Carbon fusion, epoxy uv shield, black carbon trim, sassafras yoke, carbon footbar, interior gel coat in a Prospector 14. My order is in and can't wait till it's done. Thanks for a great product Bill!

If UV Shield is replacing traditional gel coat, and the UV Shield is only 1/3 the thickness of traditional gel coat, is a UV Shield boat as durable as a traditional gel coat boat from an impact perspective?

From what they have said in other videos, the UV Shield is harder than gel coat, but obviously thinner. I believe from an impact perspective, UV Shield is just better full stop. However, if the same spot was to be braised / scratched over and over, the new UV Shield would be more susceptible to wearing through to the cloth a little be quicker than the gel coat. Even then though, that might be a stretch since the gel coat is softer. I have a hard time seeing a scenario where gel coat is superior, and this might be the reason that UV Shield is their new standard exterior finish.

@@northern_wilderness_adventurer this is an excellent comment and all true. Any boat could conceivably wear through to expose the cloth layers, but in our experience that rarely, if ever, happens. The only times we see it are on rental boats that go through years of abuse, and even then it can typically be averted by installing skid plates on both ends.
