In the UK this was the Vauxhall Sintra. We sure as hell did not get the electric doors over here. It did not sell well: launched in 1997 and discontinued only a year later, it was five years too soon for the 'large people carrier' market that would explode in the early 2000's. It was replaced by a Vauxhall equivalent of the Opel Zafira: a much worse car in every way, except its size suited our roads better. We bought the range-topping Sintra 3.0 200BHP V6 when it was seven years old. It went rather well but drank a lot of fuel.

Jon Vincent and, if I’m not mistaken, it was offered with a manual, although I can’t hear anything about a manual swapped venture :(

We have a 2000 montana. Its has a comfortable smooth suspension and driver seat comfort. I am mechanical so I do my own repairs. Its has hard to reach tune up issues but O like it enough to keep it on the road nearly 24 years old!

My parents brought a 2000 Venture back in 2002. The thing had non-stop issues with the 3800 V6. The thing had a head gasket in 2004 and we put $2000 worth of work fixing it up, back in 2007 the transmission started to go so we sold the van in 2008 to a junkyard, we then bought a 2008 Chevy Uplander and the thing hasn’t had serious issues until now, we sold it to our aunt and that’s when the transmission wanted to go. I don’t want the van to be sold at a junkyard and I am looking for someone to fix it, my aunt would pay.

The best thing you can do is go to a dealership and ask them for references to good transmission shops, usually the service dept. can point you in the right direction. Good luck to you. mad Mike the hammer SPC

I have to say on this one Mike I used buy cars at the auction, and this one is notorious for transmission failure, head gasket failure and electrical problems, not to say that some might get a few that if they kept the vehicle and repaired problems that arise they could get lucky but I would keep my money in my pocket on this.

Do you guys by any chance know where the AUX port is in the car?
@SweetProjectCars2 жыл бұрын
If you are looking for a port to plug into to charge a phone or something, it's usually located in the ashtray underneath the climate control switches. Hope this helps, thanks for watching Arthur. mad Mike the hammer SPC

I have a 2005 Chevy Venture LS. There's a 12 volt port under the cupholder and a additional port in the very back of the van on the driver's side wall behind a removable panel. After blowing a few fuses I installed a new heavy duty port through the firewall and mounted it under the passengers glove box to power a amber light bar or inverter. The factory wiring was just too light to handle large draws.

Sorry to say it, but these are terrible vans, for the safety. I know that in 1996, when these vans came out, that offset crash safety on most vehicles wasn't the best in the world, but this was on another level. IIHS did a round of minivan crash testing in fall 1996, a 40 mph, 40% offset head on crash. The Ford Windstar was the only good performer. The Chrysler minivans, Mazda MPV, and Honda Odyssey all got a marginal rating due to a likelihood of broken legs and too much structural collapse. The Toyota Previa and Ford Aerostar did even worse and got a poor rating. But, in all of those vans you would have still almost certainly survived. Not to mention, the MPV, Previa and Aerostar were old designs, dating back to 1988-1991. The GM minivans were a brand-new design for the 1997 model year, having just came out months earlier, and were the only van where fatal injury would have been a significant possibility. The footwell collapsed so much that it hit the driver seat - crushing the leg so much to the point that the foot snapped off. A severe, possibly fatal, neck injury would have also been likely. What upsets me so much about this van's design isn't the appalling safety standards even by the standards of 1996 - it's that GM made no improvement to the vans for nine years of production. Ford canned the Aerostar after 1997 as the Windstar replaced it entirely. The Toyota Previa was replaced by the Sienna for the 1998 model year - the Sienna was labeled the "best performer ever" by the IIHS at that time. The Odyssey followed suit the next year, getting a Good rating for its '99 redesign. By late 2001, every other minivan on the market earned at least an Acceptable rating in this test, with several earning Good ratings. GM continued to sell this body style of minivan for four more years with no safety updates. That's just pathetic. I don't hate vehicles for being unsafe - as long as their level of safety is at least normal for the time. Of course a '57 Chevy's going to be unsafe by today's standards - but it was fine for the standards of 1957. But a 1997-2005 GM minivan was made at a time when at least survivable performance in an offset crash at 40 mph was the norm and good crash test results were an important consideration for vehicle buyers. To be fair, I doubt you would survive a crash of that severity of crash in a Previa either. The steering wheel smashed straight into the dummy's face, giving him an airbag sandwich. Scary stuff, offset crashing is.
@whattheheck10003 жыл бұрын
@@hakeemsd70m The head/neck rating for the Previa was Marginal, indicating a possibility of serious head and/or neck injury, but not a fatality. You’d live in the Previa, although you’d probably be hurt pretty badly. April 2, 2021 5:42 pm
