P.P.S.: Why do eagles fly in circles? Eagles fly in circles for the same reason that glider/sailplane pilots do: they are trying to stay inside a thermal to gain height without effort.
On a sunny day the earth is heated unevenly. Darker areas tend to get warmed more so the air over these areas rises. This rising air is called a thermal and is sometimes marked visibly by a small cumulus cloud at the top. You find thermals over built up areas, parking areas, large buildings and so on.
When you are flying in a straight line you feel these thermals as bumps and if you are flying a powered aircraft you fly straight through them. Soaring pilots, eagles and other birds turn when they feel a thermal, trying to remain inside all the time.
Inside the thermal the eagle is actually gliding downward but the air is rising faster so it slowly gains height. Quite heavy sailplanes can rise at 5ms-1 in a good thermal.

I have learned so many life and heart lessons watching these magnificent Eagles. My heart has been so touched and my life has been so enriched. This was a bitter sweet film, sweet as E9 has grown into a self sufficient eagle and has gained all the necessary skills he will need for his survival throughout his life and may he pass these on to his future eaglettes. In the same token it's sad because we have we have watched him evolve and become the regal eagle he his today...watching him soar through the sky only proved he's independant and ready to move on and find a mate of his own. In viewing him the last few weeks he certainly has what it takes to be a successful eagle, he's strong, has chutzbah and is confident and pocesses a winning attitude. We will miss him tremendously but happy for him at the same time, wishing him​ the best...we loved him dearly.

This makes me miss E9 ever more. I can't believe I will never see this precious eagle again. I pray everyday that he finds plenty to eat, has many friends and no enemies. God Speed precious E9. I am so delighted to see E9 once more even if it makes me more sad (grabbing more Kleenex). I hope one day, you come visit us E9. Was 5.3.17 the last day E9 was seen? I have been off for a while. Mom and Dad are still at the nest but E9 is gone, is this usually the case? I watched since he came into this world but not for the past 2 weeks or so. I would love to hear what has happen.

Wow ! This one made me cry the hardest I think. The lyrics and how somber the song is isn't helping at all...lol. Are you sure that was really E ? No, as much as we'd all love it to be E9, if you really look closely at the head area in front of the wings, you can see it's a "white" head. Probably mom or dad. I can see the white head. Otherwise it's an eagle with no head or tail, because you may not be able to see a clearly defined head at that distance, but tail feathers fanned out you should clearly see on a young eagle. This has to be an adult.
