suddenly I'm nostalgic for my grandparents and the many summer afternoons where we felt like cooks bc we got to pour hot water over those ready-made cubes of jelly with plasticky flavours... tonight we'll have a dessert, with condensed milk poured over! I don't think we ever put fruit IN the jello though, it was always a garnish on the side. thanks for the memories!

My grandma made jello with fruits in and cream from a spray can. …Now I’m nostalgic too haha

@@michaelaschmid as a kid I always wondered what would happen if we used hot (condensed) milk instead of water to make the jello... but my gran wasn't into witchcraft & potion making hahaha And by the time I was old enough to get my own milk & jello, I no longer had an appetite for that kind of (potentially inedible) experiment. I should recruit my brother's kids!

@@meinhartfrancois actually… that could work. Sounds kind of like panna cotta. If you try it, tell me how it turned out because I’m curious now :)

@@michaelaschmid I still owe you a slideshow of the lazy-boy quilts I own/made, but I'll see if I can convince my brother's kids hahaha

What is the difference between infusion and making tea? Genuine question, lol. Also if i want make an infusion from other plants would this process be the same?
@michaelaschmid2 жыл бұрын
Technically-as far as I know- teas are weaker than infusions, so infusion uses more time and plant matter and is more intense because of it. (But the process generally is the same plant+hot water+time) and yes, if you wanted to use another plant the process would be the same. I imagine it’d be really good with camomile or mint :)
@dancingqueen41852 жыл бұрын
@@michaelaschmid Yess, I was thinking of using mint, my garden is overrun with it lol. My family also has this tea blend called zhourat, it has all kinds of flowers in it and tastes amazing, I would love to try to make it into an infusion and turn that into syrup or even jello
@michaelaschmid2 жыл бұрын
@@dancingqueen4185 That sounds so good! I’ve make black tea jelly before and it worked really well. Just remember to add some lemon when making jello or syrup, otherwise it won’t set. :)

@@michaelaschmid The urban legend in my family is tea = from roasted, dried material, while infusion = anything goes, from fresh to dried... That's strictly a family definition, in which we merrily butcher any tradition we meet, be it tisane (from France) or infusion (from the UK) or kruidenthee (from our own country, Belgium). So it's fun to learn a little more officially!
@michaelaschmid2 жыл бұрын
@@meinhartfrancois another definition I read was that tea is an infusion made from leaves from the tea plant. So it’s all infusions, tea is just a specific one. It’s a bit confusing, might as well pick the definition that you like best :)
