@DoubleD_935 жыл бұрын
It's a mixed bag of pros and cons. I own one and it reduces rotational strain on the spine (pro) but makes tom placement over virgin bass drums a real pain in the butt without the right clamps (con). Also, extra driveshaft means another source of slop (con) but identical feel in both pedals without spending a fortune on another bass drum + heads + tuning/no worry about beaters not hitting on the center (pro). If you're going for semi-symmetry in the kit, this is pretty solid of an investment, and can always be improved later on because the u joint shafts share the same half moon shape as most imported made in asia pedals. Personally, I'll be adding Speed Cobra boards to these + zero lag U joints in the future.

I did it. I bought this pedal and it is the best thing I should have done long ago. It solved my ergonomics. I have chronic back pain and this pedal allows full access to all of my drums without twisting my body causing pain resulting in longer playing time. I would highly recommend this pedal to anyone with chronic back pain. If you don't use a double drum pedal I still recommend it. No more twisting your body to reach your snare and high hat. I don't think there is any other thing you could do to positively affect your ergonomics in a better way.

I have this pedal and don't really like it. It is smooth and both pedals feel exactly the same, but the spring cam action just makes it feel weird and I can't get used to it. So, I swapped out all the spring cams and chain cams and foot boards with Tama Iron cobra parts and now it is AWESOME! The best part is how I can set up my kit balanced to center. No more turning sideways to reach the floor tom!

I don't what's wrong with the people at tama to think that putting one beater in the exact center and the other off to the side is a good thing. My pearl demon drive has both beaters centered like the offset. The Axis A772 I had before my demons did the same.
@isihernandez97523 жыл бұрын
@@captaincumexplosion I'll tell you a little secret, but don't tell anyone... 🤫 In Tama double pedals you can adjust the main beater to equal the secondary one so they both can be slightly offset from the center of the head if that's what you want. Just loosen a screw, slide the beater holder to the side until it equals the other, tighten the screw and you're done. If you think that both beaters are then too far from the center of the head, just replace the beaters with wider ones of your choice. And of course you can return to the original setting whenever you want. This is useful for people who uses double or single pedal configuration depending on the situation, so when they uses single, the beater is centered. Honestly, I don't usually bother in doing it because most of the times I can't notice much dfference in sound between both beaters when I play double bass patterns or fills unless they're really slow, and I'm not that picky anyway.

I bought this pedal a few years ago and had to bolt them down with the angle I wanted to a sheet of steel so it would stop moving around. The more you angle the pedals, the more power is required to play so keep that in mind. Getting the snare positioned so the beaters wouldn't hit it on the back stroke took some manual tweekage. The clamp on this thing is not very reliable. I've made some modification to it. The jaw on the clamp doesnt like flat hoops or hoops with the indentation on them. Considering both pedals are offset, the thrust generated while playing would require a bad ass clamp, a clamp stronger than that of a single pedal clamp ffs. Pretty cool piece of gear but it takes more energy to use. Good luck getting it to stay put, and stay clamped while your chugalugging and blasting away. I left a review on amazon after first purchasing and updated that review once I played some gigs.

I wondered about just that. However I see that Offset Eclipse also sells 2" longer extensions for each pedal arm. Maybe that will help. Patents. Charles Fisher invented the bi-lateral pedal and patented it. Other companies would love to make this style pedal. They can't. I bought mine in 2008. Used it for years. Charles allowed Sonor to sell one with contracted stipulations. I don't remember the issue with Sleishman's pedal. I believe Charles sold the company. The updated pedal is what is now sold. Basically the same mechanisms, they just upgraded the look. Great pedal. My second favorite I have owned. I even made a hybrid with my favorite pedal - Drumnetics. I use a couple Drumnetics slaves and the OFFSET center section, which I magnetized. Works great. The bi-lateral design is so natural and comfortable to play. It changes stress on the hips, the knees, even the ankles. There is no lag at all. Each pedal plays just the same as any other pedal hooked up to a kick. You can get, at least they used to sell two different drive shaft lengths. I don't know if they still do. The pedal feels like a tank. Very solid. Not all pedals have a stabilizer bar between the posts either, and that really does effect the feel of stability. Most pedals just have the main axle. The four springs really do make a difference. If it weren't for Drumnetics, which is just a much nicer pedal for me, I'd still be playing the OFFSET.

I guess they wouldn't sell enough of them sonce Sonor discontinued it years ago, I don't know about Duallist or other brands. There was also a combination of these and a regular double pedal, it was like a "triple pedal", with 3 beaters where you controled 2 of them with your righ foot and the other with your left like a regular double pedal.

Other wise id need 4 bass drums with the outer ones utilizing the extended arm only of a double pedal. And the inners would be a regular pedal. Yep... I'd rather carry this pedal into a tight gig than two bass drums. If you disagree with me I'd have to question the blue collar nature of your gigs. If I was big enough to have a drum tech to help me out, I'd have two bass drums... sure thing.

I feel you on that, though if I were to play a single bass drum, I’d rather just go with a “normal” double pedal. These days it’s to a point where the slave pedal feels fairly close enough to the main, much closer than, say, 20-30 years ago. Though it would be best if all high-end pedals were adjustable enough they can be switched between doubles/2 singles, or can be converted to a double pedal like the one here, if that’s what’s desired.

Or you can just use a double bass setup and save up on cost since this thing costs as much as an entry level single pedal + bass drum.

As your leg is now getting friction rash from rubbing the floor tom

You move the base drum... Not your kit and not your body. The right pedal stays exactly where it is on your kit right now. No rash now? Then no rash with this pedal.

This is cool and all, but it is useless untill they make a dual pedal remote hi-hats. I want to achieve true symmetry, with hats and ride down the middle. Drums and cymbals all around. It allows what all drummers should strive for: Ambidexterity. Also it's a small foot print. I'd have one side odd and the other even size drums and cymbals. Help me Sweetwater, your my only hope.
@cypherredux27715 жыл бұрын
What do you mean hats and ride down the middle? Either way I think your solution is a remote hi-hat with a rack/stand mount attachment
@CloudObsolete5 жыл бұрын
@@cypherredux2771 I want it symmetrical, like the body is a mirror image (left and right). That way the bass & snare, hi hats, and ride are directly in front of me. I'd like to play a remote hi hats with both my feet, which combined with this kind of BD pedal, allows ambidexterious drumming
@cypherredux27715 жыл бұрын
@@CloudObsolete I mean with a slight right/left bias I think you could stack it that way but I would suggest Hats floating above bass drum/snare, bass and snare center to body, with these pedals. Two rides one to either side of the bass drum with Tom's around the center in an open/symetrical kit set up With some modding I'm sure you could DIY two remote hat pedals to one hat
@rabbigabrielbenor6795 Жыл бұрын
I use a DW remote high hat that is attached to the rack just to the left of the bass kick drum. Works very well
