Hello friends, and welcome to another music theory guitar tutorial. In this lesson we will study the relationship between the notes in the major scale and those found in our basic major and minor bar chord shapes, rooted on the E string. By studying this relationship, you will better understand how these chords are constructed, and modified. Because scales are also used to develop melodies, this information will also shed light on the connection between lead and rhythm guitar parts. For ease of learning, everything will be broken down in the key of A major. Let’s get started!

One of the biggest problems with most online lessons is that instructors only give fret numbers. You know, " 3rd fret on B string," without naming the note or scale interval number. I spend lots of time deconstructing lessons to figure out this information. It's the MOST IMPORTANT stuff and is really what I want to learn. Thanks from me every time you lay out the note names and scale numbers!

+Angel Martinez this will change your playing, and the way you perceive the instrument forever. If you're only speaking and thinking in terms of note names and fret numbers, you will never be able to discuss techniques regardless of key.

Confusing when you switched from interval numbers to fret numbers

+blimeylimey13 yes, with fretted instruments, it's impossible not to get number bombed. I know already that this is confusing, which is why I placed the text in screen. I'd suggest watching through the video a couple of times to get used to it. Great comment, it seems that you have a full grasp of the difference between the number note in the scale, and fret numbers
