Phil is amazing....after all these years, still the most passionate Subject Matter Expert and Ambassador for Yamaha Synths. Thanks Phil for giving so much. Gratefully.

This and the Korg Kronos presentation was the best I've ever seen. Very straight forward and in-dept explanation and demonstration of the instruments' sounds and functions. You're not left to your own devices. That's how you sell your product!

Phil is the man. He is a great musician, playing a great musical instrument.

The big improvement in the XF (over the XS) is the flash memory. On the XS, you had to save your setups on a USB stick and load them every time you powered up. With the XF, that annoyance goes away. Both the XS and XF have fantastic voice libraries. DAW integration is great, particularly with Cubase. It can render up to 16 audio tracks at once through Firewire, so I don't have to "freeze" tracks while I'm still working on the composition.

Phil (Bad Mister) is a great guy, he is very knowledgeable in the yamaha motiif keys. He is vert instrumental in the productionl ine of this product, his idea in the video is relate to the audience and the world that MOTIF Keyz is basically a portable studio with all the attachments...

This man is just terrific. He's not only a fine pianist, as he demonstrates clearly, but he's extremely lucid and descriptive, embellishing and explaining his points with the keyboard. I would rather he'd have made a very quick sampling over as many instruments as he could, and discussed them but nevertheless he's fascinating to listen to. I'd like to hear and watch a video of him going through the Motif's instruments to alter their sounds.

Instead of commenting about the audience, I would rather marvel at the content of Phil's presentation. He certainly knows his product line with the MOTIFs and plays musical figures (or "motifs") that show the instrument in its best light. I was actually happy to see and not hear anything from the audience, so that I could listen to Phil (just as they were doing).

The reason he's demo'n mostly acoustic sounds is because acoustic sounds is the motifs' strength..if you notice when you see a roland keyboard being demoed if you pay attention you'll see that they demo the piano,the electric piano and rolands main strength which is the brass sounds and synth sounds..eevery synth has it's strength and that what motif is demoing ..its strength which is acoustic sounds

I recently bought a Yamaha Motif Xs6 which is still a very powerful and versatile synthesizer even though it's more like Motif Es but I do also have Halion 7 and many other sample libraries to use in addiion to the on board sounds. I agree that Yamaha Motif is a perfect keyboard for songwriters ( better than an arranger keyboard like Tyros in my opinion ). Even though Motif doesn't have auto accompaniments you do have pattern mode which is a lot more sophisticated.

I love his presentation, and the reason that crowd is so dead is because the majority of them will never do "SH/T" in the music industry. This gentleman gives you a wealth of knowledge, but as the old adage suggests, "YOU CAN LEED A HORSE TO WATER,BUT YOU CAN'T MAKE HIM DRINK"!
@NoMoreVanilla13 жыл бұрын
The Motif XF is great for composition and studio work, but less so for performance, in my opinion. For one thing, changing voices immediately kills your sound, even if you are holding a chord with your left hand. The assignable function buttons are used for articulation, but they can't be assigned to footswitch controllers. You can't cycle through voices/parts with a footswitch, either. It's bothersome to have to take your hand off the keys for articulation.

What I've heard sounds gorgeous, but I really wish he would have spent more time on sounds other than acoustic piano, electric piano, and clavinet. Hopefully, a second video will highlight these in more detail, among other functions of the instrument, for those of us who have never owned a Motif and are intrigued.

I think he is confusing waveforms with sample partials.... the basic waveforms that analog synths have are present in all sounds... they are the building blocks of sounds... the 4,000 waveforms in the motif are sampled waves that make up the internal sounds.....

please stop saying rubbish man....dont compare a plastic japanese digital workstation with 3700 waves and simulated filters, with vintage analogue synthesizer with 4 analogue waves and analogue filters, it's really nonsense! modern or vintage analogue synthesizers like prophet6 or ob6 sounds huge and musical compared to that digital shit, motif xf is like a suv vehicle, analogue synthesizers are like F1 cars, both cars in strict terms but not comparable....like saying 'my vst amp simulator has 120 amps and cabinets....my valve marshall amp has only one.... so my vst is better?' nope...more things doesnt mean more quality....in this prospective a motif is better than arp2600 or minimoog xD that's silly.
