For a few dollars more, I always put another terminal post somewhere close to the center of the short run so I can pull both ways from the middle terminal. This way I can allow for extra chain link to be attached to the building or existing fence to close the gap from post to building or existing fence.

I will have a gap of about 12 inches between the house and the terminal post when I put fabric up for my dog run. Are you saying I can extend the Fabric over the terminal post, while still using the tension band on the other side? That would be great then I won't have to figure out an extension to keep these little shelter pups from zooming through the gap near the house.

I would have just wrapped 3 ratchet straps around the pole and the tension bar. Top middle and bottom

Dan… you’re on a roll today! I cringed every time you said, “Jacks”. One of my fondest memories is of my daughters and their little friends playing Jacks on our concrete patio behind the house. They spent hours bouncing the ball and scooping up jacks. I don’t know how many sets they went through but it was a bunch. The reason? Although Jacks were all different colors, Some of them were grass green…. Just like the lawn next to where they played. As a result… they lost them fairly quickly.. and often. I learned that, one day, when I was holding a beer and grilling barefoot. I walked on the concrete most of the time… but, the cooler was in the shade of the tree to the side. As I stepped off to replenish my adult beverage needs… I found one of their jacks. You know that soft place in the arch of your foot where the lord never conceived of the need for callouses? Yep, that’s where I found the jack! From there on, I never walked barefoot in the backyard. Problem solved? Hardly! Did you know that flip flops, bicycle tires, wheelbarrow tires.. even lawnmower tires are no match for the superiority of the dagger sharp point of the common, cast aluminum, jack? Truth! It was at about that time, that Lawn Darts were banned. I put mine away so that the Consumer Product Safety Commission wouldn’t put out a search and seizure warrant on me. To this day, I still have the Lawn Darts… but Jacks? No siree, you won’t find a single one on my property…. Except for maybe a green one stealthily nestled in the grass awaiting a barefoot to pass. So, Dan, I won’t be buying any Jacks… I’m still recovering from a 30 year trauma that comes from the mere mention of their name! So, Dan… two pieces of advice: 1. Don’t paint your Jacks green. 2. While you’re on a roll, have a good danged day!

I will definitely not paint them green! And I'll try not to leave them in the grass. 🤣

You can use quick clamps but puljaks just work better. Puljaks also can pull with a lot more force than most quick clamps. Puljaks also have a rake version and a version made to pull tension bars so the will not slip out. Both Puljak versions have a “v” to go around the pipe.

Just reverse the puljak. Use tension bar portion on pole

I think you're going to have troubles keeping it from sliding off the post. Maybe it'll work on a smaller post. I mean, for a one-off give it a shot.

No, you can't really extend your fabric past the terminal post. My question is why are you setting so far away from the house? If you're able to set right next to the house you can eliminate your gap issue.

You somehow knew where to put the tension bar, so that the tension would be just what you wanted when it was pulled to the post. What if one is just guessing, and guesses wrong? Just release tension, reposition the bar, and pull it again?
@SWiFence
@SWiFence 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that just comes from years of doing it. You're right though - just do it again with the bar in a different spot. 👍🏻

Working backwards will get you through in a pinch up to a certain size of post, but after that all it'll do is keep slipping off and smacking you in the face. Thanks for the friendly tip though. 😒

uhhh so not funny. thanks for the slow roll demo though. gave me some ideas. BTW how many joe homeowners have those jack thingys? I don't have those and I have a lot of tools. So... "easily" only applies to the cool people like you that have those jack thingys. I'm headed to harbor freight.
