I believe partially filling the void of the top block with construction foam, then filling the remainder of the top block with concrete for anchoring would have been another approach to this project.

I’m doing a small privacy metal fence ona hollow block wall also. Can I anchor the post with sleeve anchors only ? Or maybe I can use tapcon screws since the fence won’t be so heavy or should I use another method ? Thank you and I just subscribed 🙏

I am so happy I came across your content as I want to build a fence with the narrowest footprint possible. I was wondering if using the epoxy and the all-thread anchor sufficient enough to install a six foot chain link fence directly on the concreted driveway? I believe the driveway has at least 4-5 inches of poured concrete. My concern is that my yard always has a mini tornado going on when the wind blows and the fence my not stand up to the wind over a period of time. Could you advise please.

We have installed chain link fences on plated posts on top of concrete many times without issues. You're going to want to make sure your concrete is quality. And no, I wouldn't reach for the epoxy and all-thread first, I'd use plated posts with concrete anchors. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4jQp2tpj7CSj7M

When you had to add the concrete to the hollow places did you anticipate that or did it take from the end profit?

It did end up taking from the end profit, but we had enough margin that we could accommodate a few issues.

Omg guys please call Hilti next time! They walk you through the different installation process of each concrete situation. They're pricing is wrong on the website too so it's actually not that expensive.

What would you do for a cinder block retaining wall and a 6ft vinyl privacy fence? Set it inside the wall or inset the posts so the fence sits on top of the wall? Thanks.

Oh boy that's a hard one... here is what I would do. Since it's a cinder block wall and the blocks are hollow, I would set inside the wall instead of on top. Trying to attach plated posts to the top of cinderblock poses a problem (you could do it if you were willing to fill the wall and make it solid). Cinder block walls also pose additional problems with anchor methods. And then there's the extra wind load of the fence to think about--you'll be adding that wind load to the load the wall is already bearing and you may or may not have enough structural integrity there to support everything (if not, it'll all fall apart). Yeah... long story short I'd set fence next to it. 👍🏻

Nice result. But, why didn't you just fill the blocks with concrete mix from the very start ?

The entire wall isn't hollow. We stumbled on the hollow spots as we were working.

Turned out quite nice after all. Still, they should have kept going with the bricks I think. Oh well at least they'll get wind.

It’s always frustrating when a quality company has to compensate for a previous company who cut corners to save time.
