SWFL Eagles~Sad Day- F23's Reaction-E24 is Removed-E25's 1st Human Encounter-Misses Sibling_1/27/25

E25 Passed away last evening. F23 brought a fish today and saw E24 nonresponsive for the first time. She feeds E25 a few bites of food. E24 wasn't really into eating apparently and moves back over to the rails. F23 tugs at E24's wing a couple of times. She returns to the attic. Later in the day, CROW arrives around 3 pm ET to recover the remains of E24 for testing. The Livestream feed was cut off right as they were approaching the nest tree. The livestream went live again around 4 pm. What a traumatic day for E25 to have the first human experience and to have his only sibling taken away. Apparently, CROW checked out E25 and s/he seems fine. What a heartbreaking day. lt will be good to get some answers about what happened to cause E24's death. Thanks for watching!

So sad! This nest and M15 has been experiencing tragedy every year for 3 years in a row and more sadness in earlier years. Why are the fates picking on this nest ? E 25 is missing his sibling and these parents are missin one of their babies again. I wish they had had 3 babies this time. E 15 is the perfect father and he loves raising babies more than anything. Just 2 years ago he lost his mate suddenly. He deserves the best life. I feel that the more good he does the more he gets punished . I love M15 so much and wish him a very happy and love fulfilled life. He is lucky he met another mate as lovely as F 23. She must also be heartbroken and wondering , WHY? Not all eagles are great parents like these two.

@lois.mepstein5830 m15.is the best eagle dad. He has been around for a while. These tragedies seem to happen sooner or later in the eagle world. Thanks for the comment.

So sad, its crazy how we get emotionally attached to these eagle families that we get the opportunity to watch. Such a privilege to see them, even if it was a short time. Praying F & M will be ok❤

@ I saw that. I suspect rat poison (based on the behavior of the eaglets that died in Louisiana last season ).M15 and F23 may have also ingested it.

@phoebeflagg2694 when E14??? Died on the nest a few seasons ago he had indeed ingested rat poison, which caused bleeding and death. M15 & Harriet knew something was wrong, and both watched over him the night he died.😭

@chickiedee64 F23 was so gentle trying to get her E24 to be awakened or to move with her beak. Just incredible. I took a brief video of that very, very sad and sacred moment on my phone on the SWF Eagle cam too. It's so incredible and heartbreaking.

@@peaceandloveall9471 Bird flu primarily infects poultry that are in close range with one another and is transmitted through feces. Birds of prey are more likely to experience sudden death by eating rodents who ingested poisons, especially in urban areas.

How did they recover his body? Does someone climb up while parents are there? Do they use a drone?

@Irishwabbit59 they use a bucket truck and physically go up to the nest. I do have a video in my swfl playlist from a few years ago of eglets being retrieved from this nest by CROW. I'll try to post a link to it on my community page. It's very interesting. I wish we could have viewed it this time.

She lifted E24's wing a few times to see if she was going to wake up, she was not eating her baby she was eating the fish she brought in!

you could have fresh food once day or every other day, u could have have raised them & brought it back to the nest in 3-4 weeks @ least they could have been alive,

No. She brought half a fish onto the nest to feed E24 and E25. F23 tried to wake E24 or see what's wrong, or knew something was wrong. First she , very gently, 'flicked' the feathers of E24's wing. The she even moved on to pull at the wing itself (like our own forearm but on the wing) to stir E24. An eagle's beak is very powerful, so, knowing that, you can see how incredibly gentle beautiful F23 was handling that moment of trying to get her precious eaglet up.💔
