She came in for the fish, not the eaglets, so that’s something good at least. She’s probably hungry and saw an opportunity to get some food. It’s the eagle way, after all. She warned off E22 who understands how to submit, but she didn’t get overly aggressive, just adamant about the food. M15 wasn’t having any part of another eagle in his nest and made his point clearly! It’s fascinating, breathtaking and a complete roller coaster ride emotionally.

She could have grabbed an eaglet and flew away, but she didn’t - and she’s had a bunch of opportunities to do so. That says a lot about her intentions, as did her submissive stance to M15 while at the nest yesterday evening. I think she’s hungry and lonely. I also think she has no mate, or he would be there, and she’s interested in M15. I hope it works out for all of them!

There is something wrong with her talon. Could it be she was injured and couldn't hunt for herself anymore? I saw her kicking 22 I nearly had a heartattack. And the scuffle put M15 and the eaglets in great danger. I hope this eagle moves on but looks like she is back for another night. Please all send positive energy to super dad M15 and the Es. She is being very respectful so far. Perhaps when the eaglets fledge and leave for ever, she will mate with M15 and produce her own chicks (if they are a match with M15) :)

DO NOT romanticized this. She is an intruder. She can and will harm the eaglets if she is hungry. I don't know if this female or other intruder almost grabbed E22 but luckily M15 was there. E22 was pretty shucked. Dang this is serious stuff with intruders. E22 has been bonked enough, lost his mom, he's last one to be fed if he gets lucky to eat something, almost grabbed by an intruder ... I think E22 is the 2023 eaglet who suffered the most.

I saw her giving them the evil eye from the branch last night. She is a healthy Eagle who can go get a fish and eat it herself or bring it to the nest. M15 can not feed E21, E22, himself AND her all by himself while also protecting the Eaglets. I’m praying for Harriet to somehow be okay and return. But if not then having someone to help and be with M would be nice. But this was not helping! So proud of Eaglets trying to get their food and for Dad showing her out. Did you see she tried taking fish with her? The Eaglets could have been seriously harmed. I hope she learnt a lesson and no repeats or anything worse. Thank you for sharing video.

But as a Bald Eagle who are opportunistic she could view them as literally in the way of food scraps or even as food themselves. I do agree that it is easy for humans to attach our thought process or emotions to non-humans. The truth is they have their own that we don’t fully understand and sometimes we try to describe them with words from the language of our species. We are lucky to have opportunities to witness them closely as they are meant to be, wild & free.

Then she came back an hour later and did the same thing - M15 had to kick her off the nest. The scraps are few and far between and I just hope she does not turn his/her attention to the Es as a food source.

I think the eaglets knew it wasn't M but E22 was so hungry he was trying to get his fish back. Also, I think that is why E22 was squeeing so much when she first got it the nest. The little eaglets wanted her out, were hoping M would hear. She wasn't around today and it was so much better. I hope we've seen the last of her. M is one incredible eagle.

Even the first time when she fall in the nest two days ago and people said that she tried to grab E22, I think she was trying to get some leftover food. She could it hurt them during the last three days and she hasn't. Seems she is going to spend the night at the nest for the third time. Hopefully it'll a harmonious stay and everyone can rest. I had a heart attack when she jumped down. She did look like she was feeding E21 for a split second. I wonder what the Eagle experts think of this. I felt bad for the babies when she kicked them. I have never seen an Eagle mom do that. I hope she isn't going to be an Evil Stepmom. I am scared for them. They are just babies. But I am also thinking if she wanted to hurt them, she would have. Before the nest battle occurred, I saw the closeup views of her injured toe and talon, which appear to be in bad shape. If there is a vet who is using those photos to evaluate her condition, I'm certain the SWFL eagle community would be interested in their findings.

🦅Is it that she is not nice or she is hungry? There is a user who slowed down the incident and it looked like she was just coming in to nest or get a bite of food. She was NOT going for an eaglet. Like @Alyneorleans said she has had a lot of opportunities to attack and has not, she has been submissive, too. I think she is lonely & hungry, too, especially with her wounded talon, which may be cause for little to no food. Perhaps, she lost her mate and maybe her eaglets, who knows, but I find it interesting that she has come out of nowhere and is not attacking.

No she was NASTY! And so many are minimizing it..are they kidding?? They are only 5 weeks old and she beaked them hard and footed 21 in addition. They are not safe unless M is right there. She did it TWICE. And she fought hard with M the first time after hitting the babies. She is not underfed...but a big ole eagle cow perfectly capable of getting her own food. Wanted a mate is one thing...hurting babies is another. I now have no sympathy for her. I saw both nest intrusions live. NOT pretty. They are not even half her big size.

I think she probably needed to eat because she was hungry, thank God she went for the fish and not for the Es!😰 What a scuffle! Maybe after she eats and gets her sugar good and energy she will probably be more loving to the Es🥵 The Es seemed to like her, they approached her right away. I'm sending all the good vives to the nest Amen🙏

Poor E22....he/she thought the stranger was going to feed him/her, but gets nipped and kicked instead. M15 needs to kick her selfish mean tail out of the nest tree. Please, Harriet, come home! Your family needs you. 😥

22 had already been hit 4 x and kicked once and she hit 21 hard as well. And when M was fighting the witch he went to beak her hard and she moved. He got 21 in the back . ( though I know he didn't mean to) Thank GOD they were not a couple weeks younger or they'd be gone already. ):

She's young. Probably first time with any chicks. I think shes inexperienced and hungry. Will learn manners as she goes thru life. But M did the right thing. Lesson #1

And she is a threat if she is now a viable competitor for food that is meant for the eaglets and M, and continues to drop in the nest to eat scraps and food.

