Sweet Potato Casserole: with Pecan Praline Topping-Steph’s Stove

Sweet Potato Casserole
3 cups mashed sweet potatoes
1 cup sugar
1 ½ cup milk
1 stick butter (softened)
2 eggs
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Preheat the oven to 350°. Mix all ingredients together using a mixer over medium speed until all ingredients are well combined. Pour into a 9x13 baking dish and bake for 34-40 minutes or until the center is set.
Topping
1 cup brown sugar
⅓ cup flour
1 cups chopped pecans
⅓ cup butter melted
Mix all topping ingredients until well combined. Drop spoonfuls of topping onto the casserole and spread gently to cover the entire top of the casserole. Return to the oven and bake for 10 additional minutes. Remove from the oven and allow to cool before serving. Refrigerate any unused portions. Enjoy!

It’s sooooo good! Anytime I take this casserole to a potluck, I come home with a empty dish. If I don’t have brown sugar can I use white sugar for the topping???

You can’t add just white sugar. If you don’t have brown sugar, you will have to substitute 1 cup white sugar + 1 tablespoon molasses. This is essentially what light brown sugar is made of white sugar and molasses. If you don’t have molasses, you can add 1 tablespoon maple syrup to create brown sugar. Hope this helps!
