its not the moonview highway we know. cars are so much nerfed. Moonview was notorious for being unbelievable chaotic and difficult due to the cars. Now its more a breeze

In the GBA it progressed with each passing lap - and that’s what it does in Tour - doesn’t matter how quickly you get to the next lap, it progresses as soon as you hit the next lap. It’s really just that simple. How they couldn’t just do this in 8DX is maddening. What’s even more maddening is the people who don’t know about Tour will just blame Tour for it too when Tour actually got it right…

To me moonview highway is the BEST highway track in MK8D. I think toad’s turnpike was botched in it’s MK8 remake, as it’s not supposed to be a nighttime city, it’s supposed to be at sundown or something. And it’s once relaxing track was turned into electric disco lmao. Shroom ridge is definitely good, but it’s ultra bright solid-color textures pretty much ruin it for me. It just looks so ugly. I think the booster course remake of moonview highway is PERFECT!!! The music, the textures, the vibe, the amount of cars… all perfect!

Glad moonview got this fantastic blue glow on it. Its a blast to race on 200cc and the cars are a bit slow, but still amazing (its 3rd for me btw)

Another wave with all good tracks! My ranking and reasoning: 1) Athens Dash (S+) What can I say? I love the scene it sets, and the music and route are both stunning. 2) Squeaky Clean Sprint (S+) IT'S A BATHROOM TRACK. What more could you ask for?! 3) Vancouver Velocity (S) Nintendo could have made the route better and it would be an S+. 4) Sunset Wilds (S) Amazing scene and the music is just something else, especially the sax towards the ending. I'm not as bothered by the lack of the time of day change, but if that was included it would be an S+ track. Still my favourite GBA track out of the bunch! 5) Moonview Highway (S) My ears exploded when I entered the city area. I literally had to resist dancing. 6) Los Angeles Laps (A+) This track is not low for being bad in any way, it's just that others are better for me. Loved the scenery and it might be the second most exhilarating city track in the game (just behind Athens). 7) Daisy Cruiser (A+) Same primary reason as above. I love how the tables move from time-to-time (I played it on 200cc, so I at first thought the table movements were triggered by the final lap), and just a solid race overall. 8) Koopa Cape (A+) I guess this track just didn't speak to me as much as the others did. Again, it's not bad in any way, it just didn't excite me as much. Though I love that they revived the river theme.

I'll be honest, Moonview Highway isn't Chaotic as the Original version in Wii, Where Cars and Trucks suddenly swift to other lanes that gets us off guards, I guess it would be hard on 200cc? and also the Siren noise is not there.

In Wave 1 there were only two courses I considered fantastic, Coconut Mall (the GOAT) and Ninja Hideaway. Now, there's only one that I don't consider fantastic (Sunset Wilds, but even so it's still fun to play). I love how the waves have been getting better and better.

I just finally played them today which is perfect for the timing of this video. I think I can honestly say this is one of the waves where the city tracks are very fun to play (which kick started with Singapore speedway in w4). They've missed a trick with Sunset Wilds but let's hope they fix that in wave 6. Both Wii tracks felt like riding a bike just with cosmetic changes rather than compelte reinventions and Daisy Cruiser was as fun as it was on Tour too

I definitely plan on doing this too, but once everything is released, so I can get it all in one go. But for me personally, Vancouver Velocity is definitely the S of the wave for me. Even beyond it being my favorite Tour track, it's got great visuals, I love how they really did add the anti-gravity to the suspension bridge, the remix was top tier and the overall experience is a blast.

I loved athens dash, best tour track yet! Daisy cruiser is absolutely amazing, fantastic port of the track and it made it better in all the way. Moonview highway is amazing, i loved it, i grew up with mariokart wii and this track was a benger at the time and even now! Squeaky Clean Sprint is really perfect, all the details, the shortcut and the cute details of the track, just under Yoshi's island, best track of the BCP and i will say, of the entire game. LA laps is really good, sure one of the best tour tracks. Sunset wilds really disappointing, but saddly the game is not made to do a change in the lights, so to made that happend they need to mess a lot with the base game code. Hope they will to that in the next wave! Koopa kape good as ever, sad to have the pipe section without obstacles, but at least the antigravity makes it so much fun. And then Vancouver Velocity, beautiful, probably second best tour track! Overall i think this is the best wave so far, but it is not easy to say so since wave 4 and 3 are so good as well, but in general in this wave j found more interesting tour tracks and really good picks and remake for the other tracks, as well as the new incredible squeaky clean sprint.

