SWF Beach Life

Күн бұрын

I'm trying to help my chances of finding shells this summer, so I went on a Florida beach walk at low tide.
Summers are typically a little slower than the winter for finding shells, but I always discover something fun to share on my florida beach walks. On this walk, we're going to hit low-tide and find some pretty decent goodies! We'll compare shells my husband found mid-island with the shells that I found on the south end of Fort Myers Beach and I show how a crowned conch shell gets cleaned up from muddy mess into a real beatury of a seashell.
If you like the beach and you'd like to experience a Florida beach walk, come along with me and we'll see what we can find!

Thanks for a great walk on the beach. I haven’t got out much on the beach, I am not crazy going by myself. But I guess I am going to have to adventure out. My husband isn’t crazy about the beach because he needs his knees replaced, and doesn’t walk very well. I live my dream through you. Thanks so much ❤️❤️❤️

I find the angel wings sometimes on Sanibel, but I think I find them the most at Fort Myers Beach. Oh my gosh, after a big storm I found over 70 of them on FMB. It was crazy!

Those crown conch and angel wings always seem to congregate at this part of the beach in that clay-like mud. But ironically I found TONS of angel wings mid-island after a storm. Who knows - these snails have a way of keeping us guessing! Hope you're having a good summer!

Absolutely great shot of the live ffc! Hey! You learned how to dig!!👍👍 I'm going to have to try that sometime. Really cool sponge? Really nice angel wing. A shark eye with no bore hole!😁 You must have gone a lot farther than I went when I came down cuz of the low tide. We're you almost to Bunche?
@SWFBeachLife
@SWFBeachLife 3 жыл бұрын
You can see Bunche from the North End of the island by Bowditch Park. I was on the South end by Lover's Key. That shark eye was awesome and the pear whelk was such a surprise. I was able to get to the south end because it was low tide. It's become impassable when the tide is high right now. Hope the beach changes back soon!

I started in front of The Wyndham on Estero Blvd. and walked South. You can't get all the way to the South end right now unless it's low tide. The night I filmed this I could just get back around those trees but I went back this weekend at high tide and you couldn't get through.

Two old ladies coming from MN in early Dec. to this area. Do you recommend the water shoes? Are there ever any jellyfish?
@SWFBeachLife
@SWFBeachLife 3 жыл бұрын
I do actually recommend water shoes - just to protect the bottom of your feet. Plus you can walk all over the shell piles pain free! Here is a link to the ones I am currently using: amzn.to/3wIwanv And it's funny you should mention jelly fish. I see them once in a while, usually washed up on the beach (moon jelly fish). However the last time I was at Lighthouse Beach, there were a whole bunch of them. I was very careful and I carry vinegar in my trunk just in case, but it was very unusual and I don't think you will have any problems with them. I rarely see them.
