It's not really that he learns, he just starts blocking once his health gets low enough.

​@@azrael557 Yes, it is scripted for the Hinox to do that, but it's the thought that counts. Plus, as you progress into the Blue, and Black Hinoxes, they begin to cover their weakspots more and more as you take out less HP. Late edit: they start covering their eyes once you get them down to about half their HP or when they have 1/3rd left.

Fun thing I learned about the hinox: because he wears metal weapons around his neck and waist, If you use electric weapons or arrow and shoot at the metal weapons, he will be shocked, which can actually let you put them in an infinite crit loop. shoot him in the eye, wait for him to ground pound, shock him, repeat.

Nah, that’s too predictable. Imagine the Hinoxes found in BotW are just adolescent Hinoxes, children, if you will. And in undiscovered areas of Hyrule, beyond the accessible area, there are adult and ‘elder’ Hinoxes. Larger, faster, beefier, and hit like a truck compared to these.

when i have 5 hearts but can be one hit by monsters sometimes, like guardian laser beam, or Hinox log throw, or the giant Bokoblin or the giant rock monster... it's one hit die anyway so i guess 3 hearts or 5 hearts does not make much different hehe.

I literally just defeated this guy with like no added or good gear. I fought him with shit gear and everything and camped him out with bombs and running the whole time. Although I attacked the one that was by the tower instead. I don’t remember the name of the tower. But I camped him out and threw bombs at him, shooting him in the eye every once in a while. Safe to say I felt very accomplished and I had a lot of fun running in circles around the “arena”

But I always forget things too, like you can use cryonis outside of shrines (I don't have enough stamina to cross this big lake and there aren't any tall cliffs nearby, so I probably just can't cross it lol). But then again, I've only been playing for 2-3 weeks. Still, I should know this by now!

Plus the Hinox isn't that difficult as long as you keep your distance and other enemies don't interfere. If you do that, it won't even be able to attack you directly, excluding the occasional tree he throws at you time from time
