Being a musician, I always found it amazing how the synthesizer arpeggios in "Fox's" riff made the song both engaging and took listeners on a musical journey--of course, one can't ignore Sweet's use of vocal arpeggios. I've also heard the version without the synthesizers. It was interesting to hear how the song developed and more importantly, how Sweet's abilities as a band developed. "Fox on the Run" is a great example of Sweet's songwriting, instrumentalist and vocal abilities--musically they were the total package. Thanks for this interview!

Read Steve’s autobiography “Are you ready Steve?” and was disappointed. I’d love to read Andy’s perspective. He seems more articulate on such things. By comparison, I’ve read several Bowie memoirs including Woody Woodmansey, Mick Ronson, Angie Bowie and Tony Visconti’s.

THE SWEET one of the best 1970's bands ever. Never be another one like them. All the guys were great and talented in their own way. They each brought something unique to the band. And you rarely hear a band that their voices harmonized so perfectly like the guys of The Sweet. I'll always listen to their music till the day I die. ❤👍👩‍🦳

It´s sad that Sweet never became as huge as Queen. Both bands have phenomenal sound and quite frankly almost same image. Sweet had that harmony vocals, so did Queen. Unfortunately Brian´s problems caused big problems to Sweet and they never recovered when Brian left the band. Sweet really deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Thanx to Andy Scott who still keep rockin and rollin.

I'm glad Andy Scott mentioned the synthesizers on "Fox on the Run." I've always loved the keyboards on that song- it's one of the earliest synth heavy songs that I was drawn to, without even realizing why! Also- I wonder if Greg Hawkes was inspired by the type of synth layering on "Fox on the Run-" it seems so similar to his playing style.

Wonderful to hear from Andy scott and the making of one of my favourite sweet songs fox on the run which I believe he co-wrote ?....anyway I know that he did co-write one of my other big favourite song of there's "love is like oxygen " funny enough which came out when I left school in 78........my only regret was that I never got to see them play live especially now that sadly the other 3 members are not with us now.......will always remember them as one of the very best bands from the 70s , and certainly right up there with the other glam rock artist around like slade , T'rex and alot of other very good artist around at that time........anyway keep on rockin Andy scott !...and god bless you mate , and to everybody else out there in this difficult time and please remember people to try and b kind to each other as good karma is so important xxx😇🥰😎❤❤❤

Interesting comparison between Deep Purple and The Sweet... I too listened to them both. I would not pick a winner between Machine Head and Desolation Blvd, but in the end I take The Sweet because they’re songs are more melodious and because of their showmanship.

One of THE most under-rated bands ever!! Fox On The Run is considered pop but it's actually pretty heavy, as are so many of their B-side jams (the latter, sadly and inexplicably, never getting airplay in America. These guys should have been HUGE in the US!

So much trouble caused by letting formerly poor people - like the British musicians who were born around the time of WW2 and who came of age when the Rock took over the pop music scene. The Beatles and the Rolling Stones all were surprised to make a career making music. Many of the current crop of young pop stars are not so much musicians as people who wanna be stars so that they can be rich big shots - a different career, to be sure.

Rock History Music. Andy Scott is being less than honest when he described what Mike Chapman's views were about "Fox on the Run". Mike Chapman did not like the Sweet re-recording and publishing "Fox on the Run" without first informing Mike Chapman that they were going to do this; he took it like a stab in the back and wanting nothing more to do with Sweet...
