As someone who has battled Manic Depressive Disorder and Adult ADHD for years, it's awesome to see somebody like Eddie explaining the importance of strong mental health. He may not want to be considered a role model, but his openness and persistence to overcome obstacles is something everybody should use as an example of how men should act. Kudos, Eddie. You're the man.

It is an absolute joy to hear Eddie's story and see him be one of your favorites on TV. Anytime I ever get to hear Eddie talk I click. Glad I found the Swerve City pod too. Hope to see Swerve on TV again soon!

Eddie is a huge inspiration for me. When had similar backgrounds, similar young years, similar teen years. The difference being is that I wanted to be a writer. I'm 15 years into trying and getting nowhere and this, along with certain instances in my past, that have caused severe mental health problems. But if Eddie can make it, can get there to where he wanted to be then I can do it. I'm also open about my Mental Health problems and I've been open about it and helping other guys with their depression. Men have to talk to each other about it, there are friends of mine who were going to do themselves in but we talked to each other. That's Eddie's legacy, not just in the ring, that he's helping people without knowing it.

When Eddie talked about how it's hard for him to accept love that really resonated with me. I think a lot of people feel that way to some degree, that they think they don't deserve love or they don't deserve the amount of love they're being given. Very enlightening to hear that examined out loud

I just stumbled upon swerve city. Idk how I was sleeping on this. I love to hear this man talk. Eddie has a lot of adhd markers. And he said “I was just born like that.” It took me 35+ years and a name for my disorder to accept that I was just born like that. I love him so much. I wish I could sit with him and just talk for hours. We need so many more Eddie’s in our lives.

Loved the talk about "fear" of leaving. I was at a jacked up job. Crazy pay. But hated what they were doing, kept telling them so. They were "Don't like it? Quit." I was "OK. I quit." What a sense of relief. I remember in the indy days scratching for bookings and putting up with bullshit at pay time, fighting for trans despite the 12 hour drive. I remembered being the main event show after show and not getting paid. Wrestling taught me A LOT

If anybody wants to see how an interview is done or the way a podcast is supposed to be done with interviews this is it. These were some real brothers talking real life stuff and it was awesome. Eddie made you feel at home in this interview as they kept everything real and 100 and didn't hide anything. I really feel like once you feel comfortable in your own shoes in life and are real with everything that's when you can recognize everything for what it is and what it's supposed to be.

Last year listening to Eddie talk about his mental health in this episode is what made me decide to start training at 30. I grew up very sick, and only recently had my health turn around. This is the podcast that gave me the guts to ask myself if I could wrestle with my newfound health. It's been a bumpy year, but in that year Wrestling has already given me a lot. Hell, it got me an AEW catering gig where I rubbed shoulders with the whole roster, Eddie and Swerve included but was way too starstruck to say hello to anyone. In just a few months of training I earned opportunities to work backstage at several promotions including AEW, found myself shuttling around wrestlers I watch on TV from the airport, shaking Moxley's hand while silently shitting myself at Revolver, etc. Eventually I had a mental health fit of my own. I grew up terminally ill and my experiences were contradicting everything I thought my life had to be. I've been getting back into it, rubbing shoulders with the students I train with again, going to shows again, I can't completely shake what wrestling gives me even at my lowest. Anyways, I plan to be back to the grind very soon now that I've taken the time to form the tools my mental health requires. Just watched Eddie win that double strap match against Claudio and it reminded me of the moment in here where Eddie said his own anxiety told him that Tony Khan doesn't see him as a champion so I wanted to listen again. This is probably just going into a void but maybe it's more for me at this point. I just wanted to share what this episode has meant for me. Eddie Kingston is that inspirational man on my Rushmore he talks about wanting to be and I fucking love professional wrasslin. 🤘🏻
