You did forget something. Steins;Gate 0 is not merely a continuation of the "sad ending" of Steins;Gate; there isn't such a thing. S;G0 is actually the story of the future Okabe, the one that didn't attempt to save Kurisu again, who sent the video to his past self, which is what led to the happy ending. This makes S;G0 a mid-quel actually, not just an alternate story; S;G0 is as part of the original story as S;G is itself.

that part kind of confuses me (havent watched steins gate in a while as well) but isn't that a paradox? if okabe doesn't save kurisu, he goes in the future and tells his past self how to save kurisu, yet if he does save kurisu, he doesn't go in the future to tell him how to save kurisu?

You missed an important detail in the ending. Okabe also took Metal-upa before his past self did which caused Kurisu's father to die in a plane crash. The reason behind it is that Mayuri loses that toy and Kurisu finds it and puts it inside the notes that his father steals from her. In the original beta timeline, toy was metal, so detectors didn't let him enter the plane so he survived and caused world war 3. However, his past self got a plastic Upa which didn't trigger the detectors, so he died and the notes he stole from her was destroyed. Thanks to that world war 3 was also prevented.

@@vagusmaximus3711 yeah, it's a bit of a problem,the name. The real question is: when Okabe finds Kurisu in the pool of blood…is she really dead or is he seeing her when “the world was tricked” in episode 23 or 24
@Sweevee6 жыл бұрын
He is seeing her knocked out body, not dead. Exactly like you said ^_^
@zangetsu15975 жыл бұрын
The 2nd iteration of Okabe (the one who had met Makise that day at the lecture) saw an actually dead Kurise the first time. We know she was dead because the 1st Okabe accidentally killed her. But now I'm confused. If he's the one who kills her initially, why did he go back in time to prevent her death? He couldn't have killed her if he never time traveled. Or is her death a convergence, as in she dies at that moment no matter what. Which prompts me to believe that her father ACTUALLY killed her in the initial world line. But isn't this the initial world line? So confused!! Tl;dr: How did Makise die the original time, because Okabe going back to prevent the death that he ironically causes isn't making sense to me.
@Sweevee5 жыл бұрын
You are correct. Kurisu “dying” is a converging point in time. Whatever happens, the initial Okabe will always see a “dead” Kurisu and freak out. Anyways, to answer your question, Okabe time travelled to save Kurisu NOT KNOWING HE was actually the one who kills her. He simply thought someone else killed her.
@zangetsu15975 жыл бұрын
@@Sweevee Which implies that this is a loop. I read somewhere that because the cause of the effect is also the effect of the cause, we never get to see the "original" way Makise dies. The way that is free of time travel. I guess the creators are leaving it to imagination.

W4lk0ff if you watched the anime it specifies a effect called the ''Butterfly effect'' everytime you alter the past it changes other events that happen too, even if they weren't related to the event that was altered and by time the effects stack up and change the world you knew by quite a bit so if someone else had Reading steiner they would too see a change in the events that happened in their past to and that they would be different than those he/she would remember so idk kinda wanted to say it

There is a big twist here. The idea to deceive past Okabe is to make him believe that Kurisu is dead. This made him send his first D-mail in the original timeline. This completed the time loop for the Okabe for those 3 weeks. After that, only Okabe knew the time spent with Kurisu in those three weeks. But this means he doesn't remember what actually happened in those three weeks. For Mayuri, Daru and others, events occurred in those three weeks are different. These same events also occurred with Okabe, but he doesn't remember these events in those three weeks, as he was stuck in a different time loop in that period which only Okabe knows.

Steins;Gate 0 is basically the story where instead of going for the steinsgate worldline, okabe lives the Alpha worldline where kurisu dies and mayuri lives. Opposite of the first season where it shows the Beta timeline.
@19238254 жыл бұрын
To be accurate, rather than an alternative worldline, the SG 0 worldline is a prerequisite for the SG worldline (the happy ending) to happen. Without Okabe going thru everything in SG 0 and send back the video message to passed self, SG worldline will never be achieved.

