flight attendants are held to a super high standard, they aren’t even allowed to sit at a bar while in their uniform. they have to have everything they need on them when they show up for work, her forgetting her passport for the interview would immediately show the airline that she isn’t responsible enough to continue that interview. i’m not saying that she’s not responsible because i think things happen, but the airline would see it that way.

I think the airline really wants to only hire people with a super high level of attention to detail and respect for international laws. The very idea that a bride has to comfort the MUA she hired ON HER WEDDING DAY is a sign of that woman's patience. @@killer_queen4062 She's not a pushover; she's a bride. On her wedding day. Trying to focus on that, and having a wonderful, memorable day, and ignore the little things (like brides are always pushed or encouraged to do, especially now that "Bridezilla" is a thing). This woman sobbed all through doing the make-up for one of her bridesmaids! The last thing Bride wanted to do was confront her or be harsh to her and possibly trigger a total public meltdown in the middle of the reception or other events--and she was probably also trying to avoid exactly this sort of drama, bring dragged online as a bad person. Not to mention, she probably also had at least a few little family- or friend-drama issues going on that day already; little fires she had to put out. She hired this MUA. Obviously she liked her. She didn't want to hurt her. Could she have been more forceful and direct? Yes. But I don't blame her for not wanting to. By the time my wedding day came, I was so emotional that I literally had to tell people that I wasn't sure if I was being normal or not, and to please tell me if I seemed weird. It's a lot of pressure throwing a big fancy party, and on top of that it's not only exciting to be getting married, it's scary--it's a big step. My bridesmaids totally let me down at my wedding, and tried to make it all about them. I totally ignored it on the day, because I didn't want to upset anyone, especially myself, on the biggest day of my life. I don't think that's abnormal. And let's not forget, we have only the MUA's word for how those convos with the bride went. MUA says, "The bride begged me to stay, and said she loved my energy," whereas the bride probably saw it as, "I was trying to push her out the door as gently as possible to avoid her causing a scene and turning my wedding into a big drama, trying to turn people against me or my husband and making me look like a rude, mean-girl Bridezilla."

And this... is one of several reasons why some people consider games to be evil. This is gamer mentality of exploiting things until they get patched. Which... doesn't work IRL. As much as I enjoy games, this is the unfortunate consequence that pops up sometimes when people are not able to differentiate between entertainment and reality. IRL tends to work to correct things so they are as close to how they should have been originally. Games tend to just bandaid fix things and let things slide a lot more if it is the developer's mistake, because the issues that pop up are mostly going to be contained within their fictional bubble rather than spread elsewhere into reality [-- and even then, when it comes to larger MMOs and related where there are market interactions, the people running them are typically going to crack down]* And yeah, I know exploiting things isn't something that existed only because of gaming. It's been how things have been since forever, especially with capitalism. It's just a bit more prominent now due to shifts in culture

Same with social media. Because they were still somewhat new to a lot of people, there were still so many unknowns about what was really out there so safety was more on people's minds I think. Now since the internet and computers are so commonplace I think that there's an assumption that kids these days will learn how to use them [safely] through exposure whereas that wasn't really the case when I was a kid. I've been hearing stories about even segments of Gen Z/Alpha not learning how to type efficiently (not saying everyone, but depending on where you live, how old you are, etc.) so they're just hunting and pecking with their index fingers when I was literally sat in front of a tank of a computer in elementary school and taught touch typing. I work in Anti-Money Laundering at a dif bank and in banking for 7 years now. I asked my friends that have no business education or financial training about the "glitch" and they knew right away that it was fraud. And these are adults that never had a financial literacy course either so they can't blame that. It's common sense I fear so many people lack now. Intent doesn't matter in fraud cases unless you were a scam victim. Even then the bank will most likely close your relationship because of risk. Common sense plays a HUGE factor in their prosecution. "Would a reasonable person assume this is a legal or good thing to do?"will most likely be a question posed during trial. Also, even if you have a bank acct not at Chase, other banks can and will use a check fraud charge against you to close an account due to risk. They get negative news alerts on all customer name matches.

I don't get on tiktok often and I hadn't heard of "the chase bank glitch" but if I had, I definitely would have known that it is fraud. It sort of reminds me of those "nigerian prince/princess" email scams that were kinda common back when the internet and gmail was becoming a common part of everyone's life. I had a friend whose dad fell for that scam, probably close to 15+ years ago. You are probably familiar, but he was sent a check and told to deposit it and send them back like 85% of the total (it was for around $5,000), and he did that when the funds became available (although the check hadn't cleared yet and would never clear). Based on what I know about him, I think he was easy to prey on partially because of his age and also because he was a single older man who was lonely, and he thought he was helping was a woman who emailed back and forth with him for a couple weeks before needing the favor. Anyway, he did bank with chase at the time and even though he actually was a scam victim, and his account went into the red after taking the money he had in it for rent that month, he still had to pay chase back every dollar. And then afterward he had nearly an impossible time finding another bank that would allow him to open an account (idk for how long that went on but more than a couple years based on when I was told this story). I was so shocked to hear that people were essentially just running that scam on themselves! That is so hard to wrap my mind around.

