Such a joy to watch and hear your comments! I didn’t discover live eagle nests until a few years ago (after I retired and COVID started). Now I follow many nests but a few have become very special. Last year at my local nest in Minnesota was tragic for our sweet E2. Watching nests is not always easy but still a privilege to watch. Still hoping Harriet is found. M is doing a great job with the beautiful E’s.

Love this family and am getting all I can out of them before little one flys away. It's a long time to wait until end of the year, but I will be front and center. I'm still watching your videos. I'm in love with little E9 now! He's so observant and doesn't miss a thing that's going on. Still loving him watching the Jays and other birds and the way he turns his head sideways to look at them. He watches what mom does and is learning the ropes of being a big eagle. After watching these videos for the first time this season, I will really miss him when he flys off to make his own life. I hope he stays awhile longer because I do love watching him hopping about, taking a bath in the pond, playing in that tree, jumping from limb to limb. Like other viewers have commented, I love watching all the other eagle nests, but we get to view things that you don't get to see in other nests/cams. And as you wrote, it's very educational to witness the interactions between these two eagles. Thank you and appreciate your narration and sharing these videos with all of us. I guess it has to come to an end soon. We get so attached and I know that you will really miss him too. Have a great day wskrsnwings and as other's have also said, I'll miss you too.

This is so heartwarming! I could watch them all day! Its fun to watch E9 mantle...but I have no clue why he acted that way! Is he supposed to do that for some reason? (there was no food) I've always wondered if mom and dad realize he fledged a little early...and are taking the lessons a little slower since he's so young. Vicky you outdid yourself with this marvelous video! You are eyes for all of us! Cant begin to thank you enough for all the time you put into this so we can see this beautiful family! This was one of the best videos. The teaching with these eagles is just mind blowing. You could see the wheels turning as E9 watched Harriet bathe. He wasn't real sure about it and hung back. Then after mom flys off he decides to give it a try. Even his ground hopping afterward like he saw mom do. Then to see him fly to the pine and mama joining him was beyond precious. It's all so incredible and amazing. I love this little family so much.

What WONDERFUL video coverage!!! Thank you so much. I learn so much from you guys. It seems like Harriett is really trying to almost detach from E9 so that he learns to survive on his own more. It's sad but necessary and great parenting. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE watching E9 walk and waddle around (ha ha ha) he/she's ADORABLE!!! I LOVE these beautiful creatures. After reading so much literature about the DDT and rat poisons, etc., it's such a shame that humans have destroyed so many of the bald eagles. I saw that they are now off the endangered list but they are still considered "threatened" as far as I know. It's wonderful to see people like yourselves care for and follow these magnificent creatures. Much love to you ALL! I PRAY E9 has a SAFE and WONDERFUL life and that H + M produce even more amazing babies for all of us to follow in the future.

If Harriet and M15 stay at the tree nest through the summer, why do the cameras come down? I don't know what I will do with myself when I can't watch the eagles :( this is my first time watching and it has been so rewarding. Thank you wskrsnwings for these wonderful videos!
@wskrsnwings7 жыл бұрын
Sheri Kirby, the cameras are taken down to protect them from being damaged during the height of hurricane and rainy season in FL. Camera maintenance is also performed while they are down. Harriet and M15 use this nest for eggs and eaglets. When it is not nesting season, it is not unusual to not see them at the nest for days at a time.

Thank you for explaining. Being from New York that never even dawned on me. Hurricans aren't our thing up here. Snow though...now that's a different story. Again thank you for your videos. I'm going to miss E9 when he leaves. Maybe he will make it up my way. You never know!!

This is my first year watching an eagle family. They could teach us humans a thing or two about bonds between mom and dad and sharing responsibility of raising the babies! Thank you for your videos. I have learnt so much from your comments and just observing them. I wish we could know where E9 sets up his/her family. I did have a question if someone could answer. I know the head and tail feathers turn solid white by 5 yrs old, but will his other markings change or his coloring? He seems to be darker than the mom and dad. Thanks.

E9 loves him mom. I don't think he wants to leave. If he tries to stay, will they let him stay a little longer than the norm? At some nests I have seen them fledge and leave the area then parents stay awhile longer and leave for migration. But here in FL do Harriet and M stay Year around or do they migrate to lower temp area in the summer?
@jaeshasway7 жыл бұрын
Steel Magnolia Thank you! I'm really going to miss E9. I wish they'd let him stay in the area. I'm not sure how broad their territories are though. But would love to see E9 continue to grow into adulthood and mate. That's the downside to watching these videos. They leave. 😞 Glad mom and dad will stay. I'll be interested to watch how the prep the nest.

I 'd like to ask about the nest. It is looking a little nasty with bugs & garbage. Do they ever clean the nest? Thx you.
@wskrsnwings7 жыл бұрын
Oneita Burchell, the eagles aerate the nest and keep it clean for their use that way. You will see them doing this almost constantly when there are eggs and eaglets in the nest. Aerating/fluffing the nest : The pine straw also gets packed downfrom them laying on it. The adults pick and rearrange nest materials to help debrisfall down deeper into the nest and aerate it. By keeping the nest material frombecoming packed down it provides better insulation. The nest cup (where theeggs are nestled) provides good insulation. Bugs are a natural occurrence in all nests.
