It's a sad fact that Tarja left when she had better opportunities, but I wish her well - for the most part. I do not begrudge the loss of Lita Ford when she found a rich investor to marry either, but their musical talents are absent. Respect to the remaining members who soldier on.

2020, anyone? I also, like many more who commented here feel sad, nostalgic and at the same time strangely invigorated by this video. Nightwish was the band of my early student years, and I used to listen to my tape cassettes till they were scratched to holes... Still listen to their early albums, somehow don't like the post-Tarja ones. Though Floor is very good and the band remains very powerful, something is gone, never to come back again. Maybe that is the mark of all true masterpieces and all true magic: to shine brightly and then die away, leaving a sad yearning, like an imprint etched in the heart.

Yes, you are not alone. I am also feel sad while listening old Nightwish with Tarja. Floor is very good, of course, but with Tarja Nightwish had some magic atmosphere.

@Tony Montana your unwarranted insulting comments aside, while i do not agree with the original comment, as i understand it, suggesting that only with Tarja did NW experience their greatness, one can easily see how much promise there was in those day with the technical skill of the band not to mention Tarja's incredible voice at such a tender age...i assume by the term "tholics" you are referring to Tarja obsessive fans, of which i am one but i also was quite a big fan of Floor, and while i still find her rather engaging, and i am merely stating my opinion based on my perception of her current approach in comparison to her former highly energetic delivery, that she underwhelms me...surely you do not begrudge me a right to express my take on the matter...looking to explore the new album though...best regards

Even if Tuomas always denies it, the old things of Tarja were written for her bombastic voice. These songs can only be sung by a classically trained voice because only then it will sound perfect. My ears are spoiled and for this reason I prefer to watch the old performances of the old stuff than newer ones. Such classics from Tarja want to hear and see only with Tarja. These songs were made for her voice. You can hear it. The contrast with her bombastic voice and the bombastic sound has never been so lived out within Nightwish as with Tarja.

I think just the same even though Anette and Floor learned to do most of them well. But for instance "Getshemane" and "Carpenter" ... the present versions are lame in comparison to the originals.

It's amazing how low the views are here for this timeless track in comparison to their newer songs. I find it sad that in a month's time a mediocre song like Elan has over 2 million views but this only has a little over 300,000. This was when NW was at their peak both creatively and musically, and their youthful energy here is breathtaking. Don't get me wrong I like Floor and NW to this day, but this was their golden age and the phenomenon that was this era will never happen again.

joema15 ..you are so very right.. and sad but true.. mostly when folks come accros a band, they listen to the present and coming albums, maybe 1 back, but many times the "old"ones turn out to be the best ones, but "the hardly listened to oenes". I had that with Iron Maiden.. my fisrst introduction was Two Minutes to Midnight, .. and I mainly listened after that.. but my fav. Maiden album is Killers one "oldie" and I like with Nightwish the Tarja-up-tempo-songs the most. , her opera voice coming out : Mainly the Older stuff :D

joema15 It is probably because the older stuff is less known. The Tarja tracks are by far superior. Her voice is by far superior. That is not to say the other to ladies were not good vocalists, they are just not on a level of Tarja. Listen to the other to ladies live, then listen to Tarja live.....night and day....Tarja is dead on all the time.

+joema15 Agreed. The Tarja era was their best, especially the first three albums. I'm not saying I don't like Century Child and Once, but the sound they had on Angels Fall First, Oceanborn and Wishmaster are my favorites. I love the energy and emotion that Floor puts into the old Tarja songs live but for some reason on EFMB they failed to capture that same energy.

heavyt0ne, If you liked End of an Era, you will love the "From wishes to Eternity" Dvd for sure! It has got old nightwish songs on it like Elvenpath (from their first album) And plus, it has got those songs played live in their original keys (like Sacrament of Wilderness or Come Cover me which now are always played in Lower keys) I have all Nightwish Dvds and albuns, and From wishes to Eternity is just Epic and shows some of their hardest songs to play and sing. Was in Germany Oct- Dec with a friend, of 99 could not convince him to go see the Oceanborn tour. Next time I was in the same city as Nightwish was 2007, in NY, they had just replaced Tarja with Anette. If this ever happens to you, just ditch your friend and what he wants to do and go anyway