As someone who has worked in the financial industry for nearly a decade THANK YOU for explaining what check kiting is. I’m so sick of seeing this “fun hack.” Banks and credit unions are federally required to give at least $225 within 1 business day. If a financial institution is giving more than that they are trying to be NICE and this is why so many banks won’t give you more than the $225 right away. If you are actively defrauding your financial institution, you are the reason “banks are mean.” Also - DON’T deposit checks you didn’t expect to get. Do not take checks from “friends” if they’re asking for money back and you can keep the rest. This is a scam attempt and the moment you deposit it, you are complicit in fraud and the bank has no requirement to continue business with you. It isn’t their fault you are an active risk! /endrant 😅

A few days after I got back home, a check for $400 cleared my account, which I discovered when my bank sent me the images of the front and back of the check. I hadn't had a checkbook in years, but must have had a blank check in the car. This criminal mastermind had forged my signature, then took it to his bank and deposited it into his own account, IN PERSON. All on camera, thumbprint on the check and everything. Since I could prove that I was 1100 miles away on the date I supposedly signed the check, it was an absolute gimme for the cops. A year later, I got a call from the police letting me know about an upcoming trial,, in case I wanted to make a victim statement. They had arrested fourteen people on fraud and racketeering charges - turned out it was a massive organized crime ring operating in multiple states and the feds were building a separate case against them too. This whole situation makes me think about the time that one of my ex-classmates lost a beauty pageant because she ran on an anti-bullying + animal welfare campaign...while participating in cock fights & posting about girls that she didn't like. Needless to say, all her sponsors dropped her & didn't get far in the pageant. Her entire modelling career went down the drain & she struggles to stay employed til this day.

A friend of mine got denied a work visa because he had put "anarchist" in his Facebook bio 7 YEARS AGO. He did it in his preteen edgelord phase and removed it later, but they still dug it up. He's a top class engineer and he's getting denied work because of a digital footprint 7 years old. Social media has tricked us into surveillance state servitude.

As soon as you mentioned destroying your life for views, I thought of the girl who had a breakdown after people told her to take down her video with the passport* and the makeup artist. *Woman went for flight attendant interview, knew she had forgotten her passport which was needed and then did several videos of how the company was in the wrong. Edit: I see you mentioned the makeup artist, the flight attendant and I had forgotten about the chase thing.

Is that not the situation that’s in the video?

@@eos_aurora I wrote this as I started the video. I still have a couple more minutes and had planned to edit it after finishing it.

"Stack in private" EXCEPT with your coworkers. Always ALWAYS ALWAYS share your salary with your co-workers. Everyone needs to know whether or not they are being paid fairly. If you are making more than all of your co-workers, your employer can't reduce your pay rate because of that fact coming out. They would get in huge trouble for that, and you would have a lawsuit ready to go. But if your coworkers know they are being underpaid compared to you, that gives them bargaining power against the employer to raise their own pay rate and get a more fair salary. Word to the wise

If your job puts it in writing that you can't discuss pay (which is illegal in the US), well give that to the Department of Labor, DoL (dot) gov. You can submit it anonymously.

as a teenager I was both a wannabe youtuber and a huge oversharer and OH BOY am I glad that my dreams of being a youtube star did not work out!!!! (I’m in my 20s now and have learned how to share appropriate amounts of information about myself publicly, for the record)

Why would.... Why.... Would you want to STAY at the wedding any longer than necessary, unless you are getting paid for the extra time!!! That is weird! It's like a reverse Bridezilla. Makeup artist-zilla.

Love the bombas sponsorship! My mom runs our local foster closet and they donate boxes of socks and underwear for the kids :) it’s great to see a sponsor for a company that does so much good for communities!

It just feels like the makeup artist has no one in her life after the breakup and wanted to playact being part of a large community.

i frequently struggle between “move in silence” and being financially transparent. i DO want my coworkers and my friends to know how much i make because it may help them know how much they’re worth and i don’t believe that keeping money private is the right way to go about it but people are also the worst so there’s that. eternal struggle it appears.

I def agree that we need to be brought back journaling lol. I've been journaling for ages and it's saved me from a lot of potential humiliating situations. Also, groupchats!!! Venting to your friends, voice messages, etc. Not all interactions have to be public

I once sent a package to a friend abroad and she posted the box on her Instagram with my full name and address visible. 😅 And we were both in our 20s. I had to full on explain that this was not the thing to do.

The mistress one? What does she think she’s gonna get? Sympathy and laughs? Everyone is going to know (even me across the continent) that she’s a bad person (cheating and telling the wife) and her child is a product of the hurt of another woman. That’s why I don’t have any social media, I just keep things to myself and keep away pf problems

How do you say you are "confronting" someone when you are in the wrong???
@gothicMCRgirlАй бұрын
She probably thought she was being so “brave” and so “courageous” for coming clean, not realizing that people wouldn’t focus on her “good act”, they would focus on her cheating ass lol the only one I feel sorry for is that future baby whose entire reason for existing is due to a selfish act and now it’s immortalized on the internet forever.
@DarkGobАй бұрын
Because that's not what "confront" means. It was definitely a confrontation, it doesn't matter if the confronter is in the wrong. Great, now "confront" doesn't even look like a word anymore.

When I was in my first year of my nursing degree, we had a class all about social expectations of nurses. One of the things that stuck with me was my lecturer standing in front of us on like, day two of uni and saying this: “Hospitals take privacy very seriously. Do not take pictures of yourself at work or in scrubs. Do not post them. They will look, trust me. Do not put “nurse” in your bio. Don’t draw attention to the fact you are a nurse. It’s just not worth the stress it causes. You don’t want creepy patients tracking you down, you don’t want work colleagues seeing something they shouldn’t, and you don’t want to get screwed, cause you didn’t pay attention and had one little thing no one even noticed in the background that ends your career.” And of all the advice I was given in that class that’s the one that stuck out to me. And it forever changed my outlook on how I used social media. I wasn’t the most responsible teen online, but as an adult I’m so boring, I barely post, and honestly it’s kinda nice to not have to worry about anything. Literally just don’t post stuff. Live your life for you not everyone else it’s so nice