Mostly agree with your opinion, however I think this wave is better than 4, just below 3 in my opinion. There are some flaws: Moonview highway could use some more traffic, L.A. laps music remix misses the boops and the baahs. And yeah, the sunset wilds isn’t really sunsetting

I'm back from my vacation, good to see this video has already come out! While I might have placed some tracks slightly higher or lower, overall I agree with your ranking and thoughts of these courses, Wave 5 has been a great one except for the sun not progressively setting in Sunset Wilds!

At most i would move some tracks one tier up or down by one, so this list is pretty similar to mine. The biggest difference would be me putting DS Mario Curcuit into B Tier, because it has lots of opportunities to cut through the grass, it´s always fun to race on this track imo. Other changes would be: Merry Mountain and Kalamari Desert: A Tier; Peach Gardens: S Tier; New Your Minute: B Tier; Sydney Sprint, Amsterdam Drift and Mushroom Gorge: A Tier; Paris Promenade: C Tier. I would put Sky High Sunday into B, if its ramps wouldn´t be so inconsistent... I also thought about putting Koopa Cape into S Tier, since it was one of my favorites in Mario Kart Wii, but i will have to race a bit more on it, to decide. Since I dont comment all that much, I want to use this opportunity to thank you for your really informative videos, this channel is way too underrated.

Obviously everybody has different opinions of how tracks should rank, and I'm in no strong disagreements with you on any of them EXCEPT for Merry mountain being higher than vancouver velocity. Merry mountain gets very plain in that last straightaway of the lap. I think vancouver velocity blows it away at having a better winter theme than merry mountain and it is absolutely gorgeous. Two thirds of the lap of merry mountain are gorgeous, too, but all of vancouver velocity is great, and I don't even like city tracks.

Sunset Wilds (or Upset Wilds as someone said it should be called) was an extreme letdown; I hope there’s a way they can fix it. I’m giving Koopa Cape some points for having three consecutive Goombas as an obstacle. No other Booster Course Pass has done that. They’ve kept it two a simple two like in Tour. And the fact they added back the Eel was nice.

Honestly I’m so exited to play wiggler on the maple tree way I know some people miss the moving bridge at the end but in my opinion Nintendo didn’t have time to include it because they needed to work on maple tree way because they might of worked on the stadium course that got added wave 4, but swapped to maple tree way because its in tour also they had to Improve the track itself to make it look perfect which it is if they had more time maybe they might of included the moving bridge but some people do like the glider ramp including myself, instead of the bridge and the glider ramp it’s good for variety aswell But that’s my opinion thanks for reading I really enjoyed the video😀

Squeaky clean sprint is probably my favourite nitro so far and my favourite track of the wave Athens dash was a bit of a surprise how good it played and was my favourite city track. Sunset wilds and moonview highway were my least favourite but the wave was really strong overall😊👍

People don't appreciate the graphical, rock, and music upgrades in Sunset Wilds from Mariokart Tour. It's top 15 in the game for me. It reminds me of Monument Valley in the Southwest. I know I understand the whole sunset thing, but my first mariokart game was Super Circuit and it still doesn't bother me that much. I'd rather have enhanced graphics with no sunset rather than worse graphics, rocks, music, and track with a sunset. If anything Tours version is the worst of the 3 in combined overall aspects.

While the sunset being missing from Sunset Wilds is disappointing, it honestly isn’t as much of a letdown for me as the route order in Vancouver Velocity. The VV 1 route that is used for the first lap should’ve been saved for lap 3 in my opinion, the long glider section is perfect for the end of a race. Still a great track, don’t get me wrong, but that one thing does bug me.

The reason why Sunset Wilds doesn't change is due to limitations of the engine. Everything is pre-baked meaning global changes like that can't happen mid race without a lighting engine rework which would require an update to every track in the game.