Hello 22!!! He (I think) was the one who kept on challenging the hungry female intruder. At least 3 times! Finally 21 meandered over and did not seem to want to be submissive. It seemed to take a while for Dad to get the messages-that his babes were in trouble. I wonder how much of a beating they had to take underneath the fight-which seemed to go on too long for me. Not a "Swoosh, you are outta here!"--an actual protracted talons ut, bodies lunging all out-almost-serious confrontation. Which is confusing as to why he is now allowing her to perch nearby again!? Does having one injured talon keep a young, healthy and large eagle from being able to fend for itself??I know it must hurt-and maybe the injuries are more extensive than I can tell but that is my question about that part. I do not get why M15 is allowing her to stick around0especially after the last, rather rough kerfuffle. If he has to try t kill her because she envisions the E's as dinner, how rough would that be since she is so much bigger?? Though he did win over Ozzie-(poor guy!) I'm just proud of 22 being the one to take the lead in all of that- several times! Finally, when 21 came in and stood up to her-that was when Dad showed up ready and fortunately able. What a nest, what a nest-to echo the sentiments of another just a bit earlier! What next? T S-W

The eaglets were not in trouble, she had nothing to do with them until 22 came for a feeding, and even then she gave warnings, she did not attack them. Your spreading rumors from other posts that have no clue what took place. This is how eagles act, period... stop assuming they have emotions and feelings. They dont even though it may look like it, this is strictly just nature and the way of the wild.

And I NEVER said this nasty intruder attacked Harriet for certain but the probability is high...particularly with the progression of events and an injured talon. She even fought with M and it's HIS nest. If you watched closely both times...you would know there is a problem. It's very sad. You can sugar coat things if you choose. Have a nice nite. I wont change my mind on this but I AM praying the eaglets make it to fledge. Good night

What did I say that was wrong or obtrusive or offensive-I don't get it-but it hurts my feelings. Plus, who is this In The Garden and why is she/he so angry?? And at who? Me? You? Why? I come here for the creatures and the learning and the information and learn a lot that I know is sometimes really rough--but sometimes just marvelous. Well, I guess it is all marvelous in that unusual life is sort of way-but I don't attack anyone or expect to be attacked. If I've said something incorrect, tell me and I'll want to understand it. But why is this a place for people to be mean or angry? I didn't spread any rumors that I'm aware of. It sure seemed like the little E's were unprotected at that moment and they put up a united front and then Dad came in-that is all I know. That and the hurt intruder keeps coming back in a worrisome way. I thought the question about the talon was legit--then I saw a longer close up of it and the one beside it on another person's channel here-wondered outloud-basically Asking--& will hope I don't get yelled at there, too. Whoever In The Garden is-please do not bother me anymore. If you weren't, it surely seemed like it. I am using this to help me confront and try so hard to cope with the horrible loss of, my every creature in the world loving and very knowledgeable of-always learning and standing up for- daughter. So if this keeps on happening, I cannot be here. It is ripping me apart right now-I've only just passed the anniversary of her death. I was/am here for the Eagles, seeing there albatrosses, other things and getting good info from Lady Hawke and a few replies from others and have been watching since the beginning. But I'm in tears right now and if that Gardenperson has ANYTHING to say about -well, if you are so sensitive-and wrong about stuff-you shouldn't be here anyway- then, let that person stay and I will leave for good. Poor babies…especially E22 gets picked on by his sibling and now an adult he always depended on for food has been rough to both of them. UGH….M cant go get food and guard the nest at the same time 😢

In the event it hasn't been said already, there appears to be two female eagles. This one that's scavenging for scraps, and the one that's been able to roost on the same branch with him last night and tonight. I make this distinction because the scavenger did roost on a branch opposite to M15 a few nights back, but was ran off when she tried to get closer to the nest. This second female doesn't have any injury to her feet, as the camera operator got a clear shot of both her feet right before sunset today. Just throwing this out here so people can give her a fair chance in hope. :) I hope she continues to be a positive influence on this struggling family and that the scavenger goes away and stops harassing them.

I'm thinking that hurricane destroyed a lot of aeries last fall, and some Eagles did not rebuild. Fully constructed nest+a missing Harriet= opportunity for a single female. M15 is looking a little frazzled lately also, but he's giving it his all

I thought this visitor/intruder was trouble by the way she would have her head down and also the definite evil look on her face too. Whether she is hungry, injured or not, she did now have to pick M’s nest to begin with but however, I do know that a lot of Eagles have lost their nests from the last two hurricanes that we had but, she really should be smart enough to know how to at least make some kind of makeshift nest for herself to at least sleep in and bring food home to eat for herself. I still am hoping that E22 is ok and that he isn’t hurt and also E21 too cause it surly would be so very sad for Magnificent M to have been taking care of both babies this far since Harriett’s disappearance and then have one of the Eaglets to be injured or even killed by this female intruder. Not only does he have a broken heart from losing his absolute precious love, losing a baby would just put him over the edge and I truly do mean that and believe it too. Poor E22.. thought He/ She was going to be fed!!.. This was very scary at the time.. She looked very hungry and was I think only interested to eat as much as she could but I'm glad those poor Babies didn't get injured in any way.. Such tense moments.. I think E22 is so VERY VERY hungry. I have been so sad watching him get hardly any food most of the time. And although I think he is smaller because he's a male and E21 is a female so naturally bigger, he still seems very small. And he cries a LOT. This is all so hard to watch....I know it's nature but still hard to watch for me. I'm new to watching Eagles so don't bite my head off....LOL
