Which Orange 2x12 cabs were you playing in this video, open back or closed back?
@sweetwater Жыл бұрын
@@Bobby_Digital37 I was using the black Orange PPC212 2x12” cabinet which is closed back and loaded with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers. Don was using the same exact thing but with orange vinyl. Thanks! Nick

Just coming across this video and as a fellow lefty it’s just so odd that I’ve been looking specifically into the James Hetfield Snakebyte and an Orange amp recently. Specifically this very amp and the Orange Super Crush 100 lol. They sound amazing.

I love this sound! I'd love to add this to my Sweetwater wish list through your app, but it doesn't run on current Android OS. Gonna have to add to my Thomann wish list and see if your app is upgraded before I get the cash to buy one of these. I prefer Sweetwater, am a loyal customer normally, but I prefer app functionality over internet browser functionality.

These look great...I love Orange... but.... the price tag will probably scare off fans of the OR15 (yes, I know there are differences and UK vs China) but the OR15 is $750... on the flip side,... the OR30 is priced fairly close to the Rockerverb 50. So, if you like the OR15, it will coat you over $1k more for the OR30 and if you like the OR30, it will only cost you $350 more for the Rockerverb 50.
@IgnisIban Жыл бұрын
If price if your comparison point then you’re buying watts, this is a totally different amp compared to the rockerverb and the OR15, totally different preamp and this ine have tube rectifier and choke with totally different gain structure and stages, so Apples and oranges here, this being an Apple on the Orange history , very different to the other Orange amps
@Darth.Shredder Жыл бұрын
@@IgnisIban If it's "totally different" than the OR15 then why call it an OR30? All I'm saying is the Rockerverb offers much more - not just wattage but features (2 channels, spring reverb) and the OR15 is over $1K less than the OR30 which is still just a 1 channel head for $1800.
@alexwoolridge94aw Жыл бұрын
@darthshredder3778 I own a Rockerverb mkii 50 and am considering selling it to fund this new OR30. Single channel amps will always be the better choice in my book. Guitars have volume knobs for a reason. Nothing beats a simple good sounding amp that slays. I would also not put this OR30 in the same category as the OR15. Much different from the Rockerverb too.
@Darth.Shredder Жыл бұрын
@@alexwoolridge94aw I gigged with JCM800's in the 80's and 90's and know all about rolling off the volume knob. It was a necessity back then and by no means a "better choice" than a 2 channel amp. I personally would never downgrade from a Rockerverb to an OR30. You're not only giving up a second channel and some power, you're giving up spring reverb and the EL34 power section. EL84's are fine at lower volumes but they break up quicker and you're already limiting headroom with the lower wattage. I have a TH30 and a Mesa Mark V35 - both have a quartet of EL84's like the OR30. I like them both but neither would ever replace my Rockerverb or Marshalls and Engls.
@IgnisIban Жыл бұрын
@@Darth.Shredder you should ask first why orange called OR15 when the OR50 was first and is totally different amp of this 2, is just a model name, the OR15 have the 4 preamp gain stages of the rockerverb with EL84 closed loop fixed bias power section, the Orange OR30 is open loop cathode bias with 3 gain stages with cathode follower as Ade emsley the designer stated on the introductory video, totally different amps, don’t be fooled by the OR name, the very first orange amp OR120 is an radically different circuit for instance
