The year, 1975 ... I was 8 , at the bowling alley . Had a quarter , this kid I knew who was a couple years older than I. Suggested we play 2 songs on the juke box . Me I was kind of naive about music . So of course I let him choose the songs . The two songs he chose were sweet , Fox on the run and kiss , rock and roll all night . Opened me up to a whole world of audio bliss . I'll never forget that moment .

That's an awesome story the music then was SO much more creative than the Shit now. I wish I had a time machine. Where are you from AND what's going on there with THE VIRUS? @@kathryndogoloff5297 I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. I am living in Albuquerque, NM , now . Yes that is a great memory. Sweet kinda fell off after 75 , but I definitely became a huge kiss fan . But fox on the run will always hold a special place in my heart . I can still feel that joy I felt that day . With the opening key board and the vocals bursting in I...I...I DONT WANNA KNOW YOUR NAME . the Corona virus here , schools shut down , converts and other large events canceled. Grocery stores empty of stock , starting tomorrow all restraunts will be carry out only . Me I was between jobs and my new job has been put on hold. My wife works from home so no change there .

Same world dude, ever see the Wings Over America concert, that tour started only a year after Fox was recorded. Smoke, lasers, at least for Live and Let Die. Anyway FOTR is my favourite revenge song ever, and before they were ever called revenge songs, although Weird Al's One More Minute is probably close enough to tie. At any rate I largely agree with you, with the exception of Disco ( especially Disco ), and 99% of Country music I miss those radio years, hell I even miss the Bubblegum Pop.

I believe that the Sweet are the most underrated band in history. Arguably, I was very young when they were in their prime. Yet from reading many sources, they had more success in their native UK and Europe than in the USA. They were also pioneers of the 1970s UK Glam Rock movement which wasn't as recognized in the USA. After Steve Priest's passing, his daughter Lisa said on their live "Hellraiser" performance(video on KZbin) that she was 5 years old when her daddy performed. And I agree--the Sweet were a great band indeed!
@glamgal7106 Жыл бұрын
@@andymatthews7617 I could be wrong on this, but it seemed like Sweet got more recognition in their native UK and in Europe but not as much in the USA. If you mean they didn't get true recognition as musicians, do you mean that because of what the critics said? Memories of Elementary school days. Teach was so cool , at recess he had a record player and would let us bring in records and play the whole period. This song was the coolest song in the world when your 8-9 years old. I was a huge KISS fan (back then how wasn't). I brought in my new Love Gun album. Sweet, Nazareth, Paul McCartney and Wings, Queen, Slade, and even the Carpenters. Those where the best times I ever had in school.

Loved this song since i first heard it on the radio! 😍✨ Wish Brian and Mick were still here. At least they will always be alive in the music. With every new listener thier spirit remains alive. How Sweet it is, all I can think of is playing air hockey, and when this song would play at our roller rink everybody would hit the floor. Memories indeed. Thank you for posting this.

From the opening synthesizer swirl to the stomping, riff-heavy verse to the insanely catchy chorus - this is Sweet still in their pomp. 'Fox On The Run' is a dynamic, supercharged record that 47 years on, still has plenty of bite.

This "sweet" band lighting up the Rock'n Roll skies early and mid 70ties but seldom heard these days, in fact they resided on the top twenties for a good while back then. They deserve to be remembered and to have some credit...

I was 7 or 8 years old when this song came out... I remember lying in bed with my little radio by my side, listening to this song played on AM radio every night in Chicago. My sister's bedroom was next to mine, and we would listen to WLS and WCFL and yell to each other when a 'great' song came on. Turn on WLS I'd say (as they would be playing Rock and Roll All Night by Kiss)... 5 minutes later she'd yell, put on WCFL (they had Saturday Night playing by the Bay City Rollers). lolol Great memories. The 70's were awesome... and as great as this song was/is, Sweet's B-sides were just incredible as well; much heavier than the pop tunes we heard on the radio. Most definitely an under-rated band and absolutely should be in the R&R HOF, at least while one surviving member of the band is still alive.

When you wrote You were from Chicago I knew it was WLS. I'm from northern Wisconsin and I remember listening to WLS at night Amazing how far that channel would go

So middle of the night, wake up to pee, this song is in my head playing full tilt... no trigger, no retro vibes, nothing. Conclusion: Sometime back in the mid 70's, little me was super into this, and most other pop/rock of the era. My young plastic and sponge-like grey matter absorbed everything I saw and heard. Only to sit in there, and pop out some 40 plus years later in the middle of the night. Now I am hooked all over again... awesome.

I was 4 years old when this song came out. My sisters were 12 and 15 PRIME music lovers. They were my built in baby sitters which meant a lot of time listening to albums in the basement in 1975. This was my first exposure on to music and 70s music is still I passion. I even learned how to play the keyboard. GREAT song.
