However, one of the most interesting or eccentric of those things to ever come out of the MLP fandom is a certain pony meme called Sweetie Bot, which has inspired many pieces of MLP fan content. Fun fact - Sweetie Bot actually appeared in the official MLP comics! The CMC are teleported through different worlds by Discord (even ending up in a pony Lord of the Rings), and at one point are in a DC parody. They hang captured over a vat of acid, with Apple Bloom looking like a Batman/Robin parody and Scootaloo like Hawkman. Sweetie Belle is just straight up a robot version of herself.

Fans have been arguing for years about how canon IDW is, if at all. My personal take is that you can treat the comics as canon to an extent, but that any time the comics and the show contradict each other the show takes precedence.

I remember an urban legend about how Sweetiebot came to be from an episode where Sweetie's voice actor was sick and couldn't voice, so they decided to use a robotic voice to cover for her which incited a TON of backlash.

Sweetie bell tends to be the odd one of the group in abridged series: In frienship is wichcraft she's sweetiebot, In mentally advanced series she's Thrakerzod, And in ultra fast pony she has an exagerated batman/metal head kind of gravly voice

From what I remember, Sweetie Bot's origin was much the same as MAS's Thrackerzod, in that Sweetie Belle seemed quite plain and soulless early on.

I was really shocked when I saw the art at 2:09 by SymbianL, we used to be friends back in the day on G+ and seeing their art of sweetie bot was my first introduction to the meme and friendship is witchcraft as a whole. Hey! I'm humbled that you gave me a shout-out in your vid! I'm so glad people still like my old Sweetie Bot animations. It's a heart-warming feeling to know that people still appreciate what I've made even to this day. I've been... sorta just dead for a long while, but there is a flame rekindling in my heart for animation. Since 2014, I had been sitting on a partially complete re-animation of Sweetie's Big Race, but I never finished it due to Flash constantly crashing. I think if I redid things in ToonBoom I'd have far less frustrations... who knows? I might be able to share some more Sweetie Bot content one of these days. Again, I feel honored to be remembered. one little bit about Sweetie Bot was that she kind of originated from the show itself. in some of sweetie belle's early apperences her voice would crack cutely on occasion due to her VA, Claire Corlett, going through puberty, which they often left in. this lead to jokes about her being a robot. Sherclop pones took it to the next level tho. I actually got the chance to see the real Sweetie Bot Robot in person at the final bronycon, and she was quite adorable.

When i was little (like, very little, i didnt know english very well yet) i was convinced the joke originated from the voice actress for Sweetie Belle being sick for the recording of one of the earlier episodes so they replaced her with a robotic voice, i have no clue if i just assumed that or if i got it from somewhere

8:06 based on the title, that specific song seems to be inspired by another mlp fan animation series called pony.mov, where in one of the episodes Twilight tries to find ways to revive Rainbow Dash (who seemed to be dead at the time) so she could use the elements of harmony, and one of the things she does is try to created a rainbow dash robot thats "physically superior in every way" but instead she leaves, repeating "Crush. Kill. Destroy. Swag" and goes off to help destroy ponyville
