We had a couple instances w/ M15 coming in very hot followed by an intruder and I never cease to be amazed at how both eagles navigate the branches and still land on the nest. Simply amazing flying! As always .. .TY Lady Hawk. :)

Thanks for the video Lady H. So M deliberately brought his prey to the nest instead of taking it to a more remote area away from where he knew E22 was out on a limb, fully aware that some new (female?) intruder was following him the entire time? Then he chills at the pond. He knows about women. Part of establishing their dominance is taking food. It's the eagle way. Has she been identified as a new one? And, for folks who haven't ever seen what the dating process can be like with wild eagles, you're about to see weeks, possibly months of candidates vying for M's attention in a very rough & tumble way. Both males and females can go to very extreme lengths to secure a mate. Just as M did in '15. So, I hope folks can simply sit back and enjoy the action and see where the dust settles in a few months. Love ALL eagles. Trust the eagles. 💓🦅

Thank you Lady Hawk. I saw that this morning and couldn't tell exactly what happened. I just knew the intruder took E22's breakfast. I was watching the horses tonight because you can see so well and I noticed a bird flying in. If you have time will you take a look on camera 3 at 00:48:10-33 and tell me if you think that is one big owl or an eagle flying in. It comes from across the road on the left side of the camera and flies to the right. Hoping for it to be E21. Thanks for keeping us informed! You do so much!

It will be interesting once E21 & E22 are officially gone from the nesting area if M15 will take another mate later this year for next mating season. He definitely seems to have plenty of suitors, but my guess is the reason he's turned down every one of them because he is still protecting his offspring. Seems like he will eventually since this seems to be a pretty popular and desired nesting place.

Hi Justin M15 is not interested in finding a mate - his main priority has always been providing and protecting his E's. Once they both disperse, then he can take some time off and think about a new mate for the upcoming season.

@@ladyhawk Yeah that is pretty much what I thought otherwise he would have accepted a new female by now. He's chased away every potential suitor and rightfully so because he can't trust anyone or risk one of his offspring getting hurt. Especially after everything that has happened. I wonder if Harriet was still around if there would be this many intruders in the area? I can't believe she went from appearing to be perfectly healthy to dropping off the face of the planet without a trace given all the people that looked for her and know the area, plus all the cams.

@@justingraham1774 Harriet flew off the attic on Feb 2nd suddenly alerting and I think she saw an intruder and went to chase it off. She probably fought with it and got seriously injured and was not in view. When birds are injured or are ill they hide in trees - that is most likely what happened or if she was on the ground with a broken wing or leg she was not found and passed away. The intruder was in her nest tree that very next morning so she was unable to return at that point. The intruder also had injuries on her talons. Harriet was a hero who died defending her nest and territory and will be greatly missed!!

@@ladyhawk Very sad. If true that intruder who was hanging around the nest tree he next day was the same one that caused Harriet's death, that is even more sad. M15 didn't want to get too involved fighting it because he knew he couldn't afford to suffer a major injury and just wanted it out of there and did a good job getting rid of that vermin. Although it would probably be impossible to confirm 100% the bird hanging around the next day was the same exact one Harriet fought with since there seem to be so many eagles around that area, but anything is possible. There have been a lot of intruders it seems over the years and owls too. Good thing M15 was having none of that and chased that it the heck out of there and protected his kids. He is incredible how he kept defending the territory alone while they were still vulnerable and was able to provide food regularly and raise them. It is really a sad story that Harriet the icon of SW FLA was lost without a trace, but one with great success too and a happy ending that both eaglets turned out to be strong and healthy and well on their way.

My emotions have have been up and down, i have had tears of sadness as well as tears of joy I have been worried out of my mind and also proud M15 is the king of the eagle world in my eyes and his Prince & Princess are a credit to him. He has overcome many obstacles, but continued the journey he started with our beloved Harriet. I have had so much fun watching E21 & E22, their personalities, their strength, their beauty and their fights over food, their exploring, but mostly their beakies E21 has most probably gone her own way now and E22 will soon follow. Hi Candy it is a lot easier for her to just follow M15 to all his hunting spots and then go in for the steal which she is very good at getting! It is easier for her to steal when there is only one E around now - before E21 and E22 would tag team her and prevent a lot of her attempts. Eagles are opportunistic feeders and they will go after the easiest way to find prey. There is not much M15 can do because he has to come back to the nest or pasture to feed E22. Once the E's are gone, he will be able to fly off and hunt and not come to the nest and has a much better chance at keeping his prey from her!