Here are my rankings and thoughts: 8: Sunset Wilds THE SUN NEEDS TO SET! Other than that the layout isn’t bad and it has good shortcut opportunities. 7.5/10 7: Koopa Cape This track pales in difficulty to the original but it still isn’t bad. I appreciate how they bought back the some music variations, but I would’ve rather seen Dry Dry Ruins or Daisy Circuit. 7.8/10 6: Daisy Cruiser This is a very fun map that I have always enjoyed. It’s a bit wonky in 200cc, but it’s still tolerable. It’s good, but there is tough competition. 8.2/10 5: Moonview Highway I was so happy to see this getting a remake. I’ve always enjoyed traffic tracks and this is no exception. The city music hits hard. 8.5/10 4: Los Angeles Laps I’ve always loved the city tracks and this one is fun. While some sections feel long and drawn out, they go by fast in 200cc. The music is great as well as the layout execution. 8.8/10 3: Squeaky Clean Sprint Definitely my favorite of the Tour nitros (sorry Merry Mountain and Sky High Sundae.) The layout and theme are so fun. I love the alternate route near the finish line too. 9/10 2: Athens Dash This is a very unique and great city tracks. It’s so fun to play on 200cc and the layout is amazing. 9.2/10 1: Vancouver Velocity This is such an amazing track. The layout is amazing and it’s very unique for a city track. The music hits hard as well. This is my second favorite city behind Berlin and it’s well deserving of a S+ tier for me. Nothing wrong with the track. 10/10

Honestly, speaking as someone whose favorite Mario Kart track of all time is Wii Koopa Cape. I consider this to be a terrible rendition of that course. 1: It somehow looks visually worse than the Wii version. 2: The Koopa signs are missing, which added so much personality. 3: the pipe section is ruined. It is missing the electric pinwheels that made it so exciting to dodge, and removing the stream in the middle takes away from the fast paced movement of the original, where you were encouraged to stay in the flowing water for extra speed. But if you like it, thats great, I am just extremely disappointed.

It has to be said that most lighting in MK8 is "fake". Having sunset wilds change color would be really hard as every texture would need to change, probably making the game lag. You could only change the skybox but then the ground would remain bright

i'll hold out hope that they'll add the sun setting to Sunset Wilds in the next update (like how they added the car movements to Coconut Mall in the Wave 2 patch). obviously disappointed it's not here at launch and I'll be especially disappointed if it never gets patched in, but part of me does believe they're still fine-tuning how it would work in multiplayer or something.

My ranking 1. Daisy Cruiser 2. Athens Dash 3 Squeaky Clean Sprint 4. Koopa Cape 5. LA Laps 6. Vancouver Velocity 7. Sunset Wilds 8. Moonview Highway Daisy Cruiser is just fantastic, probably my favorite track in the DLC rn. Athens Dash is so unique and fun compared to the other city tracks, and the layout is so enjoyable. Not sure if I could say Squeaky Clean Sprint is better than Yoshi's Island yet since the track just came out, but even if it isn't better this is still a glorious nitro track and is definitely the 2nd best. I've heard a lot of people saying Koopa Cape looks horrible, and that confuses me since you can see everything is textured and isn't Play-Doh like RRM. But this track is a fantastic remaster and is just as fun as the original back on Wii. LA Laps is a very fun track. Wouldn't say its as good as the ones above but its definitely a solid track Vancouver Velocity is an amazing track and I actually originally had it above LA Laps, but those stupid bat obstacles are so annoying I had to bump it down. Still a very solid city track Oh lord Sunset Wilds. Track looks fantastic and the layout has some fun 90 degree turns, but the whole gimmick and selling point here was the damn sun setting, if they can't do that cause of the engine, maybe pick another damn track that you can actually give a faithful remake to. And I always heard people saying "oh a track needs something to deserve a spot in the DLC and DS Mario Circuit doesn't have that" yet they defend Sunset Wilds getting in. Make it makes sense Moonview Highway is just horrible I'm sorry. Track got spectacular visuals and a dope remix, but the layout and challenge (or lack there of) are so horrible. The original was always mid to me, but at least dodging insane traffic kept it from being bland, but now there's no challenge and you literally fall asleep halfway through the track. It feels like Figure 8 Circuit since the layout is bland and there's basically no more cars to dodge now.

