Showing my age, here... I bet there'll be some shock and amazement from viewers who've come into RC through quad-copters and RTF fixed-wing foam-thingies. Everything ready to go, with even the motor and radio pre-installed. But there's another way to have fun. "You what? They send you a BOX full of BITS and you have to CUT THINGS and ASSEMBLE STUFF and use GLUE? And then you have to cover it in something? But... but... that's outrageous." Actually, it can be even more horrifically labour intensive than that. Sometimes you just get a big sheet of paper called (ahem!) a 'plan', and you have to work things out for yourself. Selecting the perfect pieces of 'balsa wood' from the 'rack' in the 'shop' (quite a few technical terms, there) is one of the great pleasures of this hobby. I do all my RC flying with sub-250g built-up planes these days, but I can still smell that delicious 'new model' aroma you only get from opening an NNRTF kit box. NNRTF? Nowhere Near Ready-To-Fly. Balsa, ply, spruce, tissue, dope. Mmmmm...

100% I started in this hobby only 5 years ago and once i got past the pre built foamies and into balsa, a whole new world opened up. I'm currently after building a (rather large) flying wing with a kind of pod type fuselage. I havent flown it yet as i cant throw it hard enough. So i'm most of the way through building a catapult launcher for it. Will it work? Will it turn a few months building into kindling? Haha!! Well, i'm not bored anymore!

Very nice design from Martin, and have had the pleasure of flying one, you will be very happy, and should live a very long life as she takes abuse well. p.s. I find a normal clothes iron for putting on the laminating film works much better than a small hobby iron, and it will not damage the clothes iron like other hobby films. Don't be affraid to pull the film tight a bit as you are applying it, you will get a good smooth finish. - Enjoy!

I didn't know about VTPR, so I googled it. I was pleased to find it comes from Brittany, where my parents have a house. There are videos of flying from Menez-hom, and it is terrifying! Hope you have fun flying VTPR, but I think I am too cowardly, and my reactions too slow, to attempt it.
