I don't think that chickens are called birds, because CHICKEN are animals that are not able to fly at a higher height like the sky they don't lay eggs on high places but on the ground while BIRDS are animals who are able to fly on a higher height depends on if they reach their limit on how high they can get they lay eggs on high places like trees and poles some birds also lay eggs on the ground but not always, oh and they don't act like dogs.

One day when I was at a NY tollway rest stop between Rochester and Syracuse I was eating a sandwich I’d packed myself for lunch sitting at an outdoor picnic table. I had a little male English sparrow land beside me, so I pinched a piece of bread off the edge a gave it to him, and to my surprise he took it over to a female a gave it to her. I repeated the process and he didn’t disappoint, he took each piece and gave it to a different female, several in all until he finally ate himself. What a good provider he was to his little haram. It pains me greatly to see the complete lack of civility that has rocked this country. We can all learn greatly from the actions of that little sparrow.

I have chickens too. My alpharooster is the sweetest guy and when he notice one of his hens didn't get any treat from me, he takes one and gives it to her, so she can eat it. Roosters are real gentlemens and thats why I love them!

This is a side of roosters a lot of people don't see. I regularly see the roosters doing this kind of thing for hens. They will even call the hens if they find a significant bit of food. Like if you throw the scratch just to a rooster a lot of times he'll just pick at it and then call everybody else to come and eat. The roosters also look out for predators and herd the hens into the coop at night in our free range "tribe." Oh and of course they fertilize the eggs which helps the hens know when to go brood. Roosters make it possible to have natural broods and gives you the opportunity to develop trained experienced mother hens who are frankly famous for legendary deeds over thousands of years of farm service. The instinctually driven experienced mother hen is about the most useful and intelligent critter on a farm but she could never do her thing or grow into what she needs to become without the rooster.

Aww, he's tidbitting them! I've read that roosters offer food to their hens like that. The only rooster I've known was my neighbor's, and I never once saw that greedy bird tidbit his girls. What a bum!

@Ebola "Chads". You mean that a guy with a backbone, personality, level of competence in something worthwhile and keeps himself groomed is more attractive than a basement dwelling, greasy, neckbearded wet waif? I'm shocked.

Oh - so cute. My rooster, a RIR, is the very same way with his ladies. He's so funny. Sometimes I'll put my hand full of treats up to his beak, and he'll walk away looking so soldier like as if saying "Nope, I'm on duty". Yep, he is very protective of his hens.