To be frank it's unlikely that Sunset Wilds will be changed as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe does not support dynamic skyboxes making the sunset part of Sunset Wilds nearly impossible without a ton of work and just for 1 track? Not worth it, honestly they just should've chosen a different GBA track like Cheep Cheep Island or Yoshi Desert

Here is my ranking (8: LA Laps (C)- Really good, but a bit boring at some points. (7: Sunset Wilds (B+)- Just a good, simple track. Isn't boring and i didn't care about the Sky. (6:. Vancouver Velocity (B+)- Just a good course. Could've been better in layout imo. Just wasn't made for 200 CC (5: Koopa Cape (A)- Great, but would've preferred Wii water style. (4: Daisy Cruiser (A+)- Great overall, thats it!! (3: Athens (A+) Perfect besides the end of laps 2 and three. It is just too tedious. Best track if it was less pillar. (2: Bathroom (S+)- Need I say more (1: MOONVIEW HIGHWAY (Best track in the game)- I LOVE IT CUZ OF IT BEING DIFFERENT FROM EVERY OTHER CITY TRACK. Plus it has a simple, yet cool mechanic

Sunset Wilds is just mid imo. The course itself is relatively inoffensive - it’s not bad but it’s not great. However it’s whole charm and selling point has currently been stripped away. With that it could at least be a visually good track. This wave overall is super great, but for me personally, wave 4 was overall the more solid wave. Wave 4 still reigns king in my eyes!

I'm a huge Mario Kart fan but honestly this wave was really disappointing to me :( if not for the characters (all three phenomenal inclusions) it'd be a contender for my least favourite wave which is v tragic. I'm glad others have enjoyed it but I feel insane for not being a fan ahaha. My personal ranking would be: Squeaky Clean Sprint - S Tier - Easily the best of the wave, plays really well and the concept is always really enjoyable. Just fun all-round. Daisy Cruiser - A Tier - I think if I had played Double Dash it'd be S tier but I just don't have the nostalgia for it. I love the atmosphere though + can def see this one rising at a later point. Vancouver Velocity - A Tier - Really fun and close to being S tier, I just don't really like the lap order. The suspension bridge is my fave part and it comes so early in the track. Athens Dash - B Tier - Love the concept & it's v unique among the city tracks, but it just hasn't resonated with me yet. Los Angeles Laps - C Tier - I think it's fine ?? Like I enjoy racing on it but I would just never choose it on my own volition. Koopa Cape - D Tier - One of my favourite Wii tracks so part of it is probably nostalgia, but honestly I just think it plays really messily. I was also really disappointed with the underwater tunnel and the lack of obstacles. I personally prefer the Wii zappers but I'd even take the fish from 7. It's also just really downscaled and feels a lot less grande which I was unhappy with. Moonview Highway - F Tier - The whole appeal of the track in Wii for me was it's difficulty. Cars were actually quick and it felt hard to avoid. This time it's just another generic traffic track without anything unique. Sunset Wilds - X Tier - I'm hesitantly not ranking this in hopes Nintendo will fix it. But if I gave it a rank now, I'd rank it last of the whole game. It was an absolute waste of a spot being yet another flat, desert track, and the only charm it had was the sunset; and then they removed it. It was just really disappointing and a let-down, and while it does have other charming elements, I really think people are leaping over themselves to excuse Nintendo instead of just accepting it was a bad idea to include this track, and even if you personally enjoy it, the sunset is objectively a huge part of it's appeal, and to choose it knowing they would not be able to accomplish it makes no sense.

