I second the request for "Ain't Going Down (til the Sun Comes Up)"! They blow it out of the water. Adam slays it throughout, but there's one sound at the end of a harmonica solo that'll have you screaming!! Sounds like an electric guitar! 😳 🤯 It's only on Facebook now ... something about licensing issues. Probably because it's a Garth song. *sighs* It's still worth any trouble you've got to go through to hear it/react to it!! It's flat out AMAZING!

I'm 67 years old, and for me the gold standard for this song was Bobby Hatfield on the Andy Williams Show, 1965, 3 minutes of perfection, live, no auto-tune. This is at least that good. I didn't think anyone could do this song better than Bobby did, but Home Free put the right spin on it since it was originally for a (bad) prison movie (Unchained) in the 50's. This has a super authentic feel, and the guys just nailed the song!

The Righteous Brothers had a big hit with "Unchained Melody" in 1965. Home Free did such a beautiful rendition of this classic song. They gave it an old doo-wop feel. The video in prison is very fitting as this song was originally written for the 1955 prison film "Unchained". The film centered on a man who contemplates either escaping from prison to live life on the run or finishing his sentence and returning to his wife & family. The song focuses on someone who pines for a lover he has not seen in a "long, lonely time".

Love that they took this back to 1955 when it was written and did it DooWop style. I think you're the first reactor to notice the harmonies when Austin starts singing, it sounds like a peal of bells, to me anyway, and I saw that you'd heard it! Great reaction, I always enjoy yours as you're so knowledgeable - glad you've got some time to do some more.

I so enjoy how detailed your reactions are in noticing and pointing out the details of their songs as you break it down. I'm never disappointed by the subtleties you notice and mention that make me want to rewatch Home Free's videos and marvel at how I completely missed them the first time around! On that note have you seen Austin Brown the top tenor for Home Free and his version of Unchained Melody that he did with Steve Martinez on the guitar? If not, check it out, it doesn't disappoint!

If you haven't yet you should check out Austin's solo version of this same song, recorded in his home, just him and Steven Martinez on guitar, sitting in comfy chairs in front of the fireplace. It's titled Unchained Melody sung like you've NEVER heard it! I'm still tickled that the two videos were dropped exactly 13 months apart.

This is my favorite rendition of this song. It's absolutely beautiful. The gritty prison video keeps with the original theme for which the song was written. Love your reactions. I learn so much. I had to come back and add something. The videographer for this is genius. We Home Fries are very spoiled and get a lot of visuals of the members of Home Free in their videos. When I first watched this, I kept thinking there isn't much Adam in this and he's got his back to the camera so much, then: there isn't much Rob or Chance in this. And really just Austin and Tim but just short glimpses. Then it dawned on me. Having them visually restricted by short exposure to the camera and obscured by the bars adds to that feeling of being kept from us and being restricted and "out of reach in jail". Brilliant! Or am I just reading more into it than what it is?

I don't know how all of that licensing stuff works, but I watched "Ain't Goin' Down ('Til the Sun Comes Up)" on Patreon. Three other reactors have it posted on their KZbin channels with the video, not just the soundtrack. It's outstanding, but I don't think you'll get the full effect without the video. Another is one of Tim's solos from his Doo Wop album "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow/Stay". Love your reactions.

Glad to see you back and that things in the "real world" are getting back to normal. Whatever that is. Lol! When people take on these massively iconic songs, I usually cringe because so many musicians and vocalists have covered them and have fallen way short. But Home Free never worries me! They have a way of taking the original and paying homage to it. All the while putting their own flavor on it! Home Free released their version of Garth Brooks song Ain't Goin Down Til the Sun Comes Up! It's done to perfection and it actually spends time showcasing Adam's beatboxing skills front and center. It's on their Facebook page due to some licensing issues I guess. But reactors haven't mentioned having any problems reacting from that video here on KZbin! It's insanely good! Thank you for the great reaction! ❤

First I am so happy that you are picking up gigs now that the rona easing up. For someone who obviously loves music as much as you, yes listening is good, but to be able to create it for others has got to be the ultimate hifeel lighter for the resolution. Love your reactions, but if you get the chance to balance reactions and the performance I will cheer you on. Doing what you love makes everything else you do that much better. Home Free is a sensory feast. You don't just hear there music, you feel it to the bone. They inhabit the lyric and take you on a journey where the harmonies lead the way to a destination that is so satisfying that it makes you smile for having bought a ticket for the trip.

You should definitely check out Austin's solo version of this song - just him and a buddy on an acoustic guitar - it came out about a year ago. You'll definitely be able to hear both the similarities and the differences between his performances. Also, check out their latest, a cover of Garth Brooks' "Ain't Going Down 'Till the Sun Comes Up". It's ridiculous. Adam Rupp's 'no-monica' is crazy, and the vocals are superb. The fast paced lyrics and long slides are cool to listen to when a singer does it (i.e. Garth), but hearing 2 guys do it together in perfect harmony is on another level.
@babyfry47752 жыл бұрын
Jarvis, I just love your reactions and analysis. Home Free killed it. They went back to the roots of the song. It was written for a prison movie called Unchained in 1955. Such a good video as you said and those voices are just so good. Loved the black and white film and the typewriter. (Yeah, I know typewriters too - hahaha). Loved Tim starting the song (that was different to hear his lower voice) and then handing off to Austin. Such a good rendition. 😀🥰

A wonderfully sung and performed cover of Home Free. With their own twist to it, but still keeping the respect for the original. The leads, the harmonies, the Doo-wop, the bass, everything just so good. Also wonderful how they bring back the real story. Beautifully portrayed in black and white and the shadow on the wall of the inhuman Adam

I know there’s probably copyright issues that would prevent this, but I would love to see (or hear, rather) a song like this broken up into its different parts. I don’t have a very good ear for music & I really struggle to hear the harmonies apart from the melody line. After I read a comment below referring to the sound of bells when Austin starts singing, I went back & had to really concentrate to hear them, but they were there. I never would have picked up on that detail w/out that comment. Oh well. 🤷♀️😄 I will just have to enjoy the music as a whole.
