@@jlove7723 Thanks. Wow, do you see what we just did there? We put ourselves in each others shoes, sort a speak, and we understood how the other person felt. Amazing, I still say our generation is the best. With all this stress in the world lately I think you & I did good, we didn't blow up at each other. And we're complete strangers so what would have it mattered if we blew up? But it did matter, to both of us. I heard you and you heard me. We listened and we felt heard. Seems to me some people in DC could take some lessons. But let's not get into that because Jamel's is only for entertainment and I like that because we all need to get away from the craziness. Take care and bless you. 😊

I though so too in the 1980s. But in retrospect, the 1980s were almost better and just as varied in most genres, i.e. not only pop/rock. (Sure, you had to avoid some cheesy and vulgar teenage crap, but that was pretty easy, at least for me, not listening much to radio, tv, mtv and similar at the time.)

@@maxbrazil3712 Yes, "hiphop" shocked me brutally with its empty vulgarity in the mid 1980s, and the first half was indeed best regarding pop. As a more jazz oriented listener, I had no relation to groups like Nirvana or Guns & Roses. Still not certain how they sound. "My kind" of pop was things like The Police, Steely Dan and Sparks, but also Abba and Sweet, plus "unknown" Swedish groups (perhaps some Ultravox, Supertramp, Mike Oldfield, etc.) However, jazz-fusion, blues-funk and world music developed also in the mid-late 1980s and early 90s, although I didn't really realize it fully until later (was a bit too fixated by my favorite acts, like Weather Report and similar).

Jamal, "The Sweet" were an English rock group from London & their original lead singer was Brian Connelly whose voice you've just heard on this track. I particularly like the intelligence of the lyrics - love is like oxygen - justifiably comparing love to oxygen, which has a narrow therapeutic range and a very narrow therapeutic to toxic margin. That is why love is like oxygen - you get too much, you get too high & not enough of it when you die. There is a live video of this masterpiece. Do check it out - you'll enjoy it. Brian Connelly's voice & stage presence were mesmerizing. All the other members of the band were equally special. "The Sweet" is a dismally underrated band. All their songs were superlative & deserve to be remembered & treasured.

The musical solo is something phenomenal: a song within a song... almost a medieval ballad, which was well suited to Brian's atypical, ancient, totally non-modern beauty, a sort of medieval knight out of a poem of courtly love...Blond, ethereal, but a unique stage presence, all you needed was his arms resting on his hips or in his pocket and you knew it was Brian! The other three musicians in the band, equally fantastic, each of them an added value❤

Thumbs up for the 8-Track reference phantomrocker! Ain’t no School like the Old School! Even if, in retrospect, those damn 8-Tracks could be infuriating...switching tracks in the middle of a song, tape hiss & the inevitable having-to-jam-a-matchbook-under-the-tape-to-keep-it-from-double-tracking...but in the day, it was key to RockingOut while cruising. Thanks for the memories, my man!

@Joe Schmo A Pioneer with fast forward? That was the holy grail my man! I can’t remember the brand of mine.. but it had a feature they called four-way matrix.I was able to score some a pair of Pioneer TS-5 speakers that I sat on the back deck of my 62 Ford Fairlane 500 sports coupe And a pair of Jensen Co-Axis in the door panels. (I wanted TrixAxis, but every time I saved up $10 or more, I’d go out and score a lid!) I kept blowing fuses for a while until I learned the difference between four ohm & eight ohm and how to connect that stuff! At some point I got myself a GE cb radio. My handle was Windowpane (as in 4-way hit of). I thought I was so clever and subversive back to then! Thanks for adding to the memories for me today! Stay awesome brother!

I don't know if anyone has ever mentioned that most of these songs from back in the day we're better listen to with four speakers The music is meant to chase each of the speakers so that you get an entire surroundsound it's pretty trippy I know you probably have a pretty good pair of headphones but you're not going to get the same effect as those in the middle 4 speakers I would just love for you to experience it the way I did when I was a Child my parents had most of this music you're listening to now from the 70s and older on vinyl and I hate to say it but the sound quality was better on a record thank you so much for listening to this music and I love your reactions
