I just got this today. This thing has mind blowing features. I mostly liked the touchscreen. It’s same as a smartphone touchscreen. No difference. The touchscreen is so sensitive. I also have Modx+ and Krome but I needed a stage keyboard as a main board. I really liked the piano sounds. The piano sounds carefully designed for classical music and stage music. As a keyboard player and pianist this is what I needed. Yeah acoustic pianos are really good but I didn’t like the rhodes sounds. Yamaha is better than Nord and Kurzweil for rhodes sounds. MY ADVICES - if you don’t care about the money, you should buy Nord stage or piano - if you wanna control everything easily buy sp7 grand - if you want original Rhodes sounds buy Yamaha CP88 then - if you want 4 band Eq (so important) buy sp7 grand - if you’re only playing piano sounds… it depends my friend :))

I own a MODX8 and looking for a stage piano that I could couple with my MODX8. I am not very pleased with the MODX's action. Why did you choose SP7 Grand? How are satisfied with keybed. I assume it is Fatar TP110, the same as in the Numa X Piano.

Just picked up an SP7 Grand. Does anyone know if it is possible to disable the sustain pedal on a particular zone? For example, I have the keys split for piano and strings on top and a bass in the low register. I don't want the sustain pedal on the bass but want it to work for the piano and strings. I tried figuring it out but it seems like it's not possible. Definitely not a keeper if it can't do this. Not for 2k!

Hi jeanmccullough1064, thanks for the question! There are no speakers built into this keyboard. It is designed as a stage keyboard and to be plugged into an external speaker system. I am also not finding any mention in any of the manuals that lead me to believe that it has an auto-chord type feature with the left hand. If you would like to look for a keyboard that does have these features, give me a ring, I would love to help! @josue85

The other big difference that I know of is that the Grand lets you layer 16 sounds, while the SP7 Stage is 8. I just picked one up, and the screen is phenomenal, but if you don't care about the extra layers, not worth and extra 400 to 600 bucks

I just wish Kurzweil would come out with a weighted Hammer Action 73 or 76 Key Keybed. I am still using my 15 year old PC1SE because it takes up less space. I bought the SP6-7 and it has the most awful semi weighted keybed I have ever played. Horible. Not a fatar TP80 for sure. I do like the new TP110 keybed and that is where Kurzweil should go wtih the shorter keybaords like the SP7-7 series.