Steins;Gate refers to the best world line, presumed to have been reached at the end of Steins;Gate. Regarding your other question, I’m not sure sorry. I’m not familiar with the visual novel so I don’t know how Steins;Gate 0 will end. Guess we’ll find out in the coming weeks ^_^

Correct me if I'm wrong but this is what I concluded. So at the end the world line splits up into two. 1 where Okabe receives a video from his future self and saves Kirisu and 2 where he doesn't save Kirisu. I think the Okabe from world line 2 who didn't manage to save Kirisu sends the video to Okabe of world line 1.
@TheSchokodragon4 жыл бұрын
You are mostly correct. A small detail is that at the end no split occurs into two worldlines, because both of them *have already existed* since episode one, which starts off in a beta-line (what you call 2). What happens at the end of the series is a closed loop, where Okabe breaks under the trauma of all he went through, stays in beta and suffers under the loss of Kurisu and the guilt of letting WW3 happen for 15 years until he (2025) figures out a plan for his past-self (August 2010) to fool his even-further-past-self (July 2010) into unknowingly setting off a chain of events that lets everyone live. That plan is the video-mail we see unfold in the final episode that shifts everyone onto a 3rd worldline (the Steins Gate) where neither Mayuri nor Kurisu die.

@Sweevee6 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if the show specifies HOW that D-Mail changed the world line, but we can safely assume the D-Mail managed to change the world line with aid of the butterfly effect :)

@Sweevee6 жыл бұрын
The theory that one minor action/occurrence can cause a cascade of different outcomes which can change our future drastically or minutely. The classic quote used to describe the butterfly effect is this: "It has been said that something as small as the flutter of a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world." Hope this helped ^_^

SERN caught Okabe's accidental d-mail to Daru and understood what it meant, considering the message "foretells" Kurisu's death, and has a future "date of send". So the history of the alpha world line happens. That's the reason why it changes world line. By catching Okabe's text and understanding it, SERN gains dominance over the world's history, which is far different from the beta world line where the time machine "research race" starts world war III. In SERN dystopia, war doesn't exist anymore but at the cost of individual freedom and/or free will. Capturing members of the lab, especially Kurisu they actually create the time machine. It's why the objective in the alpha world line was to delete the first d-mail from SERN's (actually, ECHELON's) database, in the first place. It is what the IBN5100 was meant to be used for.

Hi, Sorry for bad english, Could someone explain to me please At the 11:14, why does DELETING the hacking SERN information change the timeline ? Shouldn't it be CANCELLING the 1st D-mail that would change the timline ? Like when Okabe canceling each D-mail and everything start getting back to normal I'm very confused, D-mail, Time-leap, Time-machine (in Stein Gate) could change the PAST and effect the PRESENT-FUTURE, no doubt But why does deleting the hacking SERN information at the PRESENT has change the PASS-PRESENT(Kurisu got stabbed) as well ??? Changing the PASS, effect the PRESENT = Make sense Changing the PRESENT, effect the PASS = what ? Maybe the IBN-5100 was connected to Phone-Microwave or something, but I can't find it in Anime. Am I missing anything ? Someone help me, pleaseeeee, therefore, I cannot watch the sequel Thank you in advance :)
@TheSchokodragon4 жыл бұрын
They are not primarily deleting evidence about their hack, they are deleting the copy of Okabe's first D-mail (the one about finding Kurisu's body in the closet) that was captured by a filter-algorithm SERN uses to collect timetravel-data from around the world. SERN has probably always been suspicious of the lab, but it was that D-mail that made them confirm their suspicion and dispatch armed forces. What saved Kurisu in the second worldline was Suzuha's timemachine crashing into the radio building, which only happens if SERN establishes a dystopic future - they do this by stealing Okabe's timetravel technology, which they could only do after seeing that first D-mail confirming that that college kid actually did it. If they don't see the filtered D-mail before it gets deleted by Daru's hack, none of that happens, therefore saving Mayuri but dooming Kurisu.

