SWFL Eagles_ E23 Hunts!!~Finds "Forgotten" Pelt ~Flies w/New Food To Church Tree Then Nest 03.28.24

E23 made an early flight from the attic to the front snag, to the west pasture and back to the front snag. E23 eyed a "forgotten" pelt on the ground and flew there. E23 ate from it, carried it and then explored the driveway and west pasture before flying to the DSPS (drive side pond snag). E23 watched the area and flew across the road when He saw F23 flying in the distance. E23 then followed Momma back to the nest hoping for food but she brought nothing edible. Later E23 flew across the road out of sight. E23 returned to the nest tree later watching again for F23 and/or M15. M15 did not disappoint, delivering a rabbit to the ground by the pond. E23 flew there and claimed it. E23 then flew with the rabbit to the church tree where both adults joined E23. I guess E23 did not want to share 😉 and took the rabbit to the nest tree, then nest to eat. What a great day watching 88 day old E23 grow stronger and smarter in survival skills.

I worry about these babies when they leave and could possibly get hurt near these roads.I can hear all the cars and trucks going by, on the main road. Praying this one lives a long life. He has definitely stole my heart. 💖🤗

Yes me too! In a perfect life wouldn’t it be wonderful to be able to be build a wall at least six or 7 feet to block the traffic or a little more privacy and quiet. When I see little one that close to a tire truck wheel. It makes me nervous.

The birds are used to traffic in the area. I've lived near the nest for years and I've never heard of one eagle getting hit.

Gosh, she's so big now! Love how they hide their long necks, and got to see it stretched, too! I presume this was before she brought M's rk to the nest? The wheels were turning and such a great milestone, as scavenging will be mostly how she survives for awhile. Comforting to know she's getting these skills, and so fast! Thank you. Just to clarify, Lady Hawk and I, Wskrsnwings, are two different videographers with separate channels. Lady Hawk records videos from the live cams from her home without narration. I physically visit the nest and record ground videos with narration.

Vicki, will the owls continue to strike E23 every night??

I don’t know when the owls will stop attempting to strike the eagles. It’s different every season. The owls actually have not struck E23 every night. And last night an owl may have flown by E23 in the nest tree but there was no strike and the other “things” flying by were not owls. IMO E23 went down to the nest of his own accord because the rain and brisk wind started.

You are correct. We will never know if E23 is male or female. My guess is male. 😊