*My tierlist:* D tier: 3DS Toad Circuit (bad grass color, worst choice for 3DS track), SNES Mario Circuit 3 (idem but just the choice), Sky High Sundae (basically Excitebike Arena but on anti-gravity which sucks) C tier: Wii Moonview Highway (I don't like the track and it's treated like N64 Toad's Turnpike, cars are too slow), GBA Sunset Wilds (The sunset is literally in it's name, it's nothing without it), Tour Bangkok Rush (too narrow, bad city choice for a track and not a lot of landmarks featured), 3DS Rock Rock Mountain (grass texture is bad, Tour's texture really shows bad in this game), GBA Sky Garden (look how they massacred my boy, at least the music slaps) B tier: Tour Sydney Sprint (like the music but not the design of the track, too many long turns), 3DS Rainbow Road (I don't like this rainbow road, I think it's overrated and it's just a port from Tour, nothing changed but great music), DS Shroom Ridge (same as 3DS Rainbow Road but for DS and Shroom Ridge), Wii Maple Treeway (Too narrow at some sections, the scale isn't right imo), Wii Mushroom Gorge (mushrooms are too close in the cave, don't really like the music), Tour Paris Promenade (solid but didn't age well), Tour London Loop (personally think the lay-out is not that good and some landmarks are missing imo), Tour New York Minute (idem as Tour London Loop but personally think it's even worse), Tour LA Laps (too narrow and definitely a mistake on 200cc), Tour Berlin Byways (boring lay-out and why is the berlin wall featured, this shouldn't be in there for obvious reasons), Wii Koopa Cape (look how they massacred my boy 2.0, really don't like the changes from Wii or 7, only music slaps), Tour Tokyo Blur (basic tour track, love to see that they learn from other racegames with Tokyo in them) A tier: 3DS Waluigi Pinball (solid, don't like the colors but you get used to it more and more), GCN Daisy Cruiser (great port, like that they gave the 7 version an update), Wii DK Summit (don't like the halfpipe designs but great track), Tour Athens Dash (good lay-out, maybe tricky in 200cc but that makes it even better imo), GBA Boo Lake (great background design, nice to see the trend continue for GBA), DS Mario Circuit (predicted this to come and like the track, best Mario Circuit after 7 imo), DS Peach Gardens (love that you can drive backwards, would love to see them do it more on tracks), GBA Snow Land (great port, like the music, cut is OP), GCN Waluigi Stadium (great addition of details, don't like the amount of anti-gravity ramps though), Tour Vancouver Velocity (like the design and landmarks, not the music though), Wii Coconut Mall (solid but I do think that the original is better with it's colors, this is a mix of 7 and Wii and I don't really vibe with it), N64 Choco Mountain (I love what they did with a basic track from N64 or DS and made it stand out more), N64 Kalimari Desert (same but for N64 and 7 instead and nice that you can actually follow the train now for some fun times) S tier: Yoshi's Island (Best track of the game, love the amount of details, lay-out is great, love the secret shortcut), GBA Riverside Park (never thought something would surpass Cheese Land for me but this is my 2nd favorite GBA retro in this game, great music & lay-out), Squeaky Clean Sprint (although I don't like the theme that much, the amount of details is great and actually nice lay-out, will grow on me probably), Tour Amsterdam Drift (Best tour track imo, music and landmarks are more about The Netherlands than Amsterdam itself which is nice), Tour Singapore Speedway (It's fun to race on top of a building, great music and something I desired for Berlin & LA), Ninja Hideaway (great design but imo too overrated, probably only in my top 15 tracks of all time), Merry Mountain (great track for christmas and for a fun time but it's short and it's music isn't there but the theme is cool) My 5 favorite tracks of all time: Wii Grumble Volcano (MK8/8DX version), Mount Wario, Toad's Harbor, GBA Ribbon Road (MK8/8DX version) and GCN Yoshi's Circuit (MK8/8DX version). My favorite cup is by far MK8/8DX's Lightning Cup, all of those tracks are in the top 10!

This wave id say is weaker overall than the last one and i haven't really liked any of the courses in this one apart from squeaky clean sprint. Koopa Cape and Daisy Cruiser look barely any different from 7 other than a coat of paint. Sunset Wilds is a huge disappointment. Moonview Highway i don't really find that interesting and the tour tracks were kinda mediocre and I bought into the hype of Vancouver Velocity but it was meh too. I don't think any of these courses are better than the last wave and are just there