So if you use the dmail to send a message to the past, do you remember changing world lines? Or do you create a different worldline and keep living the way you did in the world line you're in. For example: After Okarin changes worldlines after dmails, what happens to him in the world line he was in the first place?
@wicq25863 жыл бұрын
Only handful of ppl would remember the past as it was before world was changed. But the price of this is they don’t know the current state of the world. The way different worlds “coexist” is explained in one of the episodes. Basically it says that there’s no parallel worlds, you are actually rewriting original world, thus the memory changes. However there is a field of attraction to your current timeline which means you can’t change key events, unless you diverge your timeline enough for it to fall into other field of attraction, where it could be changed.

I have a question just for clarification : in steins gate 0 , which characters remember Kurisu ? Okabe , Suzuha and Daru seem to do . Mayuri should do as well but I feel like she wasn’t affected by her death like those 3 . I’m a little confused ( the summary was great) but this little detail bugs me lol . I hope you answer .
@Sweevee6 жыл бұрын
Everyone should remember Kurisu in one way or another, even if they don't know it yet. Remember when Okabe was trying to get Faris to remember the D-Mail she sent and she could somehow remember it even though she sent it from an alternate world line. It's the same with Steins;Gate 0. Everyone remembers alternate world lines, it's just a matter of how clearly they remember; Okabe has his 'reading steiner' ability which enables him to remember all the worlds lines clearly. It's also evident that Mayuri remembers Kurisu in Steins; Gate 0 because in episode 3 she says 'Okarin already has somebody he likes' (meaning Kurisu). Hope this helped daly5297 ^_^

Can someone answer a doubt i have about the anime? In the very first episode, kurisu already meets future okabe. does that mean that her father never kills her? that it's always been okabe killing her by accident?
@userandresearcher10364 жыл бұрын
Yep pretty much. From what I understand, it's always Okabe who "kills" her. -I've also got a question; [ Steins;Gate 0 Spoilers ] Since Steins;Gate basically ends with him reaching the Steins;Gate worldline, it mean that Kurisu is alive./survives. But on another worldline however, Kurisu is dead, since his future self actually killed her. On the worldline leading to Steins;Gate/on the Steins;Gate worldline, he just fakes her death tho, but in order to do that, he needed to actually kill her once on another timeline, right? (Since he otherwise couldn't have known that it was him who "killed" her.)
@StarslightAndDreams4 жыл бұрын
@@userandresearcher1036 this sounds complicated but i think so, yeah. he is the only one who remembers killing her tho. so he knows what happened in a future where she dies (bad) and a future in that she doesnt die (also bad). after her fake death tho, i still have no idea how the things played out so that they could live a happy ending... i wish i knew
@userandresearcher10364 жыл бұрын
@@StarslightAndDreams I think her fake death, which is supposed to be on the Steins;Gate worldline, is the happy ending, since they (Kurisu and Okabe) still meet, but just later on and Mayuri also lives. If they would've saved her by D-mail, SERN would've tracked that and that would've been the death for Mayuri, but since they didn't do it with D-mail, SERN couldn't track anything, means Mayuri and Kurisu can both live, also with the concept of the time machine never existing on that worldline. But didn't the time machine-microwave already sort of exist before Kurisu's "death" anyways, or is it that they (Okabe, Daru, ...) never even did research about a time machine on the Steins;Gate worldline, or did it exist and they just didn't use it?
@StarslightAndDreams4 жыл бұрын
@@userandresearcher1036 but faking her death (was that even necessary tho?) made that oblivious okabe relive everything anyway right? also yeah, the microwave existed and they would have still used it... im so confused

The IBM was transported to the LHC where SERN is located. You may have gotten confused with them and Russia. SERN uses the IBM and Russia uses Kurisu’s stolen thesis to help them make a time machine, which leads to the arms race where everyone’s trying to make a time machine first.
