goals and retire. Then, they die because they have nothing else to accomplish having no purpose they can see for themselves. That kind of death is sad. At least the butterfly provided a snack for the bird continuing the system of nature as a whole.

So.. I just showed this to my kids.. Even I was shocked to see the ending.. My kids were so sad.. So I just came up with a moral.. The 2 little bugs went out of their way to help the caterpillar. But when it turned into a butterfly, it never thanked the 2 little bugs.. The butterfly puffed with pride.. And alas the ending.. If the butterfly would have come down and thanked the bugs, it could have avoided the mishap, perhaps! Instead of flying with pride one must look down with humility and gratitude. ..!!! Do you guys agree??

Funny ending. My five year old watched this and was fine. He was shocked that the butterfly got caught and says he didn’t like how it needed but was fine. Not crying to having a crisis.
