The drumming on that opening tune was FANTASTIC, Nick! What a great touch you have. Thanks for the awesome review of the product, too. Been using Toontrack products with e-drums since 2009. They are the absolute best

This was the best video of the product I've seen so far! I loved it you're playing is wonderful and you explain things so well even though I'm not a drummer I was totally immersed! One complaint, and that is I bought Superior Drummer 3 from the Sweetwater online shop and this product was not in the catalog! If it was I would've bought it then! As it is I will have to wait a couple pay cycles. Kind of a big miss if you're doing such a great video of a product and you don't have it for sale on your website! Oh well, if I would've bought it then I probably wouldn't have seen this great video that you made.

Once in a while I think about selling my acoustic drums and getting some electric and videos like this make me think about it even more. My wife has said it wudnt look as cool, but man, with all the possibilities...Shud I??
@fVNzO4 жыл бұрын
Don't do it. You'll seriously regret skimping on feel if you have the option to play acoustic. Buy yourself a warehouse of different drums for the same price instead.
@ChrisBakerDrummer4 жыл бұрын
If you want to record at home, absolutely you should grab a good electronic kit (Roland) and some of these Toontrack products. You'll never come close to getting these sounds by recording acoustic drums in your home. But if you're mainly wanting to gig live... I would probably just stick w/ acoustic drums
@brushman204 жыл бұрын
@@ChrisBakerDrummer Thanks Chris, appreciate the advice! Cheers!
@dugjay4 жыл бұрын
NO. Never lol. You'll regret selling the acoustics. I have the Roland TD-50KV and love them but there is that lack of feel that you get from playing an acoustic kit. They just can't mimic the feel no matter how they try!

Thanks for the video. I have a question, did you have to switch to the Keyboard on SD3 or are you able to have more than one MIDI device feeding into SD3 at the same time? I have been thinking of adding an Octapad to my TD-50 kit and I was wondering if it can trigger SD3 at the same time as my TD-50, for example to trigger the cowbell or the Gong...
@dankenton4 жыл бұрын
You can indeed have multiple devices triggering SD3 sounds however, you can only have 1 MIDI map active at once so you would most likely use the TD50 map for your kit then just manually setup your Octapad to trigger the specific notes in SD3 you wanted to use - cowbell, gong, etc. You'll manage the MIDI traffic in your DAW/recording software by setting the MIDI input to ALL DEVICES.

You can also plug a 5 pin midi cable out of the octapad into the TD-50 👍

Will a TD-17KVX deliver as much clarity and precision in the snare drum when triggering SDX? I'm seriously considering switching to e-drums to trigger SDX, just like in this video, but a TD-50 is out of my budget
@sweetwater4 жыл бұрын
Hi Ignacio, great question! The TD-17KVX's snare won't have the same level of precision, since it doesn't capture the same amount of performance data as the Digital Snare, but it should still work great for triggering samples in Superior Drummer. Great video - I hate the term “just like a REAL drum”. Electronic drums are an instrument upon themselves.
@tiktocdrummer4 жыл бұрын
Doesn’t the Roland brain provide most of those sounds to start with? Seems counter productive to spend thousands on a Roland electric kit and then add the toon tracks with it, seems like your bringing sand to the beach. The demo would be better using a entry level acoustic drum kit and just trigger them.
@youowemeapony3 жыл бұрын
There is a massive difference between the sounds in the TD50 and Superior Drummer. SD3 is using real audio samples and the expressiveness is huge. Roland sounds are cheap and cheesy in comparison
