Mozart's Requiem is probably my favorite piece of music. I recommend listening with headphones on and eyes closed.

One day we'll try the rock and roll of classical music and listen to Vivaldi's "Four Seasons".

if Vivaldi is the rock n roll of classical, I would say that Mozart is in the prog genre of classical.

I, too, like classical music. I believe you have chosen aright to start with pieces that are familiar even though we don't know why they are sometimes. The Christmas season is nearing. I have quasi ritual at this season. I make it a point to listen at least once to "The Nutcracker." That's about the only thing I've done with any sort of regularity. I'm enjoying your dive into some of the classics. Peace.🤘😎❤

Let me also recommend the opera singer Cecilia Bartoli. She has the voice that comes once in 10 generations. She controls her voice like no one ever has.

Classical and Jazz are mathematical equations expressed in music. Listening will stimulate your brain and the early in life you listen the more elastic your brain will become. Elastic brains are able to store and analyze more information. As a person ages their brain losses elasticity.

I’m not into classical a great deal but when I hear it my imagination peaks. I imagine the ladies and gentlemen waltzing to this in a ballroom in a big fancy country estate. A really beautiful piece, thanks for sharing something different 😊

That's Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of the most prolific musicians to ever walk the planet. This is one of his most familiar and often played pieces, which translates to "A Little Night Music", but you probably knew that already. For a fairly reasonable look at his life I would suggest the movie "Amadeus". Pretty long, but worth your time, I think you would enjoy it. It stars F. Murray Abraham, Thomas Hulce and Jeffrey Jones.

I am by no means a expert on Classical music but do have a few composers who can identify when I hear some of their pieces i.e., Edvard Grieg and Antonio Vivaldi.

This "night music" was almost certainly written for an evening social event (i. e. a party), so it was not intended to be a lullaby. There is so much classical music to explore, it's hard to say where to go next. I might suggest listening to Leontyne Price singing "O Patria Mia" (Oh My Homeland) from the opera Aida by Giuseppe Verdi. Aida was her signature role, and this aria (song) was her signature aria. I would suggest watching the video of her last performance of the aria within the opera (March 1, 1985). It's on KZbin.

My favorite classic piece is Grieg's "The Death of Åse." It is the epitome of sadness and regret. I haven't listened to it in a while because I always cry a bit. For some reason I like sad music and "The Death of Åse," is the saddest song ever written. Edvard Grieg and Henrik Ibsen were Norwegian cotemporaries. When I was in the US Army stationed in Germany, I traveled Europe and visited each of their homes. Orchestras like to play "The Death of Åse." Duke Ellington did a cover of "The Death of Åse."
