These live performances at Musikladen really show how great of a drummer Mick is, very underrated for his advanced and unique skills. They were pioneers, looking through each year of their music it was always changing, going from pop to hard rock, and they kept the fun glam rock look throughout all of it too. RIP

@artysanmobile
@artysanmobile 16 күн бұрын
@@pauleuro123 I don’t feel that was the case. Their music was very much of their time. What was special to me was the sophistication of their arrangements, in the context of the super slick pop world they inhabited for so long. I see their change to even more traditional, ultra simple rock as an escape from what was likely a contractual obligation and, ironically, I don’t think it worked. The poppy stuff was really special because of the sophistication they brought to it. If anyone can really be compared to them IN their time, it would be David Bowie or T. Rex, and those are high, high praise from me.

Sweet (at this time) were so much more than just Metal. They transcended Metal, Glam, and even proto-Punk while simultaneously being all of those things. They influenced so much that came later. I wouldn’t say they were better than Sabbath, as they played a totally different style than Sabbath. Apples and oranges. They definitely blew almost everything else that was going on in 1974 away though.

JB and Neil Peart cannot be compared to anyone. They are above reality. Everyone else are just men. The Sweet were as tight as they come. All you need do is look at Queen's success and attribute all of it to these guys. They took original complex music, copied it and rose to the top. While guys toiled in mediocrity in the US. Sad story.
