I just don’t understand how it cost so much to make? It doesn’t give $250,000,000 movie vibes. They made both Oppenheimer and Barbie combined for that price. It cost $50,000,000 just to cast the Rock. Definitely feels like some money got laundered in the production process.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who appreciated this! Lol I'm 46 and worked at the theater the day this was showing, so I hung around and watched it. It looked like silly fun in the previews, so I wasn't opposed to watching. I got quite a few laughs out of it, a few eye rolls, but overall I enjoyed it and was sad to hear it "bombed". It had a decent message, the characters were likable, and the plot was fun. Edit to add when Santa's wife touches Cal's face, you have to take into account that Santa and her are probably thousands of years old and Cal is, I think 500 he says at some point? Something like that. So to her he's probably like a teenager, so it's more akin to a mother loving her son, or maybe a grandma loving her grandkid. I didn't see anything weird about it, I just saw her as loving him like her own child, and given they don't mention that they have any kids, she might see him that way.

This one is a silly action movie with comedy. This one is a turn off your brain and eat some popcorn, it's about the fun. Where we SHOULD turn on our brains is the weird Christmas romance movies that keep getting shoveled out. It used to be Hallmark and Lifetime was where those were quarantined. They've breached containment. And everyone's excuse is "Well it's something I can keep on in the background and not think about." Romance really shouldn't be like that. I don't need to analyze everything and think that hard, but some of these topics end up brushed against some very nasty topics and we're supposed to ignore how close we're coming to things like SA. That's not cool. Mindless, silly action movies? I'm cool with that. They're largely inoffensive and have people have silly jokes, explosions, or silly concepts. Mindless romance gets dark too fast. So honestly let's stick with popcorn action. Not popcorn romance.

I just came down here to say that jaywalking as a concept is silly and only a crime in the US and some other overly car-centred countries
@halfbakedn00bАй бұрын
It is. Was pretty much instated to convert roads for cars instead of people. Obviously not safe to walk in front of a moving car. However, if it's safe to do so, I'm not walking an extra block to get to where I need to go - directly across from me. Some streets don't even have stop signs or lights and the crosswalk is the same as jaywalking in the middle of the street. Most cops don't really care, unless it's something out of pure stupidity.
@dawnthegoblinАй бұрын
It was made a crime to protect car dealerships; instead of making cars seem dangerous because of all the harm it causes pedestrians they made pedestrians seem foolish and unpleasant to be around because they dare cross the street. Jay is literally a slur from the time period.

Right in concept, wrong in execution perhaps? (Because her actual plan sort of boiled down to "trap anyone who has ever had a bad day forever", she didn't know the globes could be broken by being nice)
@notshardain16 күн бұрын
She wasn't really right, though? She didn't intend for anyone to become nicer, just intended to punish all the naughty listers via trapping them in snowglobes forever and thus only leaving those on the nice list free. She wasn't about redeeming people, she was solely focused on eternal punishment.

Santa banning krampus for being the first naughty lister? Did you mean: God banning Lucifer for being the first sinner? Technically??? Ykno??? 😭
@bruhmoment683815 күн бұрын
it was framed in the movie as Krampus making a naughty list (santa was a bit like eeeeh this could lead us down a bad path). Krampus and Santa separate because Krampus begins to PUNISH the children on the naughty list. But I do think that train of thought is very good because the whole movie feels like a religious allegory ! Its really cool honestly, takes all the good parts of religion and puts it into santa clause lmao!
@saltiestsiren12 күн бұрын
Yeah Krampus was probably projecting his own inner demons by blaming everybody else for their's, just like God was when he banned Lucifer: because it was like looking in a mirror, which was too painful.
